Dog Track
I've driven by this course many times. Decided to play it mid-day this past Sunday as a twosome. My worst expectations came true on this round. The day was beautiful...hadn't rained in nearly two weeks and the course looks like it could be nice. First, nearly every hole was muddy on the fairways and hadn't been tended to in a while. Every fairway had white flowering weeds which is a problem for a game that mostly uses white balls. It made the round lengthy when you are limited to cart paths only and you are not sure where exactly your ball went. I didn't miss the first five fairways on drives but lost four balls off the tee box becasue it was either camoflauged by the weeds or plugged in the mud or in the standing water on the fairways. Walking on fairways where my shoes sunk in the mud makes for a very frustrating round and an impossible ball search.
I wouldn't so much say we enjoyed the round as much as we were resigned to it. Its January, I get it, but if you want to charge to play...you have to manage and maintain the course to a playable level. Napa was not. They say the worst day golfing is better than the best day working...it was not true on this course on this day. Perhaps I'll play it in summer if the price is right and the course is dry as it does look like it has interesting holes...but certainly not for the next several months at the very earliest.
napa golf
My local course, napa golf, was in excellent shape.
Greens were perfect, fairways were good, sand traps were average, rough was okay
9th fairway was very wet , as usual during the winter months, the rest of the course has been improving over the last couple of years
Great value for beginners
If your not looking for a fancy, stuffy course and you are a beginner, this is s good course. It seemed to be a little neglected and in need of repairs. We are horrible golfers so for us it was s fun day day but if your a serious golfer you might be disappointed.
Sunday golf
Course was very muddy and in very poor condition. I quit after 9 holes.
Disappointing
Our club played this course six months ago. The deterioration since then was dramatic. The greens were the highlight, albeit a bit slow. I understand the damage by borrowing pigs, but bare spots, poor bunkers, rough cart paths, carts in poor repair, no water in ball washers, (plus skunk odor in the clubhouse) added up to a disappointing experience, despite the discounted price. It's a great old course and a real asset to the area. Just hope they can turn it around.
best ever conditions
Napa Golf course (Kennedy) was the best conditions overall since moving to Napa in 85.
Tee boxes to greens were amazing, Greens were perfect, Sand traps were good, Fairways are cut short with little rough grass outlining the fairways, Tee boxes were good. Course has plenty of challenges with water hazards on 12 holes. Great layout
Great Day
Kennedy is in great shape and playing well the greens a very good
Glad to see the work being done on 9 with the new seed
The pace of play was just excellent today although as we were playing singles seemed to come from no where especially on the back 9
Hope to be back soon
Well played round
The course played well except for 11 what is up with the left side around the green. The rest of the course was in great shape and the pace of play was the best I have ever experienced there . Also the person you checked me in was just so positive that it started my round off nicely. I will be back to play soon . Thanks for a great round .
slow play
fivesomes are ruining the game. Our foursome ended up with two of our party going home after nine holes.
course is in great condition
very nice layout, friendly staff, golf carts have usb chargers onboard. greens have been aereated about month ago and is in great shape. fairways very well maintained, overall had a great experience.
Improving
I have been playing the course for 40 plus years. It's had it's issues, but is getting better & better. The dead trees have been removed, but that isn't the courses fault it's just that most of the tree's have lived out their lifespan. The course was built in 1968. I think with the first cut of rough made just and inch high & the greens brought back to their original speed, like when they are verticut it presents more than a challenge to even the most experienced golfer.
Nice course but some bunkers need work.
The bunker on the number 12 was full of what looked like gofer holes. So I had to play it as ground under repair. It should have been signed as such.
The course itself was fun to play, but I had to jump around to different holes because of the fivesomes that I came up on.
A message to Golf Now, my tee time was 12:30 p.m., not 7:30 A.M.
Marshall no where in sight
The front 9 was fine, nobody in front is us so the pace was perfect. When we got to the back 9 however things changes completely. There was a 4 some in front of us (I was a 2 some) and you could tell they were there just for fun. They would take several minutes inbetween everyone's shot and they would drive the cart right up to the green and park their cart. On a couple holes there were carts sitting there like they were supposed to trick you thinking it was a Marshall watching. The sand traps were in terrible shape and a majority of them had weeds growing in them. I think they flooded the course over night with water because there were puddles all over the course including some of the fairways. My first and last time playing here.
Unplayable pace
Memorial Day, so of course it is crowded. But the pro shop made zero attempt to manage groupings and start times. No starter. Groups of 1 or 2 we’re playing slow and refusing to group up into foursomes. Take control of your tee times and groupings.
