Golfer Reviews
Value Golf
Spring Valley is inexpensive and a fun course. I really like the new tee boxes and work they have done around the course.
good course in Milpitas
This is one of my favorite courses in the south bay. The price is good, the staff is nice, and the course is a good mix of challenge. The course is not too difficult as several holes are fairly open.
Great Improvements!
New tee boxes. New irrigation system is being installed. Fairways are hard and fast and the rough is well maintained. I haven't played here in years. Much nicer then I remember.
This course is fun to play. Need additional fairway bunkers to make more interesting.
The course difficulties are good for my level. The greens are well maintained. Nothing I can complain. And the food are food are good too.
Always enjoy playing here.
Aside from the horrible conditions of the greens, recently punched and maybe 5 on a stimp meter. It will take 2 to 3 more weeks for the greens to completely recover. The rest of the course is in good condition. It will be in excellent condition when it gets over the winter cold weather cycle that always effects all golf courses.
It was a good day
This course offers a variety of challenges. It hasn't rained much this Spring so the course is a bit dry and firm. The greens had been recently aerated so they were quite bumpy, hard to get a smooth roll. Other than that, the area is nice and has some great scenery.
Very good practice area
Great bang for the buck while other courses are charging way to much.
The course has some spectacular views of the mountain and valley.
My husband and I had a great game with the perfect weather conditions. Because of that it was a slow play with all the golfers on the course.
Spring Valley is a good course, always enjoy playing it.
Spring Valley is a nice public course and is in very good shape for a course that gets a lot of traffic. The greens have a good pace and roll true. The tee boxes and fairways are nice as well.
The only annoying thing I found out is that golfnow.com doesn't work like other typical reservation sights. When I booked a Poppy Hills tee time I was able to realize a junior discount when I got there. I was told at Spring Valley that golfnow.com won't allow one to realize discounts like "youth on course" or even not take a cart. Given this, it was suggested that I should not use golfnow.com which is likely what I'm going to do in the future.
Beyond the challenging greens, it has many great features and amenities.
The staff were super friendly. The clubhouse meals were well worth the prices. The fairways were fast and the greens were challenging (the only flat green was #18). Overall "very enjoyable".
Great views in a tranquil canyon setting.
Most of the coarse plays short pars ,but can be challenging if you don't stay in the short stuff , which i haven't mastered yet .
Love this course
Love the course, the location, difficulty, and the staff.
Seclusion of this course makes it especially peaceful.
Secluded, peaceful but still accessible. Greens in great condition. Fairways terrible---bumpy, sparse---in need of a major make over. Personally, I like that there is very little sand.
Too crowded on Weekend Afternoons
Pace of play was about 6 hours, with multiple groups backed up at each Par 3. You're better off paying more for a smoother round of golf elsewhere.
Beautiful vistas
slow Sat play; 1st time playing and was pleasantly surprised at how nice the course was. Was told we would start on time but we were delayed 15 -20 minutes before teeing off.
A great place to play Golf
Had a great time...staff was awesome...Bartender made great Martini's, the greens are challenging because of the slopes, but fair, you just gotta think a bit.
Excellent Value!
Fire Sale! $29 with Cart on a Thursday afternoon!
Great GolfNOW value! Course was in good condition.
Greens above average. Speed of play was average. Waited a couple of minutes on a couple PAR 3's. Great veiws. Highly recommend watching for the FIRE SALE for this course!
Good course for Beginners
Nothing particularly special about this course. It offers, for the most part, some wide open fairways. Occasionally, you'll run across a more challenging hole that requires shaping your tee shot. Greens were well maintained but a little slow. Fairways were clean.
Too much sand on greens
Greens too sandy and there are lots of muddy areas. Overall a nice course to play.
The course balances an open layout with challenging greens.
This is a good course for all types of golfers although less experienced golfers will feel, as they might at any course, some pressure to keep moving. The course is popular and slow play is often the rule. Too bad it isn't a regulation course. If the 2nd and 16th Par 3 holes were lengthened to be Par 4 holes (very possible to do with the available property), then it would be a very nice Par 72 course.
