Spring Valley is in great shape!
I’ve been playing this course for years and conditions are darn near always very good... right now they are EXCELLENT! I’m not kidding I’d put these greens up against any in the Bay Area, public or private. Fairways are fantastic also. It’s a great time to play there.
Long time listener, first time caller
I’ve lived in the Silicon Valley for a long time and somehow never played here until the great Covid Re-Opening - and I really liked it. Very enjoyable old-style golf course and layout here. Totally walkable. Great value too. Pace of play could be better but that’s true of almost everywhere these days. I’ll be back.
Pace of play
SLOW... played in a twosome behind a threesome. Waited at least 5-10 minutes on #’2, 3, 4. Waited 15 minutes on 9. Seemed to pick up a little around 13. 5 1/2 hour round. Greens were being sanded, but they gave a discounted rate which was nice.
Love this course and their staff!
Spring Valley is my 'go to' course whenever possible. I periodically catch a Golf Now special, like I did this time, and that makes it even better. The course is in great shape. The setting is tranquil. The staff are kind and helpful. The restaurant food is terrific too! I highly recommend Spring Valley Golf Course.
The Old Standby
Enjoyable round with spouse. 5+ hours, but expected. Cold beer.
Course is ok
I like the course but man they stack tee times like crazy !!! And the price point for the course especially on weekends I feel you can play a far better course for the price
But please don’t miss understand it is a cool track just wish pricing was better and that they didn’t stack tee times on top of each other
Slow Play
Hole 2 there was a backup of about 20 minutes. By hole 5 it was smooth sailing till hole 9. Backup of about 10 minutes at the 9th. Rest of the day it was fine.
Nice local course
Spring Valley is a nice public course near San Jose. Pluses are the area, surrounded by foothill,, its very quiet, and a serene setting. Pretty good shape, fairways are a little thin, but it is the start of fall, and we have not had any rain.
Great value
Greens are perfect. Layout is a challenge. Leave the driver in the bag on some par 4’s or make sure you hit it straight. Great food in the restaurant and the staff is friendly.
Decent public course
We played on a weekday afternoon in 4 hours. The course was in good shape, weather was great, and there was no one in front of our group. What more can you ask for?
Lovely Course, SLOW Round
Overall, Spring Valley is a wonderful course. The grounds were in excellent condition. Greens were fair and true, and the fairways were in great shape. It's a great course for a high handicap/recreational player.
Only one issue with our round: the pace of play. It was S-L-O-W! To be fair to Spring Valley, it was the weekend, but our threesome (all high handicap players) had to wait at every tee box for the group ahead of us to finish. Every hole. After observing other groups, this was definitely a course-wide issue.
I would definitely play Spring Valley again, just probably not on the weekend.
Pace of Play
The pace of play was rough today. Lots of groups too closely together. Other than that, it was great!
Spring Valley
The course is in really good condition. There are not many hazards, and the only trouble I got into were wayward drives into the trees which cost a shot on the scorecard. The fairways are fairly wide open, and the greens are fair. The course is in the Milpitas Foothills, and the slope must be taken into consideration on some holes.
