Green To Tee Photo submitted by gregjm1977 on 03/17/2013
Island Pointe
Course had great bones and I played during fall leaves color change. Unfortunately I was not aware of damage from Hurricane Helene. Staff are trying to get everything back in shape but it will be a while. Greens and fairways were still in great shape but tee boxes need some work as well as traps. Some hard scape features were knocked out by Helene.
Excellent
Considering damage they experienced from hurricane they have done an amazing job
would play again
excellent course , very friendly staff. plan on returning next year.
Played on vacation a few weeks after Helene- several holes along the river suffered some fairly significant flood damage but largely aesthetic and did not affect course playability much at all. Fairway/green conditions were remarkable on these holes considering they were completely under water, honestly would have never known. The rest of the course higher above the river was in fantastic condition as well. Very impressive the staff managed to have 18 holes open as they lost several cart paths/causeways and brought in many loads of rock to accommodate course navigation. Will likely take some time to return the holes along the river to the natural beauty they had before the storm, but don't let that discourage you from playing a great track.
My New Favorite Knoxville Course
With a slope rating of 146, narrow tree-lined fairways alongside the French Broad River, bring LOTS of golfballs if you have a 15+ GHIN.
Fairways are Zoysia and are manicured and provide tight fairway lies assuming you hit a well placed drive!
Gotta say, this course kicked my rearend the first time I played this course but I'll be back!
I live in Fountain City and it's only 25 mins door to door...so glad I found this hidden gem!
Destroyed by the hurricane flooding
This course just reopened when we played it, and the shape it was in was incredible for being underwater a week before. I can highly recommend this course but just give it some time to heal.
Great Gatlinburg Area Course
I've played some beautiful courses in my life and this one is right up there. The rivers wound through the course but didn't come into play to much unless you shanked it. I got behind 3 foresomes, so that was my only beef. But still got 18 in in 4 hours. Beer is available at the proshop and they had a food cart at the turn with a great hot dog. I'll be back!
A Great Challenge on Beautiful Course
Conditions were great, greens rolled true 1-18, fairways were like extension of the greens. It was a long round of golf, but it was a beautiful Saturday, and lots of people were enjoying the course like us. I highly recommend a visit here!
Gorgeous Golf Course
I've play alot of pretty golf courses and this one was right up there. The way the rivers ran through and around the course was great. But the water didn't come into play too much to make it daunting. Green were the most challenging as they were firm and kind of curvy. I'll definitely be back. My only negative was I was a single and got behind four foursomes I couldn't get through so I did alot of waiting, but it wasn't too bad. Still played in 4 hours. Nice place! Not far from Gatlinburg either.
Love This Course
The course is in incredible shape. We always enjoy playing here. Fairways were smooth, Greens were great and fast. Staff is always super friendly. We will definitely be back.
I’d like to play this place more often but they make it hard.
We used to play this course all the time. But when Covid came about they got this great idea to make you pay up front. But only problem is that now that is only on weekends. You can make a tee time over the phone during the week. But for some reason they want you (the booker) to pay up front for your entire groups round. Then you get to collect all your buddies money yourself. So you get to drop $300 bucks to book. That’s counting the “convenience fee”. Don’t really see anything convenient about the booking but whatever. So just so you know since it doesn’t say. When you book on their website you are actually booking on golfnow which if something happens it’s like pulling teeth to get a refund. So Island Pointe stop being ridiculous and make it easy for people to come out and spend their money. Everyone has no shows so stop making the rest of us pay the price for their stupidity.
Beautiful & Challenging!
Good challenging course. 3 holes are on an Island which is very unique.
Good driving range (real grass), putting green, and chipping green. Some holes have a links course feel With some long grass overgrowth waste areas. With addition of a few beautiful water holes (River!), make sure you have a couple extra balls.
I have played this course since its inception about 35 years ago, but it’s my first time in a few years and since the name change, and I was pleased with the course and facilities condition.
MLH
Great course, good shape. Beautiful along the French Broad river.
Hidden Gem
Was pleasantly surprised by how good this golf course was. It’s an interesting lay out for a course. Some holes were like a links course, others were more generous. I would recommend this course.

Course was in great shape, it is a fairly moderate to difficult Course but has some unique qualities. You hit over the French Broad river for 2 par 3s & it has numerous holes holes that run along the course....Beautiful place to play.😀
