Located just 20 minutes from downtown in the Forest Hills section of Tampa, Babe Zaharias Golf Course meanders through a tree-lined residential neighborhood. The golf course measures a modest 6,020 yards, but should not be taken lightly. Golfer Reviews
Sunday Pin Locations
First time playing this course. Myself and brother-in-laws checked in and the gentleman behind the counter informed us that there a tournament yesterday so the pin locations are placed in very difficult positions. Boy, was he not kidding. Greens were moderately fast but not PGA level. Pin locations made 1-putts a rarity and 2-putts a real reward. Many pins on the edge of dramatic slopes. Really challenged our putting game. Fairways and tee boxes were well maintained. Drought in the area meant water hazards were more mud pits. Many Par 4’s, four Par 3’s and maybe two par 5’s. Out of bounds are roads and houses so be on your best behavior. We really enjoyed this course and will definitely be returning.
Nice muni
Fairways were in rough condition due to recent drought. Greens were in decent condition but much faster than anticipated. A few of the hole placements were on steep side slopes which is not ideal for the average golfer or the pace of play.
Not bad
First time playing the course and it was a good experience. The staff is definitely great and friendly. The greens were in good condition. Not the best course I’ve played , but it’s nice
I’ll be back
First time playing here and really enjoyed the round. The course was in very good condition considering the cold weather we have had. The staff was friendly and helpful. We had lunch after the round and the food was great and Donna was wonderful!
Good day out
We arrived early and the course was fairly quiet so we went out earlier than our booked tee tme. Course was suffering from the drought all over Florida and the fairways were bare in many parts. Greens were quite good considering the dryness and some interesting slopes onthe green.
The greens are
The greens are really good. The rest of the course is a goat.Track. the course is really not taken care of. Although we have not had much water in the state of florida, the fairways here are absolute disgrace. No grass. It might be time to close the course for a while. And the city spends some money on it. But it seems like two of the three city courses, which is rocky point. And the Babe are in rough shape and absolutely overpriced. Roger park is the best deal of all, and they seem to take care of it.
Fun course
My wife and I played 18 with a cart ,we had a foursome of older gentleman in front of us . And a foursome behind us . The pace of play was slower than I liked but it didn’t ruin my day we had a good day . The staff throughout the day was awesome. Me and my wife like the course and will be back.
Feel good course
The course was in decent shape for not having rain in a long while, a fairly easy course. Liked the design of the course. Great staff, good shape, scored well , had a great time !
Course
Greens patched up and hardly any grass on fairways.
Poor Babe looked alittle hagered
I usually don’t give out bad reviews but this course was horrible! Greens were brown, burnt, hard and crusty. The rest of the course wasn’t much better. Paid $60 should only be a $25 course. I know it’s winter but people have to give honest reviews . Any Tampa courses that says $60 is probably a$30 course. Plan on paying $90-100
For a good course in Tampa
A Local Gem
As usual, the staff was awesome - this includes pro shop, cafe and the starter. This course is short, but has a few very challenging holes. The greens are sloped and fast. So, keep that in mind in order to score low. I highly recommend.
FIVESOMES
We were behind a fivesome, when we tried to play through after 9, they approached us on the 10th tee and said , the group ahead of them was also a fivesome including the course director, and we should let them resume their position We played in just under 4 hrs but we have played this course in 3 hrs as a 3-some.
Poor golf etiquette, we teach our juniors to follow etiquette and these were not juniors
