Escape the snow & play Sanctuary Ridge Photo submitted by DAB4par on 12/05/2014
Course has possibilities
This is a great course to play as it is at the highest elevation in Florida so a lot of hills etc. Unfortunately so of the green and fairways need a lot of work. Not green, not manicured just poorly kept up. Hopefully as the season moves in and weather improves so will the course. Everyone should play it once as it is a fun course.
2nd time playing this course
This is the 2nd time we played this course. Other time was maybe 10 years ago. Found the fairways to be very brown with not much grass. Greens were mostly green and seemed to roll true. Brian in the pro shop was very good. Let us go out early to try to beat the rain. Pace of play was very slow. Foursome ahead of us seemed to be very new to the game of golf. Many holes open ahead of them and they didn’t let anyone play through. A ranger would have been helpful. They didn’t seem to know golf etiquette. Would come back at the rate we payed.
Over 5 hour round.
Sometime three groups on a tee, no rangers to keep the pace moving. From the first tee to the last a minimum of three to four min wait on each and every tee box. I would say it was over booked. It is a great layout and for this time of year course was in good shape. I would say if you have extra time and great patience you will like this course.
Winter has been rough on Sanctuary Ridge
The greens were terrible. No matter how hard you hit the ball it was almost impossible to get it to the hole. Fairways were very bare. I realize it is winter but other courses in the area are in much better condition. Won't be back this year!
On a positive note the staff were very friendly and helpful.
Cannot express adequately my deep disappointment with the condition of the course. Greens were in good condition however Fairways were horrendous (bare and full of weeds). Not sure what has happened (change of management?) however clearly a minimal amount of money is being expended for course maintenance.
Pace of play extremely slow and no ranger seen. I quit after 9 holes.
I selected this course based on Golf now 's 4 star rating. I am going to be more careful in the future relying on your ratings. This golf course should not be open to the public. It is the worst maintained farm field I have ever seen. I don't understand how the course could earn 4 stars. You should go and look for yourself. Usually a golf course will have some grass other than the greens. Obviously they don't water anything but the greens witch were acceptable for a 2 to 3 star course. I could not wait until the round was over, and I played fairly well. Please review the rating and be honest for your customers. Larry
Not a real golf course
The only part of this course that was green was the greens and they were very slow. There were several dogleg par fours that hit blind over a hill towards the green. There was nothing about this golf course I liked. Well I take that back, there were some great views from serval of the holes.
Layout good ,course is horrible
I am not a complainer but it was so sad to see and play what could be a very nice course in such deplorable condition. The course is obviously broke financially because there were no workers on the course at all and also very few members around as well. I golf 3 times a week and as a tourist like playing different courses but I have never played a course in this bad of repair - could be made good with fertilizer and maintenance / care !
Stay away for the foreseeable future.
Elevation in Florida?
The course is in great shape. Only 25 min from Downtown Orlando, Sanctuary Ridge is a must for Central FL Golfers. The elevation is a great challenge. Great burger at the restaurant attached as well.
Awful condition DOG TRACK!
Great exciting layout. The course is so run down. The traps to the tee boxes and the fairways are all in terrible shape. The greens were just okay. It use to be a very fun track with it's rolling hills, scenic vistas and challenging layout it was a great change of pace from your typical Florida course. Save your money and wait for someone to buy it and or spend some money on it. STAY AWAY!
Challenged
This was our first time playing this course. The elevation changes were fun and challenging at he same time. The views were great but it was windy.
We will be back to try again soon
Love the course... play ever time I can....
Enjoy the elevation changes.
The staff are great.....
Thanks

To bad
It’s ashame they’ve let this course get in this shape
It’s a great layout only few courses in Florida with that kind of scenery and hills
Recovering
Course is always a challenge to play. A lot of dormant grass. The overseed most not have worked in the fairways. Greens were okay. We had to wait on the 4 some in front of us on too many holes. Very slow players. Had a good day golfing.

My absolute favorite for the past 4 years.
Love everything about this course.
Great layout, poor conditions
The layout has many changes in altitude with a fair number of obstacles. The fairways and bunkers are not in good shape.
Sanctuary Ridge review
Played with a couple of local golfers. They gave us some vital info on how to play some of these holes. Greens were good. Tee boxes as well. But overall the course needs some rain -to green it up.
Started off behind schedule. And got behind some slow groups. Slow play is not the golf courses fault - it is up to the golfers to ensure all fellow golfers finish their rounds in a reasonable amount of time. As it turned out -lost my ball on the 18th hole -due to darkness.
