Good Course
Too expensive for 5 and 1/2 hour round. $73 should ensure at least a round less than 5 hrs. Course was in great shape. Staff was good. Pace of play is my only complaint.
Over priced for quality
Very average muni course. A place to practice if Golfnow has discount. Otherwise over priced for the conditions.
A Sunday golf to remember
We played foresome on a Sunday afternoon with my family. The green fee was a birthday gift from my son. The fairways and greens are all in perfect condition. We finished our round in 4 1/2 hrs, not bad with some walking players in front of us.
The only disappointment we had are the rude staff on the golf store. My friends warned me about this and i thought he was joking but I had the same treatment. I guess these guys should revisit their customer service training manual. We didnt see any courteous manner from the sunday staff. I like to come back and play this course again but will sure think twice before i decide. Don't want to ruin my golf game with a bad experience from a rude staff.
Fun and relaxing course
One of the better courses in Silicon Valley. It's well maintained. The 9 and 18 holes are interesting. Wonderful staff. It would be great if they had a beer cart like other courses.
Love this Course
I love playing this course. I've played it at least a dozen times. Our tee time was for 8:00 a.m. and we played in under 4 hours. Salinas CC is in great condition. The greens are some of the best in the bay area. it isn't the longest course so you don't always have to hit a driver off the tee but it is still very challenging and fun. Some of the fairways are tight and some are wide but all the greens are tiny! Makes for a challenging game. This place is a country club that is now open to the public but it has a country club feel to it still! For the price and the quality of the course, I put it in my top 5 favorite courses to play in the Bay!
the course was in good condition
had not played course in a couple of years they have added some new tee boxes which are really nice and has improved course from the tips but they have redone tee boxes on all holes and they were real clean
Nice course, but aerated greens made for tough putting!
This course is a very nice muni-type course, though a little pricey. The set up can be annoying and lead to pace-of-play problems; no course should EVER have a par three as the second hole!
The greens are usually true-rolling, but when they are aerated...oh, that drives me crazy. Be sure to ask when you call if they have done this recently.
Beautiful Course - Unexpected Aeration
The course was beautiful and not busy. The only disappointment was that the greens were being aerated the day we went, and there was no mention of this online. The manager said aeration was pulled ahead a couple days due to weather, and they did their best to make it up to us with some vouchers for future visits. I would definitely return to this course, though, ideally when greens are in normal condition.
If only the greens was fair
Love everything about this place except the..........GREENS ! It was too slow, unfairly unpredictable and could use some cropping to make it fair play.
Hidden NorCal Gem
The first thing is the friendliness of the staff. Accommodating at every turn. The pace of play was probably one of the best I've experienced. And coming from SoCal where the pace of play is in no way regulated. It actually is regulated depending on how much you spend for a round of golf. But with this place that isn't the case because we got a great deal for the round. The course marshal was always polite. In fact at one point he had asked if a group had jumped out in front of us. We play at a somewhat steady/fast pace so it's nice to play a course that compliments that. The other area that I have to point out is the setting. Only a few miles above the noise of the city tucked into the foothills, complete silence. I've played a wide variety of courses, long, short, difficult, and easy. I always pay attention to the surroundings and the experience. I will definitely play this course any chance I get while I'm up here
Excellent course, well maintained
Have been here twice and enjoyed both outings... The course is well maintained and the greens are excellent. I am a beginner (with around 15 outings on 9 hole courses) and this was my first 18 hole course... The fairways are wide and forgiving, even if you hit a bad shot, you could recover. Haven't lost a ball yet :). The Greens are tricky, with a gradient in few fairways, it's hard to establish the slopes in the green. Overall a pleasant and challenging experience
Great value in a beautiful setting
Spring Valley continues to provide a quality golf experience at a very reasonable price. I think this course often gets overlooked by younger longer hitters as a place where only more "seasoned" golfers play, but if you give it a shot you'll see that it offers great risk-reward for all levels. On this outing the course was very dry due to lack of rain in Nor Cal area and that made for "US Open" style conditions: "Firm and Fast" both fairways and greens were moving at lightning speeds. Have fun with some of the putts out there as the greens can really send you reeling! I had a great time and you will too.
Ron on Spring Valley
Love this course when weather is wet since it tends to dry out quicker. Course was empty and in good shape friendly staff that got us off early. Wil play again.
Spring Valley delivers again
Met for a quarterly meeting with my advisors. As, usual the place delivered. We had fun, in and out no problems, the fairways were very well groomed and the greens needed a bit of rolling etc... that said, the night before we had some rain so not surprising the machines were kept in the garage as not to damage the greens. Bottom line an excellent Value... and great place to play.
Good course, good pace of play
Good course and a surprisingly decent pace of play. We weren't slowed down or hurried up. Good value for the $40 per person.
9 holes in 3.5 hrs
I understand a golf coarse needs to earn a nickel but waiting through 2 to 3 foursomes from the first tee to the ninth is ridiculous. They must have had a foursome going off every 5 minutes. My wife and I left after 9 holes and will not be back. They did offer us the alternative to start at hole 1 and try and get the front 9 in a second time and appreciate the effort but came to play 18 holes.
Playing golf with Morning Breeze
It was little chillier then I thought it would be. Always good to play in the morning except chilliness. As usual, had fun and enjoy playing with my boy who out hits the distance over me.
Even though it was weekend, due to weather peace and quite.
Enjoyed it very much.
Course was okay, but too slow
The course was above average with good green. There were too many groups playing very slow. Had to wait every hole, especially par 3 holes. Could not start on time and finish 18 holes. But I enjoyed fine.
Staff
The people working there should go do something they really want to and not take out their frustrations on the golfers, will NEVER golf here again!
In the hills away from it all!
I love Spring Valley. It's a fair course and when I play golf, I like to get away from traffic and noise. SV is the perfect place.
The fairways are always well maintained, the greens are good. Some are very tricky and the practice area is perfect. There is a driving range, a great putting green and a big chipping area.
The grill is special! People don't know how good the food is! They also have TV's and an awesome patio. Good place to play, practice, eat, and chill.
