Ehh

Grew up here. First course I ever played. But it's too small. Most holes aren't even pitch n putt long.

Tough Little Course

I enjoy this course. It feels like a par 3 at times and then surprises you with some tough holes. The greens are out of control steep making it a little frustrating but also pretty fun! The biggest downfall of my day was being behind a group of 5 beginners, and playing with 3 beginners. Nothing against beginners, I just got the short end of the stick with how many were surrounding me. I gave up after being there 2.5 hours and only getting 9 holes in. 5 players in a group is really frustrating and should not happen on golf courses and yet this course allows them. Really slows play down. Overall it's a nice little course, but my timing was really bad.

Nice views but insane greens.

Started as a single and joined up with another guy on the second tee. Course looked great and pace of play was regular for a weekday morning.

The only gripe was some of the greens were lightning fast. Akin to rolling a ball across a marble floor at a steep angle. In particular the greens at the 1st and 10th (which slope back towards the fairway) were almost impossible to stop a ball whilst putting.

The guy I was playing with suggested this wasn't always the case, but made for a less enjoyable outing to find your putts come straight back to your feet on a steep green 20 times. We both ended up just picking up the ball and walking on which seemed to be what the groups both ahead and behind had done we found out later.

All in all, I would play there again just for the scenic views and well organized course. Guys in the shop were enthusiastic and friendly and certainly made it a nice day out.

Tricky and fun

The course is not long but requires deliberate shot making. Fall asleep at the wheel and watch your ball roll off the green and your score balloon before your eyes.

The back nine is particularly fun as it winds its way through the rocks and hills. Awesome views of LA and even the ocean on clear days are a nice feature of this course.

Good Course, friendly staff

I enjoyed the play, but I think they need to do something about players not fixing their ball marks on the green. Since this is a short course, most of the holes are par 3's and an average player will hit most of the greens. Golf is a game of Honor and integrity, so why aren't the players fixing their balls marks.

Just a suggestion, fix your balls marks and 2 extra on each green. This will keep the greens nice for ALL players. Just a suggestion. Other than that, I enjoyed the course.

Very pleasing golf course

There are about two or three extremely difficult holes. It is a short length course but challenging. I also enjoyed the city views.

Great to Practice Short Game

Short executive course great place tp work on short game. Greens good (despite many unfixed ball marks), awesome views, survived 93degree heat, some short but challenging. Only real downer were the bunkers - looks like sand but plays like a mixture of pebbles and dirt. Oh well, not seeking perfection, just a good round.

Specials!

It was great to be able and get out and play at the last minute on a Sunday, but the entire experience was lacking. Two specific issues were tee boxes where it was almost impossible to find a flat lie and hundreds of unrepaired divots. The other had to to with not being told about a special when purchasing a large bucket of balls, and then later seeing others being offered/informed of the deal. When I inquired I was told it was after the fact and there was nothing he could do. Nevertheless, I was able to get out and play; which I was grateful for.

Good views

Good view of skyline , the drought has taken its toll on the fairways of Scholl Cyn GC . Staff expedite you getting on the tee , yet the pace of play is dictated by the eddicate & lack of skill set the 4 some in front of you possess! No Marshall on the weekends makes for a Looong round. Convenient and close to Burbank - Glendale & Pasadena . Not a Driver course at all , get your shot offline and you will be looking in the bushes like the group your ain't in in front of you !!

Hit it straight , have fun - at a snails pace !

Yardage markers?

The course played slow on the front 9 but it sped up on the back. I forgot my range finder which ended up being an issue because there are no yardage markers on the course. How hard is it to put white stakes at 150 and red stakes at the 100? Other than that It was a nice round.

Scholl remains great value and much fun

Don't worry if you forgot your driver - this course demands many other clubs and, especially, your putter be put to good use.

Never understand why people are dismissive of this course as too quirky - sure it lacks Par 5s and there are some easy Par 3s but for a centrally located affordable 18, I've never had a bad time. And there are any number of good challenges, particularly on the back nine.

It can be warm, so early or late starts are likely to your advantage. The facility is actually a gem - great range (can hit off grass during the week!) and very nice staff.

Hidden LA Gem

I play this course a few times a year. It's an executive, so there are only a couple of chances to use your woods, but there are still some very challenging holes. The views of downtown LA are awesome; when it's clear you can see Catalina Island. The course is half a step above a par 3 course, but a great value.

Short course plays even shorter

Played this course 4-5 times. Everytime we played the tees on most holes were moved up anywhere from 15-40 yards. No fun playing 60 yard par 3. Felt like I paid full price but only played 75% of course. Won't be coming back.

Short but good

Great round as long as you know what you're getting into. Not a lot of use from the driver, but the course was in great condition. Breath taking views of the city from atop the back nine.

GREAT CONDITIONS

My wife and I love to play this golf course! Usually we like to play here every two or three weeks and we enjoy it every time, specially by the way they set you up on the front nine getting you ready for the more challenging back nine, specially the 11th, 12th and 13th hole which can very punishing if you are not mentally prepared for these holes!
