Willowick Golf Course
About
Opened in 1929, Willowick Golf Course in Santa Ana is Orange County's oldest public golf course. It is a challenging layout that has garnered a quite a following over the years. The course features wide fairways and large greens that offer ample room. There aren’t any water hazards a few strategically placed sand traps come into play and there are also mature trees lining the fairways. Golfers will get to practice a variety of different shots on this course. It is player-friendly enough for high-handicappers but there are still some challenges for low handicappers. The excellent condition of the greens and fairways are inviting no matter what your skill level. In addition to the golf course, Willowick also offers a grass driving range and three practice putting greens.

Thank you so much for your 4 star review. We value your input, and hope to see you back soon. Happy Golfing!
Golf cart died
My golf cart was dying around hole 6. On the turn after hole 9. We switched carts with the club house. This one also was running out of battery. By hole 12 we were losing massive power. There was an employee towing carts on the course (were they dead also?) I told him that we switched out carts and this one was dying as well. He said he would bring a new cart to us. Of course he never came back. Once we finished at 18, (which my brother and I were pushing to get it started) we saw that same employee by our cars, and yelled at him, and he just drove off.
New year day. You know it's a holiday, many people are going to play, and how do you not have enough carts charged. It definitely put a damper on the last 4/5 holes as we were push starting the cart.
The course on the other hand, was ok. Fairways were ok, Greens were real nice, running real fast. That with the hole placement made for a nice challenge. We did our best to make due, and not ruin the start of our new year, but that cart really left a bad taste in our mouth.
Thank you so much for your review and constructive feedback. The experience that you shared is unacceptable and we'd like to make it up to you. Please shoot us an email at info@willowickgolf.com. We are also happy to say that the new cart fleet is on it's way.
This course has great staff!
First time playing here and will definitely be back for future rounds! Course has great layout and staff is top notch.

Rough greens
Have played this course a lot before. Has usually been an average course, but affordable. This time, greens were horrible.

,Great value, friendly staff
I've been playing Willowick for ten years, and it seems like every year the condition of the course gets better and better. I never have a problem getting a tee time, and I'm always greeted with a smile. I've met quite a few other seniors there and that is always fun. The course layout is pretty flat and it's difficult to lose your ball. But don't let that fool you, there are some mean bunkers that really make things interesting. I'm a loyal customer and will continue to be. Great value for the price!
Thank you for posting a 3 star review and kind words. We appreciate your support and look forward to seeing you again soon.
The Wick
My buddies and I wanted an affordable course that we could play to get ready for our Sunday golf match.
For $24 we got a great round of golf and a hot dog !
The fairways are a little bit spotty in places and they are in need of a little gopher control but the greens were very nice and we actually like the layout of the course. The fairways are wide and fair.
The pace of play was very good we started the round at 12pm and finished in less than four hours..
We will be back.

Doesn't even reach Mediocrity...needs Improvement
I've played here before, and have never seen the course THIS bad. Granted, it's no Black Gold, but even David L Baker makes this course look like a barely Lawn mowed cow pasture with some poles sticking out of the ground with greens where little calves apparently walked across leaving their hoof impressions to alter the course of your ball on approach to the hole.
It has gone WAY downhill with no apparent pride of ownership to ensure that fairways and greens are at least minimally maintained, much less cared for by someone who respects the game and the course.
Pass on this one and spend a little more to make your way over to Dad Miller in Anaheim for a stark contrast.
Thank you so much for your review. We value your feedback, and use it to make improvements. We hope that you'll take another look in the future.

Thank you for your review. We appreciate your views and will continue working to improve conditions.
Rough around the edges, inconsistent but enjoyable.
Unfortunately it looks like the writing is on the wall for this course. Talked to a long time player at this course (family has played there since the 50's) and it is going through a rough time and may be gone soon. Would be a shame. We enjoyed it more than our private courses conditions. Although the fairways are not perfect and there is not a lot of definition to where the rough starts it was very playable tee to green. Greens were great except for a few that had some overly wet areas along the edges. Nice and smooth otherwise. Lots of check or zip back on approach shots. Worth the green fee they ask? Barely... But still enjoyable. Would take very little to bring the fairways and rough back around. Will be a real shame if it goes away.
Thank you for your review and feedback. We appreciate your views and will continue working to improve conditions. We have multiple improvements in process and planned ahead. looking forward to seeing you again soon.
Room for improvement
The fairways need grass and the place needs a liquor license ... check back later.
Great value
I played here about 40 times a year for the past 2 years, some of the cart path by the tee boxes are in. Dry poor conditions, most fairways are decent, the restroom in the middle of the course is often locked so don’t drink too much, most tee box are decent and the greens are very good, no water to me is a plus, I don’t usually lose balls here as you can play from the wrong fairways. I like the layout for variety, not a long course which is great for average players, 3 putting green and the one by the parking lot is very good to practice chipping. I drive one hour to get here , driving past the one in front of my house
Hot Deal should be $15, not $33
PRO: My brother and I played our round in 3 hours.
CON: The course conditions were not great yesterday. The golf cart we shared hiccuped every time you accelerated and struggled to go uphill on even the smallest of inclines. The GPS battery in the cart died before we completed 9 holes. The course layout was a little confusing. At every tee box the Tee Marker was either faced inward (you could not see the hold identification from the cart path) or missing altogether; couldn't tell if we were on the right tee box or not on several holes. Likely the first and last time we'll be playing here.

Excellent pace of play!
Greens were good and fairways were mostly good, but did have some unexpected wet areas especially in front of greens that was annoying. But overall good day of golf on a competitive course in excellent weather conditions.
