About
Opened in 1929, Willowick Golf Course in Santa Ana is Orange County's oldest public golf course. It is a challenging layout that has garnered a quite a following over the years. The course features wide fairways and large greens that offer ample room. There aren’t any water hazards a few strategically placed sand traps come into play and there are also mature trees lining the fairways. Golfers will get to practice a variety of different shots on this course. It is player-friendly enough for high-handicappers but there are still some challenges for low handicappers. The excellent condition of the greens and fairways are inviting no matter what your skill level. In addition to the golf course, Willowick also offers a grass driving range and three practice putting greens.

Nice Round, But…
This was the second time playing Willowick. Enjoyed the round, but the course is not without issues. Some portions of fairways need grading and or replacement of sod. Finding some tees (especially 10) challenging - way finding signage is needed.

2nd Round at Willowick
Course maintenance was much improved aince the first time I played it.
Pace of play picked up after the 3rd hole.

Hitters Not Golfers
This Course is in Decent Shape , But the Pace of Play is Unbearable for a Decent Golfer.Part of the Problem is they have No Course Marshall to Help & Police Speed of Play, Watched as the Group in Front of Us Drove Their Carts Inches from the Fringe of Putting Greens. This Course Needs Help or it Will Quickly Enter the "Dogtrack " Catagory.Hitters Play here Not Golfers !!!

Great layout and pace of play. Very rough conditions, though
A buddy and I played here for the first time. It was a slow day, so pace of play was excellent. We really liked the layout. Three course itself is in very rough shape. Fairways are overgrown to the point that we both lost multiple balls on straight drives onto the fairway. Greens looked terrible, but rolled well. The sand looked well kept. We'll definitely play here again. The value was good and the staff was nice. I wish the fairways were in better shape, but I still feel that the day was worth the price I paid
Lost potential
This course design is great and would be such a joy and unique challenge if not for the excessive overwatering leaving standing puddles in the middle of fairways, the enormous amounts of weeds and the complete lack of understanding by the grounds crew on how to mow and maintain fairways. This place is in desperate need of aerationand a good top dressing of sand this would help the soil actually absorb that water they are wasting money on. Most greens were diseased but still played well and were fun. The bunkers are in great shape. Best I’ve seen at any course since COVID started A+ on the bunkers. Could be a top rated course in my opinion if cared for like it should be and set up well.
You get what you pay for
Basic layout, nothing great. The fairways are horrible, many gofer holes and weeds. You get what you pay for here..

Beats working, no really nice..
Picked a good day to play with 3 other friends. The weather turned out to be great!!! We haven't played together for a long time, so this was a good starting place for us. Pace of play was a little slow, but not unbearable. Rough is a little long, so watch your balls close if there not headed for the fairways. Course seemed a little wet, the greens were ok....... I was 4 over on the front, but didn't convert any chances on the back.

There’s a first time for everything AND a last!
What a piece of garbage course! Ok, the greens were actually good but the fairways, aaahh, surprised the carts are even maintainable after the thrashing they take. My wife will have to go to see the chiropractor about her back after riding around that course. Do yourself a favour, bring a push-cart and walk.
