Willowick Golf Course
About
Opened in 1929, Willowick Golf Course in Santa Ana is Orange County's oldest public golf course. It is a challenging layout that has garnered a quite a following over the years. The course features wide fairways and large greens that offer ample room. There aren’t any water hazards a few strategically placed sand traps come into play and there are also mature trees lining the fairways. Golfers will get to practice a variety of different shots on this course. It is player-friendly enough for high-handicappers but there are still some challenges for low handicappers. The excellent condition of the greens and fairways are inviting no matter what your skill level. In addition to the golf course, Willowick also offers a grass driving range and three practice putting greens.

The WICK
I've played this course over 700 times over the last 35+ years. Obviously I liked it plus the club I belonged to had standing tee times every Saturday morning. That was a sweet deal. Roughly 10 years ago the condition of the course started to decline. The club moved on but me and my sons still play it occasionally. In the last few years it's gotten really bad. I understand that the property has sold and is slated for development. I get that they don't want to invest a lot of money into it but it's still a shame. The Wick is one of the oldest courses in SoCal.

Not in good shape
Pace of play was fine, but the course is in terrible shape. You hit the fairway and get rewarded with a lie in the dirt. The tee boxes were very chewed up, but the greens we're ok. Got there early to hit some balls before my round (8:20am start) and was told there were no balls for the range. When I made the turn, the range was full and there were plenty of balls. So, basically someone was lazy and didn't want to deal with it. Appreciate that. I was desperate because it's almost impossible to get a morning tee time in SoCal on the weekend right now, but I probably won't be back. There's nothing good about this course, including the homeless camp in the far corner at 16.

This needs a ton of renovations
Starter personnel have attitude. No food carts . 0nly saw 3 employees 1 starter 1 cart attendant 1 collecting range balls. No range balls when we arrived.
Fairways are in really bad condition. Greens are not maintained properly. This Course NEEDS a lot of repairs. So sorry to rate it this way but we had a bad experience.
