Kokopelli Golf Course
About
Located a short distance from Sky Harbor Airport in Phoenix and Arizona State University, Kokopelli Golf Course is a championship length course that offers many interesting challenges. The rolling terrain creates sloping greens and undulating fairways. A majority of the teeboxes and greens are elevated as well. The course also has large multiple island tees and water hazards in the form of meandering lakes that come into play on several holes. The signature hole of Kokopelli Golf Course is the par-5 18th hole. The dramatic finishing hole calls for a shot off an elevated too followed by an approach shot past water to an elevated green.

Is this round over yet?! Photo submitted by u000001335906 on 01/03/2015
Had fun - they’re making improvements
Course definitely needs a lot of love. You can tell the staff is motivated to make changes and wants people to have a good time. Probably will go again
Horrible condition
I’ve not played this course in about 10 years. Back then, it was well maintained and, overall, a decent track. My experience there today was horrible. The fairways are mostly dirt, there is standing water all over the course that smells, mosquitoes are out of control, and the traps are hard as a rock with no sand. One hole was shut down for repair, and there were three golf carts stranded in mud in the fairway. The only plus was I finished in under 3 hours. Is this place going out of business? If not, it should. I clearly missed the memo. This place needs so much work. This is a PSA—don’t waste your time on this course at present.
Not Great
The course is in really poor conditions. There's huge patches of no grass, or overgrown grass, and dead patches. The cost of the course does not equate to the quality of the course. That being said the greens were well maintained and rolled true for the most part, and the club house looks awesome with newly renovated interior with comfortable seating and good food options,
Needs serious renovation
I’ve played kokopelli for many years and the quality has gotten worse every year. It’s now to the point where I’d rather play somewhere else. The range was closed due to serious flooding, the beverage cart wasn’t even out because they didn’t have enough business. Most of the course has significant drainage problems so they get stagnant water pooling all over the course including the cart path. The bunkers are abandoned, most of them have moss and plants growing in them and that’s the ones that aren’t under water. One of the holes is closed due to renovations so you don’t even get to play 18 and the rest of the holes have huge bare spots and weed ridden fairways. It’s very disappointing that the course has fallen off this much, but if ownership doesn’t put serious money into fixing it I probably won’t play here anymore
Poor conditions!
Years ago, this golf course was a delight to play but now, it’s not worth the $30 fee! Very sad playing conditions! The fairways are in terrible conditions!
The greens are in average conditions’
I won’t go back!
Needs to be closed down.
Mud, mosquitoes, dirt, course is flipped. Golf carts stuck in the mud Hole 2 closed down not allowed to play. This is now the worst course in Arizona.
Horrible course
What a joke of a course. The condition of the course were horrendous. The bunkers are either hard as concrete or there are actual weeds/grass growing in them. The fairways are overgrown so much that at times it was difficult to find your ball. If you hit it in the rough you’ll never find your ball. Your best bet is to hit your ball into the desert as that is where you will have your best chance of finding it. I was so disappointed with this course that I called it a day after 9 holes. I will never play this course again.
Koko needs lots of TLC
Not enough grass on the holes on the front 9
Lots of mud from over watering
Back 9 was better
None of the sand traps had sand weeds growing in them very unkept
Only saving grace greens were very good if not excellent on some holes
Sad state of affairs
Has gone sadly downhill. Needs a lot of work to bring it back.
Someone PLEASE HELP this course!
Just Wow! SHAME ON ME! Shame on me for giving Kokopelli another shot. 🤦♂️ My wife likes to play with me and we’ve played all the easier tracks every week and thought “let’s give it one more shot since we haven’t played there in 9 months (even though we promised never again). If they weren’t doing a full remodel on their driving range I would swear they are just about ready to shut it down. The course was literally impossible to play. We were the only ones on the course.
Very disappointing for a course that has great potential.
Why is this course still open ?
It is amazing how this course is still open, due to the fact that after anybody plays this course one time they will never ever play it or recommend it to anyone again,
It would seem after being open for so long and reading reviews that are so horrific there still must be first time golfers and a steady stream of first-time golfers who attempt to think this is going to be an actual golf course,
Hopefully you are reading this review before thinking about playing this course believe me and all the other reviews it is definitely not worth the time and or your money
Don't waste your money!
This course is in terrible condition. I was extremely disappointed in the condition of the course for that price. One hole was completely closed, the rest were mostly dirt, swamp, or the muddy in between.
