Willowick Golf Course
About
Opened in 1929, Willowick Golf Course in Santa Ana is Orange County's oldest public golf course. It is a challenging layout that has garnered a quite a following over the years. The course features wide fairways and large greens that offer ample room. There aren’t any water hazards a few strategically placed sand traps come into play and there are also mature trees lining the fairways. Golfers will get to practice a variety of different shots on this course. It is player-friendly enough for high-handicappers but there are still some challenges for low handicappers. The excellent condition of the greens and fairways are inviting no matter what your skill level. In addition to the golf course, Willowick also offers a grass driving range and three practice putting greens.

Ok.
Fairway lot of damaged glass by mole rap..
Most course are need good maintenance.
Thank you.
My experience at Willowick
It’s got a nice layout for a muni. But the fairways have no grass. Gopher holes and pace of play was very slow. Need a helmet when out in the fairways. Greens need to be kept up. But the staff was very nice.
Course in really bad condition, greens were OK
I played here with a small group because i was able to book 3 weeks in advance but definitely not playing again as there is no grass on the fairway. High changed you will mess your swing or get injured. Greens and tees are very close to each other so very dangerous as balls came very close to my group several times.
I hope owner or management decide to put some money to inprove the course.
Worst course I have ever played.
Course is absolutely trash, on the plus side they let us bring our dog along.
Playable but rough movement thru course
It’s a “get what you pay for” outing. Of course, it’s fair priced and challenging. The fairways are infested with gofer and their hills of dirt, bumps, holes, etc. a kidney belt would have helped. It was Veterans Day and I think the greens keeper was trying to simulate combat conditions for us… I really can’t remember a more difficult, evil pin placement throughout…but, it was playable, and I enjoyed it…at least my good (although dew) shots. Yes, if I needed to golf and I could get a time, I’d do it again.
Worst course iv been to in so cal
The worst kept course iv been to
No way should they be charging what they do
Poorly maintained golf course. Homeless people living on the course!
Not surprising that very few players were on this course on a Sunday early afternoon as it is so poorly maintained. Lost several balls due to too many to count patches of unmowed grass. Tee off and fairways and greens all bumpy, filled with holes, and debrus not coeaned up. Many walls filled with graffiti and curse words. Homeless people living in a tent with trash strewn around on one of the last holes.
Why the owners do not spend the money on removing graffiti and homeless people and cutting the grass is beyond me. This would be my last choice golf course if nothing ekse were available.
Bad Golfer
I'm a bad golfer, so for me, this place is perfect. Easy course, and down to earth people.
Slow play
Had 2 groups waiting on each tee box. Left after 9 holes. The round was on pace to be over 5 hours with 2-somes throughout the course.
Prepare for a helmet before you go.
Course design is awful. No protection trees between holes and Balls were coming from front and diagonals. Balls hit our cart twice, but never knew where it came from. Prepare for a helmet before you go.
Another 3.5 hour round while walking.
I know, I was bummed that I had to wait on each of the last 3 holes otherwise it would have been about 3 hours and 15 minutes.....and that my friends is why I keep coming back to the WICK. The tee boxes are pretty bad, the fairways are real bad with gopher holes and dirt everywhere and the greens can get horrible since hardly anyone ever fixes a divot from their approach shot. However, I can live with all that as it just makes it a bit more challenging. What I can't live with is 5 hour rounds from people in carts that don't care that they are making you wait on every hole while they hit 2 or 3 balls and line up every 3 foot putt like its for 1 million dollars....If you want that, then play at any public course in Irvine, Fountain Valley, Huntington Beach and Costa Mesa, but whatever you do, don't bring that horrible game here. I have played here many times when the parking lot has been full and still played in under 4 hours every time, even with people in my group shooting in the high 90's to low 100's. It's an amazing anomaly in Orange County (for courses under $125) to play so fast and everyone that plays here gets it. So, if you can't play a round of golf in under 4 hours while riding in a cart and crushing a 12 pack then don't even bother coming here.
Poor course management
Played course years ago & it was fine. Now there is no maintenance & poor course conditions.
