Golf Club At Terra Lago - North Course
About
The Golf Club at Terra Lago boasts two 18-hole courses, the North and the South, that provide some of the most stunning and unique views of the Coachella Valley. Formerly known as Landmark Golf Club, it was home to the PGA Tour Skins Game from 1999 to 2002, which meant it has hosted a slew of big-name players including Greg Norman, Tiger Woods, and Phil Mickelson. Terra Lago's North Course is the longer of the two at 7,060 yards, which is partly a reflection of the dramatic elevation changes that the golf course tumbles across. From the seventh tee box's lofty perch, you'll get a panoramic view from one end of the valley to the other, making it the golf course's most scenic hole. But it's most challenging is a daunting par 3 with an island green that was the featured hole during the Skins Games.

Hire a grounds keeper
This course has great bones but there is really a lack of care for this course. The rough in most areas is great. Fairways are AWFUL. The fairways are almost dormant grass shaved low with tufts of foreign grass growing intermittently. The greens were almost as bad as the fairways.
You pay a premium of $35.00 extra to play this course, no way is it worth it.
Save your $100 bucks!
Where are the pins located?
The fairway grass is practically nonexistent yet the rough was very lush.
Most greens are elevated so the pin placements could not be seen. No indication of placements. All flags were red. GPS wasn’t working. Loads of construction going on. On one par 3, there were four groups and no sign of a Marshall.
Great course! But......
Well it was my 3rd time playing North course during the pandemic, and also first time writing a comment? Review? Whatever... my opinion: course design very challenge, greens are well maintened.. fairway most hole looks good except some area...the negative of this course was bunker condition looks like changing a layout or design.... but need more care or hands on the bunker...

This was a hidden gem and I was so surprised with the conditions. Stumbled upon this on GolfNow the staff was awesome and accommodating. Food at the bar was so good and the actual course conditions beyond good.
Rip off
Have played here for many years. The South course has always been “less well maintained” and North Course their “signature course”. I played the North Course today and I was appalled at the condition. What they have done is overseed tees and rough and totally ignored fairways and greens with new grass germination. North Course in worst shape I have ever seen; no sand in bunkers; no grass on fairways and greens; no water available to drink except in front of clubhouse—none on course. The current ownership is running this set of courses without putting money in to maintain the courses. I will not play here again ever!!! They should be embarrassed to charge over $100. I will give them a terrible review on yelp also and make sure my golfing buddies are aware of current conditions . Pitiful!!!
Failing Grade
We have golfed this course many times in the past 10 years. Always a favourite. Now there is tons of construction, greens and fairways hard, grass poor. Looks like it is being catered to some type of young golfer academy. I’m all for young golfers but these young adults, teens were rude, and seemed like they owed the course. We were passed by two groups when we were more than keeping up with play only to be delayed by them at all of the subsequent holes. Not impressed, no Marshall. We won’t be back. Management must have changed !
A Frustrating Day on the Golf Course
This was one of the toughest courses we have played in the region. We had a difficult time landing and sticking on the green. Elevation changes on the front nine need a lot of course management.
Terra Lago North
Course winds through piles of dirt and areas of construction. They chose not to overseed this winter, so the fairways are thin and the lies generally poor.
Seed canisters were empty, so we could not repair divots. Reception was not friendly or helpful.
There are other places to play that would give better value.
Poor support
Confusion at check in about our reservation, confusion by the starter managing a delay in play., When our cart broke down we couldn't get help. Some fairways in bad condition. .
fairways have thin lies
The course played short because of the extra distance off the tees. Ther approach shot was more difficult. The dormant Bermuda grass made chip shots hard to hold on the super fast greens.
Not Recommended !!
For ease of air travel, we carry 2 sets of golf clubs in a single golf bag, and then at the golf course, typically utilize a spare golf bag that the golf course provides. This has never been an issue for the last 5 years and over 50 rounds of golf.
However, at Terra Lago, the Pro Shop staff told us that they did not have any golf bags. When we pointed to the rental clubs and bags behind the counter (about 20 sets), we were told “management” would not allow them to provide us with a golf bag. When we suggested they could take the rental clubs out of a bag and we would rent the bag for our round, we were once again told that was not possible. We asked if we could speak to “management”, but were told they were not there. We were told that if we wanted a golf bag, we would have to buy one. When we pointed out that if we were not able to get another golf bag, we would not golf and they would lose 2 green fees. They did not care.
As we returned to our car, one of the young bag drop staff members told us that since the new management took over about a year ago, the course has become a terrible place to work, and maintenance of the course has dropped off.
Bottom line, we will not try to play Terra Lago again, and would not recommend it to anyone else to play there.
Finish
We were only allowed to play 15 holes and the gate was locked at 4:40. We were disappointed that we were not allowed to finish even though there was daylight. Also, when we arrived to check in we were told the driving range was closed but talked to people who teed off close to our tee time that were on the driving range. The front desk was not very welcoming (he could have been joking). The cart people were very good and he starter was welcoming and fun.
Cancelled the round as the wind alert was in effect. The gusts were up to 26 m.p.h. and on the desert you are eating a lot of sand and debris.
