Fun course, just enough challenge!
I have a 24 handicap so I like this course because it's not too challenging. They keep the course in good condition.
Spring Valley is really in prime condition
Spring Valley is a great course and at this point it is in prime playing condition. The tee boxes and fairways are great. The greens are well manicured but due to drought conditions you may have to put a little more effort into that putt.
If this were closer, I'd play here all the time
Don't let the first hole bore you, ..each hole gets better and the layout offers many beautiful vistas as well as challenging golf at this approachable golf venue.
Spring Valley
Staff are very friendly and golfers who played there are friendly too. Very well maintained green but not easy to putt. Love to bring my friends to play there more often.
Decent course, but seriously over-priced
I've played this course several times. It's a decent layout, although a bit short even from the tips. It's usually in pretty good condition, the staff is very good, and the pace of play is generally acceptable, even on weekends. However, I think it's seriously over-priced at >70 bucks on weekends. It's a 45-dollar course at most when you compare it with other courses throughout the region.
Good course
The greens are tricky if you don't play here enough. I scored an 80 with three birdies. What ruined my score were three putts on greens that are hard to read. That is due to my level of skill and knowledge of playing this course. I will come back soon.
South Bay Favorite
This course is a gem, located in the rolling hills of Milpitas. It has it all...wild life, bucolic environment, water hazards, challenging greens and sometimes a view of hang gliders sailing from the peaks above the course. One thing you'll need to remember while putting is, regardless of how you read the greens, your ball will always roll towards the town of Milpitas. I wish the Grill stayed open a little later. It's always closed by the time I complete a round after 3:00pm. The course is well maintained and has a very friendly staff. If you haven't played this course yet, you are in for a treat!
nice course
the pace of play was ok. The marshall did not do anything to speed up the pace of the horribly slow 4-some in front of us. Played on a Sunday afternoon and did not see any beverage cart
BIRDIES AT SUNSET
Putting was challenging due to geographical area pertaining to pull from certain hills and mountains. Slow pace of play for such a late tee time. Lack of Marshalling on the course would be the issue. Very open course even from the trees which makes interesting shots to say the least. Interesting holes especially Par 4s on #9 and #18 with a drive over water to begin with. Number 11 is a dog leg right which I have yet to see anyone score good by trying to cut it off. Go straight and turn right, period.
Great Feel Good Course
Shot 9 over and usually I'm 13-16. If you hit your tee shots and long irons well you can shoot extremely low. Greens were a bit bumpy because of them recently aerating. You can lose strokes on the par 3's but can get them back on the short par 5's and 4's. Will be playing this course again soon
Proshop should be more forthcoming re greens
I asked about the greens before coming there. Guy who answered phone said they were punched a month ago and that no one was complaining about them. I took that as the were starting to flatten out and rolled at a medium speed. Not optimal, but I really enjoy the curved fairways that challenge the driver.
Wow, slow and bumpy. Marshall set us up on a par 3 to have the group behind hit up, then did not send them...???? Did not come over to explain later.
Otherwise I liked the great service in the ProShop (courteous and kind gal) and the snack shack for the same reason.
A good experience
Overall, this a really good course, gives high handicappers like me a chance to break 100 every round. The greens were aerated, and so putting was difficult.
Management Cares!
I had a bad experience when I played last year and the general manager contacted me to find out what he could do to improve. They changed some procedures and made it easier for everyone to come and play. I am very impressed that they took the time to call and find out what the problems were so they could improve. The pace of play was really good and the course was in good shape. I hope that everyone has the same experience that I had. I do recommend this course. Thanks Jeff!
Very slow day
The guys in front of my group were playing with 5-sum, and very slow. And the course keeper didn't help to resolve that issue. It's quite flustrated.
NOT WORTH THE MONEY!!!
Started off with a very rude woman at the pro shop asking me for a credit card to put as a deposit for the cart. Really?? Don't give them an Amex card...they don"t take them!?! Asked for a small bucket of balls and was told to go to the machine. Went to the machine and it only took 1's, 5's and 10's...had a twenty...It was like pulling teeth to get this woman to give me change for the darn machine!!! We went off the first tee and had to wait EVERY hole! Terrible pace of play! Five hour round! The precious cart that I had to give my credit card for gave out on us on the 13th hole. We had to walk until the 16th when they finally brought us another cart! After the round no apology or anything! $72 to play this very average course and they treat it like its Pebble Beach! Play at another course that will give you the service that you deserve for paying the prices that they charge! This course is for beginners and does not challenge better players like myself! Coyote Creek, The Ranch and Cinnabar Hills are better choices than this gopher track!
Spring Valley - Always good.
This is a great course to play on. The Fairways are fairly simple, but you tend to loose a lot of strokes on the challenging greens.
friendly staff, room for errant shots
it was a nice experience from checking in to driving away. course has handled the rain real well. several short par 4's. 5 par 3's ranging from 158 to 178 yards. one par 3 at 161 yds is all carry over water. that was the only hole that water really comes in to play. they have very few bunkers. even though the course is in the hills above Milpitas, the course is relatively flat. greens were in very good condition, but hard to read.
low handicappers might not find the course challenging enough.
Fun Well Maintained easy accessed Golf Course
Fun but challenging course, greens can be deceiving. have always enjoyed the people I have been paired with. Scenic but easy access location. Very pleasant experience.
Narrow Fairways
The course is not very long but the fairways are narrow to compensate. There is one lake that comes into play on three holes requiring long forced carries on the tee shots. Not very many bunkers on the course. The greens are in good shape but have more break in them than is apparent. Also, the greens were hard to hold. Chip shots often ran past the hole and took a large break as well. Overall, it was an enjoyable round.
While the course is in Milpitas, the course is situated in the foothills with nothing but open space around it. Very nice.
