Mountain View at Desert Willow Golf Resort
About
The second of two Michael Hurdzan and Dana Fry designs at Desert Willow resort in Cathedral City, Mountain View is a little shorter (6,913 yards) and boasts wider fairways than the Firecliff Course.
There are also half as many bunkers as at Firecliff. Which still means there are 98 here.
Still, water comes into play more on Mountain View. The course name is no misnomer either. Golfers actually do get great views of the Santa Rosa Mountains as they take on Hurdzan's desert landscaping. This is resort golf with real nature touches.

A resort course that plays a liittle longer
Open to the eye but the traps are waiting ... course stretches your game... a great place to play.
Excellent Course - Outstanding Value!!!
I've played Desert Willow several times. It is ALWAYS in great shape. We played in the afternoon to get a $27 rate and there was no one in front of or behind us. One of the prettiest courses I know of and an outstanding value for the cheap summer rates. They provide a cooler, towels, and free water at the start and there are many ice machines and more water along the course which makes summer play very enjoyable (even in the hottest part of the day). Wish I had booked more days here instead of trying other inferior courses...
Nice course
Pretty typical desert layout with some challenging holes.
Course Is In Great Shape - Drink Lots of Water
Staff is great and course is in its usual great shape. I would have given it 5 stars but the greens are very slow. Seems to be a challenge with most of the courses here in the desert right now.
Great layout
Course has a great layout. Plenty of bunkers to get stuck in. Greens were as hard as rocks, but considering the heat you have to expect them to play firm. Fun course and will come back.
Course has nice veiws
The only reason I did not give this course a 5 star rating is because the greens were pretty dry and patchy in spots. Other than that, the course is a great course and in great shape and nice views.
A wonderful course with the right amount of challenges
A wonderful course with the right amount of challenges
A beautiful course with te right amount of challenges
A wonderfully maintained course with great imagination on the holes designs. We love playing the course again and again for the past 15 years.
Fun course
Played it for the second time and loved it as much as the first time!
Great course.
Fairways were in fabulous shape, especially for late May.
Greens were a slightly burned out in spots. They were a bit firm and did not always bite well, but they rolled true.
A very enjoyable golf experience.
in great condition
The course was in great condition, beautifully landscaped,
showed awareness of environmental concerns and was nicely challenging.
Great course
One of my favorite courses in the Palm Desert area. It's always in excellent shape. We play this course every year and will continue to play every year.
Stunning!
A treat to play, will be back again and again! The course was in prestine condition, it wasn't too busy and the rates were great.
Course in great shape
The Mountain View course is a great way to open a golfing vacation. Nice generous landing areas, the fairways were pristine. Smaller greens kept the challenge of shotmaking right in front of you.
A bit of nearby construction was a distraction at times but not a big deal.
Wll try the Firecliff course on the next visit.
Desert Willow-Mountain
This course is in pristine condition. The greens are fast and true with subtle breaks not severely undulated. Fairways are fairly wide and in perfect condition. They grass isn't to short therefore the ball sit up. Bunkers are well maintained with good sand. Overall myself and playing partnered enjoyed the course and will play it again.
Beautiful course, superb condition
Second time playing here in last two months. It is a must play for us when we are in the Palm Desert area. Everyone involved from bag drop to pro shop, starter, etc. very profession and the course is georgous. Not an inexpensive course but delivers for the price.
Challenging but fair, requiring good course mangement
A good track with equal opportunity to shape shots to achieve good results but at the same time, penalize for less than optimum swings.
I love both courses at Desert Willow.
Beautifully maintained, fair test of golf, great staff.
I enjoyed this course
Extremely friendly staff and great course, I played the Firecliff course and be careful not to be distracted by the views.
Lived up to its advance billing
I've played 12+ different courses in Palm Springs. People kept recommending Desert Willow. It lives up to the recommendations. Immaculate condition. Good pace of play. Beautiful layout. It's a course I want to play again.
