Mountain View at Desert Willow Golf Resort
About
The second of two Michael Hurdzan and Dana Fry designs at Desert Willow resort in Cathedral City, Mountain View is a little shorter (6,913 yards) and boasts wider fairways than the Firecliff Course.
There are also half as many bunkers as at Firecliff. Which still means there are 98 here.
Still, water comes into play more on Mountain View. The course name is no misnomer either. Golfers actually do get great views of the Santa Rosa Mountains as they take on Hurdzan's desert landscaping. This is resort golf with real nature touches.

Great desert course
Great course with no houses on it. Was in good shape, tough greens no flat areas, nice club house, 5 star public course. took 4 3/4 hours which we were told was slow due to 5 groups of women back to back earlier in the day that backed things up.
great course
This course was in pristine condition. It played a little slow as 2 in our group were playing the back tees when they should have neen playing white. If the players were encouraged to play the proper tees, it would play much faster.
Such a terrific course and setting
As always in our experience, Desert Willows delivers. It is a terrific resort track in amazing condition. Just a great all around day there. Only issue - range was down - apparently always down 12:00 to 3:00 on Thursdays for picking and cutting..
This course is well laid out and landscaped
We play this course every year. In my mind it's the best course in the valley for my game, an 18 hcp. THe fairways are a little forgiving, but the size and number of bunkers make it challenging.
Played the Mountain View course. Overall in great shape except for several tee boxes need attention.
Good course overall and the pace of play on the Mountain View was outstanding, just under 4 hours.
Best maintained course!
Can't go wrong playing here. Both courses seem like twins but mountain maybe a hair easier. Highly recommend!
Nice Outting
Really nice place. Watch that breakfast sandwich it is a load I did not know they made croissant that big. The grasses were excellent the staff was very out going. The starter might have been the best in the valley. I am not sure on the rakeless bunkers, that was new to me. Course had plenty of challenges but I understand the Firecliff has even more.
great course
Tough course but never get tired of this course. Golfnow gives me a good deal. love to play again and again. Great course
Beautiful scenery, course was in great condition One of our favourite desert courses
Always play Desert Willows on our trip to the desert. Course is in great shape and every hole is different with wonderful views to the desert and mountains. Good pace of play. Very good restaurant, pro shop, and Practise facility
Great Public Course
This course was in the best shape of any public course I've played and the mountain views were stunning.
A PLEASANT EXPERIENCE
This is your typical high priced desert resort course. A little forgiving with open fairways. In good shape. Golf now saved me good dollars. Would I pay more,,,, no.
This course has wide fairways, yet still has a higher than expected Slope/Rating.
The course was in good condition except for the unusual bunker storgae units. They simply do not work and are a waste of time. Pace of play was fine. The course is rated more difficult than it actually plays. The ladies tees are very nice and make the holes very playable.
Great Mountain Vistas.....Good Feel
Course gets plenty of play this time of year. Teed off at `1235 and finished with no problems. Course is in great condition, play moves along at good pace. There is alot of water but with the GPS system you can manage your shots. Fairways wide, greens faster but not fast, course in very good condition. Only drawback is the construction noise of the time shares on about 6 holes
Beautiful but slow
They overbooked the course. We were only 10 minutes apart in tee times and we were all foursomes. That is too tight. It was beautiful, but it was a slog.
Friendly fairways
A nice course but the bunkers were in poor condition which made it tougher for all the players
This course was beautiful and challenging. What a day!
Thank you Desert Willow for making my holiday a true holiday dream come true. I plan on playing there again in 2013. The course and staff were tremendous and my daughter (not a player) thought she had never seen such a beautiful setting for golf.
Booked on Golfnew.com. Was joined with a group of guys from Canada. We all had a great time on a beautiful afternoon.
Desert Willow is a fabulous track and tee boxes, fairways, bunkers and greens are in excellent condition. The club staff are friendly and very helpful. Keep up the excellent service!
My only complaint is that no one from the club was on the course to maintain pace of play! A course marshall, who keeps the pace of play, is a critical role to overall satisfaction from the paying public.
The greens were very, very slow compared to when we played this course awile ago.
We love this course. It is very open off the tee and you know where you are going. Some holes like #9 are tough from the forward tee's because your second shot is a lay up and a long 3 wood ahead. Fairways are great. Great base for the grass.
Course was very nicely laid out.
Nice course, very scenic. Played just before re-seeding so the greens were very hard to read. No fault of the golf course.
very well run course
Every one was spectacular the only down grade were the greens were alittle rough for paying 100.00 plus
