Mountain View at Desert Willow Golf Resort
About
The second of two Michael Hurdzan and Dana Fry designs at Desert Willow resort in Cathedral City, Mountain View is a little shorter (6,913 yards) and boasts wider fairways than the Firecliff Course.
There are also half as many bunkers as at Firecliff. Which still means there are 98 here.
Still, water comes into play more on Mountain View. The course name is no misnomer either. Golfers actually do get great views of the Santa Rosa Mountains as they take on Hurdzan's desert landscaping. This is resort golf with real nature touches.

The Best in Palm Desert
A great challenging test of your game in a beautiful setting. My brother played it with me for the first time and got so distracted taking pictures, he forgot
his swing!
Course is always in excellent condition, staff is warm
and friendly......I wish I could play either course every day. Desert Willow is a must play in the Valley.
Amazing Course
This was by far the best public course we have ever played. The staff was very friendly and condition of course was perfect. It was a surprising find.
Amazing day of golf
Thoroughly enjoyed the course. Played the forward tees. Found the greens a bit tricky. Loved that you were not among the houses. Would definitely recommend the course. Great ice and water throughout the course. For woman the distance is reasonable. Course was well kept.
Great Course
This course was in awsome shape we enjoyed many impressing Mountain Views.
If you want to find something bad, then this the Restaurant was already closed for food at 4pm, so we couldnt enjoy the view during a nice dinner.
One of our favorites
Mountain course at DW is one of our favorites and it is in good condition. One has to drive through new construction near the new Westin between several holes, which detracts from the overall effect. Pace of play was good. It is still a beautiful course.
Superb conditions
I played this course on November 1st and 2nd and it was a great experience. Although the course is challenging, the wide fairways are giving a chance to all kinds of golfers. The pace of play was good, played the course, both days in 4h20.
I definitely recommend that course. It's a little expensive but if you play twilight it's worth the price.
lots of beginners on course!
came to play, the course placed 2 foursomes of beginners with rental clubs ahead of us. some holes we waited 32 minutes to play. when called the marshall he gave us a lot of attitude and said "i can't put a gun to there head". All we wanted was him to politely say please hurry up the pace of play.
Found course pro "Ryan" to have a lot of attitude when we mentioned the slow play after the round. The basic answer was too bad we don't value your business. I come down here 6 weeks a year and will never play this course or recommend it after the attitude received from the course pro and marshall! There 20 year old kids running the place and don't understand customer service.
I use to play this course a lot and ever since they expanded the resort it seems they load the course up with too many groups in order to gain as much revenue as possible.
Outstanding course with very friendly staff
Beautiful course and in great condition. Staff was great! Worth the money. This course will challenge your game.
Beautiful course
Played 14 holes before it got dark. Excellent value. $70 for 18 holes. The couple we were playing with were very slow. Probably could have got in a few more holes.
Very good 1st impression, followed by good experience.
Starter offers electronic pagers to call each group to the tee-box. Beautiful course layout. No noticeable homes, you feel secluded from habitation. Very good practice area, nice pro-shop. Would definitely return.
So far "top of the list" for this trip to Palm Springs area. First time playing Desert Willow.
Our second trip to this area. From the 1st trip, we picked the Greg Norman ( PGA West )...this second trip puts Desert Willow right up there with the Norman course. Very good practice area....unique "pager" is given to all golfers for a notification of tee time position. Very enjoyable experience.
Great round
Beautiful course and playable for a high handicapper like me. Didn't like the mowing and blowing on the back nine while we were playing. Made it difficult to breathe and very distracting.
My wife and I always enjoy our Desert Willow experience.
From the moment you arrive to the time you depart, staff takes good care of you. Good service curbside, pro shop, dining, etc. The courses at Desert Willow are always in great condition. Sometimes the rounds can get quite long ..... 5 hrs .... but not this time of year.
The staff was very friendly. Course in great condition.
Great experience from beginning to end. Staff was courteous and friendly. Range facilities were great and never felt pushed. As if we could tee off whenever we felt ready. GPS and on course amenities were also very well maintained. We would recommend this course as a wonderful experience and good value.
Always a memorable experience
This course, along with its sister course Firecliff, is a favorite golf stop for us when visiting the desert. Picturesque, it summons skills for every facet of the game, offering a complete golf experience. I have never played this course when it was not in excellent shape and clearly the staff takes pride in its appearance. The wide fairways are forgiving but don't expect to be let off the hook entirely. Bunkers and water hazards are there to keep you in line. I would always include this course in my itinerary. You can find less expensive courses to play, but the Willow Desert courses offer more than most for the money.
Nice Track
First course of our trip to Palm Springs and we said if there all like this will have no complaints. Greens were tricky to read but course was great and staff were friendly
Green were slow. Nice looking club house and golf shop. Makes you want to buy something or meet wife afterwards for dinner
paired up with a grand father and his grandson who smoked pot during the round.
Difficult greens
The course sets up for ball placement and strategic golf course management versus your pound the ball mentality. For me, it was all that was asked for as I knew it would challenge my game. Having short iron control is a plus. Pin placement wasn't difficult. The multi tiered greens were a challenge. Great experience!
Great couse with great staff.
Great course in great shape with excellent staff. Good pace of play; they don't load the course.
First class course.
Played here 30th August excellent from start to finish, staff very friendly.Course in really good condition. It was millionaires golf no one in front or behind.
