Stay below the hole on the forth hole.
Since the putt will break toward the valley and the break coming from the top is very fast.
Nice pace of play
Been about 15 years since I last played here. It was just as I remembered it. The course was forgiving when using the long clubs , but reading the greens was a challenge. Recent reviews stated that the greens were slow. They played fast. A 4 hour round on a Sunday afternoon was also a pleasant surprise.
Lower Your Stress
I've been playing this course for many years now. If it's not the easiest course in the Bay Area, it is certainly in the conversation. That being said, I like the course and I enjoy playing it. The course is short, has almost no bunkers, and the 3 holes that have water, are a simple carry off of the tee. However, I like the layout of the course as it has some very interesting holes. It also is very peaceful and an attractive setting that feels a lot further from the hustle and bustle than it actually is. Also, while I'm up for a good challenge on most rounds, once and a while it's nice to go to a course like this and feel a little better about yourself. That's not to say that there are no challenges to be had, there are certainly some holes and tricky greens that can add to your scorecard if you're not careful. But for the intermediate to advanced golfer, this should be a nice relaxing round of golf. Like most courses around the Bay Area, the conditions here have significantly depreciated over the last few years. No doubt the drought has exacerbated the issue, but like nearly everywhere else nowadays the fairways are cut way too short which makes striking the golf ball properly difficult. The greens were still very nice though. My big sticking point with this course is the price. While it is conveniently located and a fun play, the challenge level and the degraded conditions make this overpriced. Usual price is around $70 for weekend play, and they will get it because of the location, but $50 would be a fairer price for what you get. But if money is no object, then go play Spring Valley and lower your stress.
Very Nice Course
First time to play this course. Had a very nice time. Course was in very good shape even with the drought conditions. Played as a twosome and only had to wait on a few holes on the back nine.
Good Course if you are a fan of 5+ hour rounds
The course is in pretty decent shape, fairways were good. Greens are a bit spongy for me, I prefer quicker greens. The Pace of play was horrible, plenty of Marshall sightings, but it does not appear that they said anything to anyone about moving along.
Nice course in good condition
Course was in very good condition given the drought. Tees, Greens were in excellent condition. This course is moderate in difficultly with a few holes playing off over water and very few bunkers.
Course was quite wet though (even though we have a drought) so slow on the greens.
My only gripe was players behind us repeatedly teeing off when we were only half way down the fairway. Where is the golf etiquette with some players!
Review for Spring Valley GC
The staff at Spring Valley are very friendly and professional. The conditions of the course are decent, considering we are in a drought. I would recommend this course to any one that I know who golfs.
Course in good condition
Spring Valley is in good condition. Rare these days in Northern California. Greens roll true. Staff is friendly. For a par 70 course there is plenty of challenges! I recommend this course to all.
Good course, but green is too slow.
I like the course. The only thing that I did not like was the slow green.
A decent recreation course
A decent close-by recreation course, played there many times. The cousre sit at foot hills with a good view of surrounding hills, relatively easy and very walkable, with moderate tree and water trouble, and enjoyeable.
Fun to play
I enjoyed the course. It was relatively easy as I shot my lowest gross scores here. However, I think it was a bit pricey. The course marshal should have been more strict towards the very slow play of the group in front of us though.
Great Course
Very nice course, fast greens with great pin placement, & super quiet. There aren't many water hazards which I think is good and bad, but to each his own. Overall I enjoyed this course. I will go back, just don't know when.
Loved it !!
Greeted by Chris at the Pro shop, got me right out,
course was very open... Course in great shape!! Play moved quickly... very challenging... can't wait to play again....
Kellys Review
a good course to play after work and in the summer time
Awesome course
I've played at spring valley like 5 times and it is a gem. The course is nested in the hills which gives it nice character. The greens are true and the course is challenging but fair. I enjoy playing here. I brought my family from Oregon to play with my father and we had a great time playing in the 85 degree weather. Can't wait to play again there.
Excellent Course
Very calm and nice place in the valley. Staffs are nice as well.
July 4th Golf Morning!
I had played this course with work colleagues and did OK. Played with my wife, son and friend. We all have high handicaps so this is the perfect course. If your ball strays off the fairway its usually found. All in all we had a great time. I will be playing this course again!
Enjoyable Course but Greens badly need attention
I would give Course Conditions 4 stars had it not been for very slow (about 7) and bumpy greens. I've played this course for many years...and normally the greens are much better...some variance is to be expected but their condition yesterday was awful. The practice green was ok....smoother and about 8. Staff were all great from pro shop to course areas. Food and Beverage staff friendly and competent. SV is a fun course and I hope they will get on top of this situation. One big plus...range balls reasonably priced. Range clean, neat, mats only.
Great condition
The course is in the best shape I have ever seen it greens cut prefect looks like country club conditions
