Willowick Golf Course
About
Opened in 1929, Willowick Golf Course in Santa Ana is Orange County's oldest public golf course. It is a challenging layout that has garnered a quite a following over the years. The course features wide fairways and large greens that offer ample room. There aren’t any water hazards a few strategically placed sand traps come into play and there are also mature trees lining the fairways. Golfers will get to practice a variety of different shots on this course. It is player-friendly enough for high-handicappers but there are still some challenges for low handicappers. The excellent condition of the greens and fairways are inviting no matter what your skill level. In addition to the golf course, Willowick also offers a grass driving range and three practice putting greens.

Worst Couse in California Ever Played!
Wait to Tee Shot Ever Hole and Too Dirty Surrounding the FairWay.
I am Visiting From New York I've Been Played Many Golf Courses in California But This Course is Worst Couse, I've Ever Play!!!
Run down
This used to be a very good course but now it has been run down by neglect. The fairways are patchy uneven there's no grass it's just bad.
Willowick Golf Course
The greens were the best I have ever seen them, but the fairways are very thin with many bare spots. The tees are also in need of some work.
Just a place to hit it, and not really lose it
The course played tricky at times trying to find a good place to tee off from. The tees aren’t the best. The greens are the best thing about the place. There were acceptable, playing fast and firm. We made some decent putts. Played under almost perfect conditions. No complaints here, just know it’s really not that great. But it’s a place to hit it.
Pictures Deceiving
First time playing with son. Looked at pictures and reviews, most were negative. Tee box uneven and torn up. Weeds everywhere even on tee box. Fairways hard and real dry. I assume because of water drought can’t water as often. Bumpy fairways Graffiti on walls, rakes on netting something I’ve never seen before. Overall just not enjoyable. Paid for 18 holes but left after 9.
Great Value but has some negatives to it.
Course play was fairly slow considering it was just me and one other behind a single. In front of him were 2 separate groups of 2 people. All in carts. Good value for the course not perfect but can’t find many other good courses for the price with a cart. Good experience and staff. Would go again.
January golf
Played Willowick for the first time in 10 months. The greens were fast and in excellent condition. The course was packed with foursomes in every group, however the pace of play was surprisingly fast. We finished in just over 4 hours. Overall the experience was great and will definitely be playing again in the next couple weeks.
It is just Horrible
Paying $39 with a cart should have been a warning but we rolled the dice and off we went. The course is going to be redeveloped into housing so they do no maintenance, no equipment replacement, minimize staff and pack in as many rounds of golf as they can. The result is a poorly maintained,, no facilities but profitable golf course. No snack shop, no food or drinks for sale, no beverage cart. Shocking fairways full of holes, limited cart paths with holes at the en of each one that shake your kidneys loose, if you find a piece of grass on the tee to tee up your ball at least 1 of your feet will be on sand. No sand in the bunkers, no marshals. Bunkers do not get raked, pitch marks are not repaired but that’s e reflection of the caliber of the players at the course. Hit a ball off course a bit and there is a good chance, like happened to us, someone will steal it. Male bathrooms very dirty and smelly (half of the urinals were covered with black bags). No bathroom facilities on the course and they are locked by the time you finish. Potentially a great course being driven into the ground. Play there if you are desperate or stay home and do chores - same level of fun!
