About
Opened in 1929, Willowick Golf Course in Santa Ana is Orange County's oldest public golf course. It is a challenging layout that has garnered a quite a following over the years. The course features wide fairways and large greens that offer ample room. There aren’t any water hazards a few strategically placed sand traps come into play and there are also mature trees lining the fairways. Golfers will get to practice a variety of different shots on this course. It is player-friendly enough for high-handicappers but there are still some challenges for low handicappers. The excellent condition of the greens and fairways are inviting no matter what your skill level. In addition to the golf course, Willowick also offers a grass driving range and three practice putting greens.

Ugh!
Was desperate to get out to play 18 on a short notice and only found Willowick. The course is in bad shape. Tee boxes are horrendous right now. The fairways are a joke. You need a Ford Raptor to drive on them and cart paths are even worse to drive on. The greens look like a skinned giraffe. The pace was maddening. 5.5 hours. A group of girls in front of us were driving their carts on the greens and parking them there to putt. Then, they’d drive onto the next tee box, park, and tee off. They were actually mad at ME for asking them not to do that. No Marshall? Just a bad experience all around. The girls let us play through but it still took forever to finish. I won’t be coming back. Look elsewhere brothers and sisters. Or, ignore my review and find out how honest I am for yourselves. Play well!…just at another course.
Sad conditions
Course is in sad condition. Several homeless people living on the course.

Muni
Willowick is a nice muni. Greens were in pretty good shape and fairways ok. Course just needs some TLC and it is fine. It allows the use of all clubs and is a fair course.

Fun course
Overall the course is a lot of fun. The fairways are pretty messed up as are many of the greens. But the layout is a really fun and I would definitely come back.

Course Needs a Makeover
My wife and I have played here plenty of times over the last 8 years. It’s never been in pristine shape, but I don’t remember it this bad. Greens are tolerable, the fairways are just the worse! So patchy and bumpy. If you hit it in the fairway you’re hoping that it lands on some decent grass. And the other issue is the snack bar and restaurant still not open. David L Baker even has theirs open! Sorry to say we’re not returning. Too frustrating!

Terrible fairways
Was here on Thursday 9am tee time. Driving range was closed!!! Fairways are full of holes and mud. The only good thing was the greens. Pace of play was like the weekend

Fairways are some of the worst I’ve played. Even the carts paths are brutal. Some of the greens weren’t too bad. Some were very bumpy.

Course in Terrible Shape / Greens OK
I've been playing "the wick" for more than 40 years and this is the worst condition i've seen the fairways.
I took a cart and thought i was in the baja 1000 it was so bumpy and seemed like many areas hadn't been mowed in a while. It was sad to see it that way.
Greens seemed in good shape, but tees and fairways were very bad.
