Escape the snow & play Sanctuary Ridge Photo submitted by DAB4par on 12/05/2014
Placement for a good score.
Sancturary has a nice layout for golfers that know their game. There are several par 4 holes that dare you to go for the gusto. Others you can cut in half with a good iron off the tee and get a bird or easy par. It was a fun course for me and my brother.
We were met in the parking lot by a young staffer that helped us load our clubs on to a cart. Very pleasant starter and other staff.
The fairways were not very thick and did not reward good shots. The greens were slow even on down hill putts.
It is a fun course, but pricey for the condition of the fairways and greens.
Sanctuary 2018 first time
We were pleased with the pace of play, contrary to other experiences here in prior years. I am always pleased with some of the surprise elements to the course. On a couple of the fairways the roll was significant. I also like a couple of the holes where the green is below the tee (2) and one of the other holes where the green is below the approach shot. In all I always find the course to be quite fun.
Playable and Avoidable
Had two foursomes and we all agreed this is a great course layout. We have played it several times in the past and always enjoyed it. The greens are true and the course is very playable. Good winter conditions
Great place for an exciting round of golf
From being greeted by Larry, the starter to the final putt, the whole time was a great experience. Playing the back tees it is a challenging course. Holes 2,3,49,10,13,15 and 16 I found quite memorable. In fact they were almost all quite interesting. The par threes are real par threes, no gimmies. The greens were "Green" a nice change in this dry weather. Playing with Joe Luther, a 100% Hupo native American was also a treat and I am looking forward to do it again.
nice layout
Second time playing the course. There are some fun holes, a nice layout. The greens were way to slow. Not a fan of slow greens. Round was slow as well waited on almost every tee box. Overall this is a nice course that I would probably play again.
great challenge
was disappointed with the condition of this course..front 9 different type of greens as the back 9 (slow) grass growing in sand traps and no rakes around for most of the course..a lot of play the day I was playing..had rangers thru out round following the play...fairways had a lot of dead spots and rolled ball a lot..did not confirm but rumor was this course recently purchased by investment group...explains why course has not been up to date with conditioning..still great hole set up and challenging...
Better than last time
Been 11 months since I last played the course and a better experience as the course was in better shape
Good second round of the holiday
Lush greens
I like the layout of this course, it’s elevation changes and large, lush greens. I found the fairways thin and tight with inconsistent grass - it took a little away from the otherwise good experience.
great challenge
If you what to play a course that is very challenging; I would recommend this one.
Overbooked
Taking tee times when the course had 2 outings and putting tee times off the tee in between groups of outings, terrible slow play, more sitting and standing then golfing. They should have never booked tee times when the course was already booked.
Disappointing
Overbooking and not enough golf carts to accommodate scheduled players are becoming a problem at this course. Add to that fairways and greens that are in need of attention and you have a disappointing outing. This course used to be better.
Heartbreak Ridge.
This course is a unique layout built into the side of a ridge. Unless you play this course on a regular basis, it could be named "Hearbreak Ridge.". Fairways have minimal grass, tees a bare, and greens are very slow. Golf is supposed to be fun. This was torture. Even good shots had a mind of their own on the severely sloped fairways along with severe uphill and downhill approach shots. No grass around the greens to hit a clean chip shot. Like hitting the ball off the back of a wet dog.
