About
Rocky Point Golf Course has one of the most interesting histories of any golf course in Florida. Originally opened in 1911 under the name f the Tampa Automobile Club, it was one of the first courses in the state. It closed in 1942 due to World War II. After being turned over to the city of Tampa for a mere $1, it reopened in 1954 as Rocky Point Golf Course. It is the closest golf course to Tampa International Airport, only a 15-minute drive away. The layout provides a fair challenge water hazards coming into play on 11 holes and sand bunkers strategically placed throughout. Rocky Point Golf Course's lakes are home to an abundance of wildlife and also serves as a bird sanctuary.

Challenging short course
Good value, great for honing your short game in a relaxed atmosphere
Nice Course
Enjoyed the friendly pro staff and bartender. Extremely nice and accommodating. The starter was rude and not friendly at all. Course was nice. Not great but nice. Felt like I received good value for my money. I’d go back.
Goat track
Not remotely worth the money. Pay a little more to play better courses. You can hit it into the fairway and there is a good shot you are playing on dirt. Greens are very bumpy.
Decent Course, close to the airport and a great price
We played because we had family in Tampa that had to catch a flight. 8 minutes from the airport. The course was in decent shape, the greens were decent fairways and tee boxes were a little distressed. It’s a pretty good course lay out but if you need to get to the airport it’s perfect. I would recommend this course for the price!
This place is the WORST
I will never play here again the worst course in Florida. Please save your money and go elsewhere! I have been going here off and on for 15 years it NEVER gets any better!
I paid 45 bucks for a total goat ranch NOTHING good to say even the staff was angry and total jerks. The starter lady is ex-military and thinks she can boss us around. I played with 3 good dudes so it made it bearable but please take my advice and DONT GO HERE! No ball washers terrible turf bad greens no sand in the traps. The WORST
Neat Playable Layout
The course was an enjoyable very Playable tract.The greens were in great condition, the fairways thin as expected this time of year.
Nice Friendly People
Check in pro shop friendly and welcoming. Starter pleasant friendly & helpful., saw Ranger out on course a lot but pace of play was slow. Course was not in good condition. Lot of bare spots and sparse grass.. Number of fun challenging holes.
Good Price, Great Location
With a 4 PM flight out of Tampa, I was looking for a golf course I could play in the morning, yet have plenty of time to get to the airport, return my rental car, and get comfortable before my flight. Rocky Point Golf Course fit the bill perfectly. The course is in mediocre condition (tee boxes and greens need love), the layout is average, with too many “really short” par 3 holes, but for a Thursday morning, pace of play was excellent. We completed our round of golf in 3 hours and 48 minutes. As a foursome. That said, I could see where the course could get bogged down on a busy day. Overall, for $60 green fee, Rocky Point is good value for the Tampa area (where many courses are way overpriced). I highly recommend the course to somebody looking for a round a golf before their flight out of Tampa International Airport.
