Sunday Slowplay
Course and greens were in good condition. That said, front 9 took 2 hours, the back 9 took over 3 hours!! Really not intuative players, pace of play needs to be emphasized. Never saw any course ambassador to assist.
challenging place to play
I like this course. Seems easy but it's challenging. The greens are pretty good as the fairways. Some holes do have bare dirt areas. Try not to go in that direction. Overall, a great experience.
Mission Trails
Course was in good shape for winter - impressive. The pace was excellent, finished 18 holes in 3.5 hours.
Caution when booking late tee times
Booked a 12:30 tee time, got to the starter and was told they were running 15 minutes behind. Didn't tee off till after 1pm. Was told that they had "oversold" the number of tee times and that everyone "showed up". It sounded like an airline excuse to me. Didn't get all 18, yet paid full price, not twilight.
Great ambassador
Business as usual, with the exception of the ambassodor I believe his name was chuck, older gentleman wearing a hard hat . Anyways he was very polite and not power tripping like most of the Marshall's . While the cart girl and starter were average, the ambassador was the one who made the day pleasant.
Course is a good challenge for the average golfer.
The course is fun to play and I have recommended it to alot of friend. I play once a week at this course. Play on!
Slow Play
As has been my experience on other occasions playing this course, especially in the winter months, everything was slow. With darkness falling, we had to stop after the 16th hole, when our starting time should have given us ample time to complete the round. The course itself is excellent and a pleasure to play. It demands concentration, and the greens were in fabulous condition. The setting is beautiful, but there are too many slow players and no way to get them to move along.
BEST GREENS THIS YEAR
THE COURSE WAS GREAT SHAPE FOR WINTER.THE GREENS WERE OUTSTANDING AND ROLL TRUE. THE FAIR WAYS ARE DORMANT BUT HAVE PLENTY OF GRASS.
FUN COURSE ,NICE VIEW OF LAKE MURRAY ON BACK NINE.
Remember when Tom Cruise leaves his apartment in Vanilla Sky?
There was virtually no one on the course last Thursday. Many times it is super crowded, but this day my buddy and I had no one ahead of us and no one behind. Fantastic golf day!
Beautiful greens
Couldn't have asked for a nicer day! The course isn't pristine but it's maintained enough to keep up with the number of rounds played there. It was a busy day.. 5 hour round...but it didn't feel like we were held up and we were never pushed from behind. I even birdied the 200 yard par 3 17th...great day!
Short and Cramped
I found that the course layout was really really cramped, a couple of times you had to drive in front of a tee box to get to the next hole. on the front nine the ground was really hard. a lot of the holes were really short. For example, hole 18 is a 240yd straight par 4 from the whites. the back nine had some nice looking holes with good views of Lake Murray.
Demand Driven Price
This course is not bad, but it isnt worth the $50+ green fees you'll be paying. The price is driven by the prime location of the course rather than the quality. The greens were well maintained, but the fairways are a melting pot of different grasses (and weeds). I tee'd off at 6:07am and found myself behind a 5some when I reached the back nine.
Best Value for the Money.
This is the best course for the money in SD. I like playing nice course but 65+ a pop can add up. This is a great value on a great course. Out of all the 40 dollar range course this is the nicest IMO.
Nice layout, with some interesting holes!
This course is on the short side, but it has some interesting holes, and is anything but boring. The greens are a bit small, but are pretty well maintained. I have played here before, and it can get pretty crowded on weekends, but we moved very well this day.
Easy course in decent shape.
relatively easy course with nice layout. Condition is good with especially nice greens. Finished in just around 4.5 hours. Worth playing.
Fantastic greens with poor Fairways
fairly fast greens in pristine condition. Fairways need attention and tee boxes need allot of attention. Prices should be more like$25-30 max. still pretty good course.
This is a very hilly course.
Greens are better than they have been in the past. There is quite a bit of hardpan to deal with but for the price, it's not bad. The staff is pretty friendly, course gets alot of play due to green fee being moderate. This course is very hilly and mostly short. All in all, it's not bad....don't bring your out of town guests there for a special occasion, but if it's a weekday and you want to get a round in, it's worth a try.
Elevations, challenges, good conditioned greens
We had a great time on the course, woman friendly forward tees and a more challenge from the back tees for the guys, but watch out for the traversing concrete ravines on many holes. Greens are a little slow but true. A great value after playing and paying some costal course green fees. Would also recommend to pay extra $5 the grill outside.
Great staff
Staff is very friendly! Pleasure dealing with Marla at the front counter and the entire staff. Can't say enough. Staff keeps me coming back.
same old mission hills!
this course just seems to stay the same every time i play! not real hard but not easy.
