Garbage cow pasture
Played there today. Have been a member on and off since 2009 when I moved out from Chicago. Layout is great, but nobody there knows how to tend to a course. I've played on courses in the middle of Winter back in Chicago that are in better shape. Does anyone there know the difference in cut between a fairway and rough, or how to manicure a green. 5' downhill puts should not require a driver to get the ball to the hole. Learn how to roll and cut a green. You should hire someone from Shorecliffs played there last week, same amount of rain even though they too are doing work on course and clubhouse (don't get me started there) course is night and day better. As for clubhouse and bar, whoever your contractor is they really have no clue. I specialize in restaurants and from time you started to now you would be about 3 weeks from open date. Better change your sign to fall 2023 at this rate.
Missed Opportunities
I live right next to this course and will not be playing here again any time soon. The price to walk is astronomical for what the course is in perfect condition, and it's nowhere near that. The rain hasn't allowed them to mow, which is fine, but maybe consider mentioning the half the greens are punched when the tee time is being booked. There must have been a league or tournament as well as the front 9 took nearly 3 hours. Sucks this place isn't run better cuz I would be here 2-3 times a month. Plan for an extra 30 at least if you want to hit the range as every bay is full and has a person waiting.
Just horrible
I just don't understand. This is a nice little course and the views are great for being within the city but I think it will be my last time playing here. A 5 hour pace of play during the week is a crime and nobody seems to care here at all. Pro shop and ambassadors could care less and what's worse the players here are the most inconsiderate I've ever come across. This isn't a one time thing. I've played this course about 20 times and have only played a sub 3.5 hour round once and a sub 4.5 hour round about 5 times. So, that means 75% of the time it takes at least 4.5 to 5.5 hours to play here and I've quit a few times at around 5 hours on the 13 or 14 hole. golfers will not let you play through here at all. They will just look at you in disbelief on why you would want to play through after waiting 3 minutes on every shot for 3 straight holes. and If you ask them to let you play through they get insulted and say it's not them it's the people just leaving the green (while they're still on the tee box of a par 4). I had an ambassador theater to kick me off because I passed 3 groups on one par 5 and went in front of them ( there was 3 empty holes). My friends and I usually walk and play at around 3.5 hours, in a cart we usually play in about 3.25 hours and 3 of those guys are 18 handicap players. I have no problem playing in 4 hours or even 4.5 hours on a nice day but there is just no excuse for any golf course to take 5 plus hours to play when there are golf Marshalls and 2 guys in the pro shop .
