Willowick Golf Course
About
Opened in 1929, Willowick Golf Course in Santa Ana is Orange County's oldest public golf course. It is a challenging layout that has garnered a quite a following over the years. The course features wide fairways and large greens that offer ample room. There aren’t any water hazards a few strategically placed sand traps come into play and there are also mature trees lining the fairways. Golfers will get to practice a variety of different shots on this course. It is player-friendly enough for high-handicappers but there are still some challenges for low handicappers. The excellent condition of the greens and fairways are inviting no matter what your skill level. In addition to the golf course, Willowick also offers a grass driving range and three practice putting greens.

Poor Experience
The cart died five holes in and when I called an asked for a replacement they said someone would come right out. 20 minutes later, groups are behind us that we allowed to play through. Walked back in five minutes to the clubhouse where I was informed “it was in neutral” and that a technician was at the cart when nobody showed up.
It’s ok
I would say this course is good for beginners but it also needs a lot of work. Tons of holes for moles everywhere, green was really bumpy and most of the course was really bumpy. Also, our cart died at the 7th hole, so we had to leave it behind and just call it a day.
Poor
The course is in poor condition ...The course has the poorish classe of golfers of any Ive played..The greens are in poor condition ..Overall ,, I play it for the money saved...Obviously I,m not playing this course for any reason other than money and it’s close to my home..
Poor green condition
Greens are patched here and there and rough. Fairways are bumpy and bare.
Practice
Good course to practice you tee shots and short game , wide open hard to lose your ball no water. Fairways had a lot of dirt
Greens need help
Pace of play was good wasn’t held up until the 15th hole
Layout is good. The greens are good. Fairways are horrible.
What happened to this course
I have played Willowick for over 20 years but not for a few years. The greens used to be nice now they are horrible. The fairways are in bad condition and the rough is like driving through a land mine. A beer and dog would have been nice but the snack bar was closed. You could play this or just go to junk yard and make your own course there.
Great weekday round
Great day at Willowick. Pace of play was superb and conditions were good. Overall I really like playing at Willowick - it is well priced and a fun round of golf.
Golf disappointment
Fairways were dry and many gofer holes,Greens had trimmed downed weeds ,made ball bounce during putting, but worst of all were the multiple homeless encampments throughout the couce. Will not be playing there again
course is in very bad shape
I'm sure at one time this was a nice course but it is in rough shape and beat up. The tee boxes are ridiculously bad and greens also have been recently punched which made the course even worse. It should be considered a 2 putt max on the greens as they stand. 1st time playing it and the last, I'd much rather pay $20 more and get a much better course somewhere else.
