About
Opened in 1929, Willowick Golf Course in Santa Ana is Orange County's oldest public golf course. It is a challenging layout that has garnered a quite a following over the years. The course features wide fairways and large greens that offer ample room. There aren’t any water hazards a few strategically placed sand traps come into play and there are also mature trees lining the fairways. Golfers will get to practice a variety of different shots on this course. It is player-friendly enough for high-handicappers but there are still some challenges for low handicappers. The excellent condition of the greens and fairways are inviting no matter what your skill level. In addition to the golf course, Willowick also offers a grass driving range and three practice putting greens.

Poor course management
Played course years ago & it was fine. Now there is no maintenance & poor course conditions.
Poor course conditions all 18 holes tee ground is bad. Including on the green or around green. waste money to play this course. So disappointed!
CAUTION: Aerating the greens
When we booked on Golf Now, there was no mention of the greens under repair (aerating).
This should have been fully disclosed at the time of the booking.
Greens in horrible shape
Greens were plugged and beach like. Oversanded! Was half an inch thick ABOVE the grass in spots. And only had 9 holes open, so slow. No warning when booked! Starter gave us a small discount, but still not worth it. Played other courses after aeration and they looked nothing like this
Promising course but not taken care of
The fairways are worse than the rough on an average course. The bunkers are like cement (and no it did not rain recently). More than half the greens are patchy with huge chunks a couple inches deep in some places. There are some nice greens that are very good. Nobody calls fore at all and I was almost hit 5+ times but that’s not really on the course. However, after talking to others, it is apparently common for people who golf here to not call fore, ever. Little to no booze available and the bathrooms are in poor conditions. Use the money to actually fix the course because it appears maintenance doesn’t care and nothing is watered.
TOTALLY EXTREMELY VAD WIRST COURSE ...ITS MORE LIKE A FOOTBALL FIELD. TOTAL WASTE OF $ and TIME. BETTER TO SLEEP AT HOME. HORRIBLE TERRIBLE N HORRENDOUS😱😱😱
Bang for your buck
Greens are in ok shape and fairways are decent. When you want a cheap and fun layout during the weekdays, this should be your go to spot. Pace of play is quick. I am a fan for the price.
Nothing special
Conditions were trash. Nobody should lose balls on an open flat course like Willow. They could easily charge 25% more money if they put in 10% more effort. No type of grass should be longer than 6” even in the rough and OB.
