Bumpy greens
Enjoyable layout, but course conditions are just OK. Lots of soggy areas. The area between the #15 green and the #16 tee box was flooded out. Greens are still recovering from recent aeration - bumpy and slow. Sign on the pro shop says 2 persons per cart - no sure that complies with CDC guidelines. I was a single, so it didn't apply, but could have been an issue.
New Ownership Turned it Around
The new ownership has really turned this place around. Great layout and the conditions have improved significantly over the past 6 months.
greens fee? horrible greens
On a Saturday showed up for some late afternoon golf, first hole looking great, fairway in good condition even in the florida heat. however, the greens were aerated and it was impossible to putt which is 60% of the game, chips were plugging in holes on the greens. very disappointed, staff should be coached to give golfers a heads up before paying for a round “hey you can’t putt today greens are under work” when i questioned it all staff said was “well it’s discounted” same rate next saturday and the one after. very disappointing day of golf.
Disappointed
Booked via the GolfNow app, which was seamless. When we got to the course today, we were told that the greens had been aerated. This was not listed on the GolfNow app, but I don't blame GolfNow. A short time later, we were told by the beer cart employee that the club had recently been sold and that the liquor license was not transferred to the new owners. So there would be no beer sold on the course. We still had a good time but I believe that this information should have been disclosed prior to booking.
Aeration of Greens
The greens were just aerated less than one week and golf course still change full price. I asked for discount and was told manager is on leave and it was his decision to charge full price
Great Layout, Poor Conditions
I really wish courses or golf now would list when courses are getting treatment. I understand it’s that time of year in Florida and heavy rains occur everyday, but we were very disappointed when we showed up to see the greens being aerated. Greens were as bumpy as a gravel driveway. I’d suggest waiting a few weeks before booking here.
Very Forgettable Round
Had no idea front nine was closed for aerification; they could have easily have told us that when we called prior to leaving for course. We were told to play back nine twice. What a negative experience, the greens on back nine were punched the day before and lacked sand and were unputtable. The restaurant was closed for renovations and the course was overgrown and saturated...fairway tee shots plugged and balls in rough were almost impossible to find. Oh yes, the maintenance crew was cutting grass at 10:30, directly in front of us while teeing off, without a care. Very bad experience for my beginner wife. We quite after 7 holes and won't be back.
Terrible course conditions
I played this course today for the first time, it was terrible! The greens where like been in Clearwater beach, the course was in a shocking condition. I highly recommend you never go to this course. I will not go back here.
Frustrating day at Northdale!
I have played here 7-8 times in the past 6 months, so I thought we were getting a good deal for a $20 round on a Wednesday morning. Got there and was informed that we would be playing back 9 twice, as the front 9 was closed for aerification of the greens. The greens on the back were just punched recently, but nothing about it online. Greens were not great, as balls bounced on the greens as soon as left the putter, (Give it another week or so, greens should be good again). We were making the best of it, until the 16th hole. The guys mowing didn't seem to care we were on the tee box waiting and they kept mowing in the middle of the fairway. The next time we came around, the mowers were on the par-3 17th. Again, they took their time getting out of the way. We weren't in any rush, so no big deal, until I hit my shot to the left and it landed between the green and bunker 7-8 yards from the hole. Mower proceeded to drive over my ball. We end up finding my ball on the other side of the green and almost sliced in half. I was not amused. Told the guy in the pro ship, after the round, so he was aware. He gave me a ball with Northdale logo on it to make up for it. Will be back, as it has been a fun course to play and is usually in good condition.
Good course
Nice conditions and easier to play. No waiting. I'll be back.
Nice Day!!!
All was good on the course for the money... only thing to say was that they had received a bunch of rain the day before. They made it cart path only when it did not need it to be. Course has great drainage..
BIG Improvement-but one caution!
There is new ownership here and they are doing a really good job. The TEES are as good as I have seen anywhere and the greens are in excellent condition. Nice speed, just a few bumps but still very good.
The fairways are much improved and there are very few bare spots. I was impressed by the improved status.
The CAUTION-their standard policy is TWO TO A CART, especially on the weekends. This is the only course in a 40 mile radius in which I play where they don't normally allow single player carts. I would not play that way at the current time in FL. But you will have to decide for yourself.
Otherwise I recommend playing here.
Great Course
Have played this course a lot with a mens league on Sundays about 2 years ago. Left due to course conditions. Decided to play yesterday with a friend and I will say a great improvement. Confirmed place was bought out by a new ownership group back in February this year. Tee boxes have grass and in good shape, still need to work on the weeds, fairways in great condition, actual grass now and continue to work on weeding out the weeds, the greens were fantastic. Some needed to be de-weeded but all in all great shape. It is nice to see someone putting money into a nice course. More people should play as no one was out there. The club House is being renovated so bring what you need to survive out there.
Nice course
Great staff and nice course. Greens were fast but accurate. Great value!
