Rocky Point Golf Course

About
Rocky Point Golf Course has one of the most interesting histories of any golf course in Florida. Originally opened in 1911 under the name f the Tampa Automobile Club, it was one of the first courses in the state. It closed in 1942 due to World War II. After being turned over to the city of Tampa for a mere $1, it reopened in 1954 as Rocky Point Golf Course. It is the closest golf course to Tampa International Airport, only a 15-minute drive away. The layout provides a fair challenge water hazards coming into play on 11 holes and sand bunkers strategically placed throughout. Rocky Point Golf Course's lakes are home to an abundance of wildlife and also serves as a bird sanctuary.

All good but the tee boxes and rough
Greens and fairways were really good. The rough is my own fault but even there it would be helpful to have more grass. Tee boxes were more dirt than grass. That was the only disappointment. We had to wait for most tee shots but still played in just over 4 hours. Good time overall.
Solid course, solid price
Played today, course was nice. No real complaints for the price. Fast greens.
Good for Beginners
Wider course, greens good, but the rest of the grass is struggling (during a drought). Great place to learn for the price.
Pretty boring course
This was a pretty boring course almost every hole was pretty straightforward with a few dog legs little bit of water. I don’t know why it’s called “Rocky Point” as it is a very flat course. Visually nothing all that pleasant to look at like I said pretty flat course. It was very dry, greens were in pretty bad shape and it was very expensive for the shape that it was in. I will not be going back there to play again
Good course but not for price
The fairways were hard and full of weeds and dirt. The greens were fast and pretty true if they weren’t being repaired in areas. Overall ok but not for the price.
All in all, can't complain
Greens were in vary good shape. My only complaint is the tee boxes. Very little grass and bumpy, not flat. If they get the tee boxes up to snuff this pkace is golden.
Great Value
I think this course is a really good value. It was easy to get on at last minute, the fairways were green and for the most part full of grass. The greens were actually really fast for being a public course. The tee boxes were in bad shape but I guess you can't have everything for this price and if something is not good, I'd rather it be the tee box than the greens or fairways.
When I come back to Tampa, I will definitely play again.
Pretty Good
nice shape smooth greens good layout ive played it for years but haven't been back in about 2 or so. The greens are very fast all in all a good day and perfect weather in Florida
It's Normal Florida Golf
It's a typical Florida course (Fairways have lots of sandy and bare patches. Greens are slower than most northern US courses). The challenge is over coming the course conditions to shoot a low score.
