Rocky Point Golf Course

About
Rocky Point Golf Course has one of the most interesting histories of any golf course in Florida. Originally opened in 1911 under the name f the Tampa Automobile Club, it was one of the first courses in the state. It closed in 1942 due to World War II. After being turned over to the city of Tampa for a mere $1, it reopened in 1954 as Rocky Point Golf Course. It is the closest golf course to Tampa International Airport, only a 15-minute drive away. The layout provides a fair challenge water hazards coming into play on 11 holes and sand bunkers strategically placed throughout. Rocky Point Golf Course's lakes are home to an abundance of wildlife and also serves as a bird sanctuary.

Starter had a group if 5 together
Starter messed up Marshall complained why are there 5 of us together
Not a good day.
Very unfair. Course was awful while greens were good.
But it was after a night of heavy rain so spots everywhere.
Muni with benefits!
Overall course just OK!
Fairways just OK
Greens a little soft and slow and do I need to said FIX YOUR BALL MARKS!
Sand traps have no sand and hard as concrete!
Best thing about the course is pace of play because of 10 minute tee times and a fair price!
Looking for just a OK course with a good pace of play and good rangers play there!
Decent…Not great
We arrived to multiple groups on the first tee and were informed by the pro shop/starter that 4 groups were going out ahead of us due to a booking problem. We were offered the choice to play the back 9 first and we accepted.
Not a wise choice it turned out as when we made the turn there was a tournament starting…
Needless to say we requested our money back but were offered to start our second nine on number 3 then play 1 and 2 at the end.
Not a great round unfortunately
So that being said it was a decent course but not great.
Tampa Golf
I moved to Tampa from the east coast around Ft Lauderdale. I was shocked to find out the limited amount of public golf course near downtown and the fact that there are long waits for private clubs which are extremely expensive for someone that is here maximum half of the year. The municipal course was a good value but obviously more monies need to be put back into the course. It does have potential.
have played there many wish the fairways were in better condition times,
Nice Public Course
This is a pretty good public course that is both challenging and fair. The greens were kept in good condition, as were the bunkers. The front 9 played a bit slow, but we moved along on the back 9. Clubhouse staff and pro shop staff were friendly.
Rocky Point
The fairways are on good shape and greens rolled
nicely
Time was around 4 hours witch is perfect
Would definitely play again
Same Old
This course is very busy all of the time many 5-6 hour rounds. Today was cold but still very slow pace. Rocky Point is an okay layout its a city-run course. Conditions are average the putting greens are being worked on in a lot of places so patchy.
I didn't enjoy the round because of terrible slow play its really a curse and hard to deal with having to focus again on all golf shots
