Arthur Hills designed the Padre Course at Camelback Golf Club to deliver a fun round that's tough to forget. Trees tower, landforms show subtly, and bunkers improve your golf skills. The par-72 golf course measures 6,903 yards, and has gained its renown by offering a design that requires strategy.

A round of golf on the Padre Course at the Camelback Golf Club kicks off on the par-4 first hole, which measures 446 yards from the black tees. Things get long on the fifth hole, a par 5 that comes in at 553 yards from the black tees, one of four 500-plus-yard holes. The 18th hole is one of these: It's 547 yards from the black tee to the post-round celebration.

After your round on the Padre Course at Camelback Golf Club, head to the Golf Grill, serving U.S. cuisine and a fancy Sunday brunch in the style of Southwestern country clubs. There's also a luxury lounge where you can spend winters on the patio by the fireplace.

good warm up round

played from the black tees but fairways and greens are hard so it plays much shorter.
Nothing to special about the course. Paid a very low green fee after 3pm. Some greens are pretty tricky and couple par 3's are difficult.

NICE COURSE

NO OFFENSE TO THE PADRE COURSE
VERY STRAIGHT FORWARD COURSE, NOTHING FANCY AND NOTHING MEMORABLE.
I WOULD SAY NOT WORTH THE RATE I PAID (97$)
BUT,
IF YOU WANT TO PLAY A GOOD WARM UP COURSE THEN THIS IS THE ONE. IT WAS IN GOOD SHAPE AND GREENS SMOOTH AND ROLLED GOOD
DROP THE RATE TO 50-60$ .
STAFF VERY FRIENDLY

Nice course, could use a marshal

Nice course, fun on most holes, some are a challenge. could use a marshal that paid attention. We were close to sundown at the end of our round and finished in the dark. Should have had plenty of time.

Different course but fun to play

We played the padre course This was a great fun course to play with all the dormant grass around the fairways. Greens were unreal and the fairways were nice and firm so your ball got a great roll .Lots of different holes which makes it intresting I would highly recommend it to anyone of all levels.

Bad experience

Had a round over 4 hours 40 minutes, and paired with a 10 year old. Was frustrated and annoyed and spent way too much money to be feeling that way. Didn't see a course marshal until the 15th hole and he claimed - impolitely by the way - that the group in front of us was on pace, even though they were more than 2 holes behind. We were told that we were playing with a junior golfer who was escorted by his grandfather. The young man was an excellent little player, but his grandfather didn't know the game so there was talking, cart in the wrong place, etc. Understandably, he got a little bored because the pace was slow and was putting balls across the green while we were playing and was playing around in the sand. I don't blame him at all - he's 10 years old.. it was poor judgement to have him out there on such a busy day. It was made worse by the slow pace. We could have brushed off either one of those circumstances alone, but together it made for a bad experience.

The golf pro gave us his card and said to call next time and he " would take care of it", but that fell short of taking my name to make sure there would be a credit, or better, give me a partial refund on the over $300 it cost for the two of us to play.

The course was in good condition, but the holes are all very similar. The homes lining the course were more interesting than the terrain. Would not go back - probably won't even try to redeem my supposed credit. We play alot of golf around Scottsdale. This is off the list.

Slow pace of play!

A potentially great experience was spoiled by having to play behind a slow scramble tournament.

Don't miss the Padre................................

Ok, so I have read the last few reviews left on this course, which made me a bit concerned about our choice to play. Wrong - wrong WRONG. I have played this course over the last few years and stopped due to the continuous declining conditions. I heard that Marriott threw some $$ at the conditions and what I heard was correct. The greens - very smooth, absolute even coverage of grass, true rolling and at a competitive speed providing the greens some defense! Secondly the tees are flat level and at multiple yardages to accommodate any aptitude of skill. This a VERY good Arthur Hills design challenging all levels. There are 8 holes with water actively in play, which for the desert valley is a great attribute. Depending on skill, there are 4 or 5 holes (par 4's) where driver might not be the best play with an emphasis on placement of your tee ball is a priority. Continuing with the design variety there are 6 elevated greens, again testing your skill to avoid the green front hazards & providing a chance for birdie. Playing in the winter months the Bermuda rough was brown and could be left to grow a bit and offer some challenge to keep the ball in the fairway. The pace of play on the front side was near perfect (my buddy and I and our wives) played in 1 hr. 50 minutes. The back was a bit slower as two groups were inserted in front of us, and even with that the round was done in 4 hours 5 minutes. The beverage cart stopped/passed us at least 3 times on each 9, and the greeting staff and club cleaning crew were very helpful.
I would like to congratulate Marriott on $$ well spent and encourage the team to keep up their excellent work on the great Arthur Hills Design.

Good course

A lot less desert than the other courses we played around Scottsdale, making it at least feel quite a bit easier. If you're tired of getting thorned searching for your ball in the desert, this is a good option. Course condition was good-average.

Probably less value compared to the other courses we played for the same price (Vista, Troon North, Quintero, Boulders), but a lot more accessible.

Marriott should be imbarrassed!

We have played numerous Marriott resort golf courses. Camelback was a huge disappointment. Even more so with the high rate they charge. Poorly designed many holes and condition. My wife and I both wonder if management at Marriott really know this. Having just played Marriotts Wildfire course which as usual was great, Camelback was a dog tract.
