About
Rocky Point Golf Course has one of the most interesting histories of any golf course in Florida. Originally opened in 1911 under the name f the Tampa Automobile Club, it was one of the first courses in the state. It closed in 1942 due to World War II. After being turned over to the city of Tampa for a mere $1, it reopened in 1954 as Rocky Point Golf Course. It is the closest golf course to Tampa International Airport, only a 15-minute drive away. The layout provides a fair challenge water hazards coming into play on 11 holes and sand bunkers strategically placed throughout. Rocky Point Golf Course's lakes are home to an abundance of wildlife and also serves as a bird sanctuary.

Conditions
Played yesterday fairways in good conditions, greens in good conditions, nice layout. Not my first time here and not my last !
Don't waste you money
Poor condition from tee to green. So many better courses in the area. For condition of the course way overpriced.
Surprise
Greens were fast and pin placements were diabolical. Good time! The club house and snack bar is very very nice.
Course conditions rough
Feels like every hole is the same as the last, and the course conditions were rough. Weeds everywhere, on fairways, greens, and fringe. Trash most places, and the course layout was tight, but really felt like you were playing the same layout for each hole. Expected more for the price
Windy
This course makes you place your shots correctly, so be prepared to lay up on a par 5. Par 3's are tricky with the wind and water, make sure to get a final distance number on the box.
Goat Track
This place simply sucks. Unchallenging layout with overgrown greens that putt like molasses. Fairways are riddled with weeds and the rough is all patchwork weeds and sand. Bunkers are seemingly filled with fill dirt. Walked off after 9 holes of my 18. I’ll never be back.

It was a bit beat up - not the worst course ever but wouldn’t play there again
