Slowest course in O.C.
I walk this course because the pace is just too slow to get a cart. I played past 2 groups (in carts) because there was 2 open holes in front and they complained I passed them. I then joined a nice 3 some and sat in back of 2 other groups that honestly believed that since they paid...No one was going to pass them and play through. This isn't a one time event here at this course. People at RSJ just get mad if you ask to play through even when you wait on every shot and there are at least 2 open holes in front of them. Guy told me I couldn't play through because he paid, so I asked him if he lets people pass him on the toll roads and he said yes, so I said well buddy you are camped out in the fast lane driving 45 MPH and now there are 3 groups piled up in back of you...Him and his friends just didn't care and said they didn't want their day ruined by me passing them. That logic is insane. I hate this course and it's slow play that the pro shop just doesn't care about. People play here in 4.5 or 4.75 hours and actually say that the pace was good. Unbelievable.
Shot my personal low
Fun course and pace of play was good. Finished the round in 4 hours and 9 minutes
Needs attention
The location is nice and the train is fairly flat. Overall it’s in decent condition. The greens had more Davidson them that I’ve ever seen. The ambassador and or Marshall were nonexistent. Saw him drive-by once and he did not even wave. We had an early morning teatime and we’re waiting five minutes per hole. Would have been nice if Marshall did their job and addressed pace of play especially for an early morning weekend time.
RSQ-Irvine
Course chewed up. Fairways not good condition. Greens were super slow and spongy.
Great course for what you pay!
I absolutely loved this place! Waiting to see the new club house open up next year
Horrible
Awful course. Pace was terrible. Tee boxes were like concrete. Layout is horrendous. I will never play here again and the price was a ripoff. $68 goat farm to be honest.
Return of RSJ
I have been playing at this course for a long time.
It was sad when it has been worsen due to lack of maintenance under the previous ownership. Fortunately I could see that it is being much improved after the current new owner purchased. I was impressed to see the return of RSJ where it is nice and pleasant to play at.
Under Construction
Greens are fantastic, but several fairways have extensive maintenance going on. Good use of “Ambassadors” and “Marshals”. Restaurant is undergoing a full rebuild, very limited refreshment selection in cold case.
Course is in nice condition right now.
Pace of play was decent for once. finished in 4 hours 10 min. on a Thus. 12:20 tee time. That is considered very good for this course as it is well known to be one of the slowest in O.C. The one thing I don't like about this course is it's location...It's right up the Back Bay and the wind funnels through the back bay right to the course...Then like clock work around 2 to 2:30 the wind turns direction and blows back out to the ocean, meaning it seems almost every hole is into the wind....Sometimes. Greens where in great shape and the pin placements where tough.
Slow Round
This course is usually in pretty decent shape and greens are typically above average. This round fell short of my expectations but hopefully they’ll get it back into shape. Pace was really bad as it took about 5 hours to complete round. Definitely not worth $90 but will play here again at some point.
