Kokopelli Golf Course
About
Located a short distance from Sky Harbor Airport in Phoenix and Arizona State University, Kokopelli Golf Course is a championship length course that offers many interesting challenges. The rolling terrain creates sloping greens and undulating fairways. A majority of the teeboxes and greens are elevated as well. The course also has large multiple island tees and water hazards in the form of meandering lakes that come into play on several holes. The signature hole of Kokopelli Golf Course is the par-5 18th hole. The dramatic finishing hole calls for a shot off an elevated too followed by an approach shot past water to an elevated green.

Challenging but average
This course was fun although there were many areas of bare dirt and mud. Too many in my opinion if you are going to charge too-end fees. Had a good time, met some good people but shot like crap. Such is golf, right?
Course conditions
This course has gone downhill over the years. There was more weeds in the sand traps than sand. 18 was the only hole with sand in the sand traps. Water on water holes was way below an average level and filled with dead plants. Most rough aside from the holes that you can see from a busy streen were dirt. No grass, no dead grass, just dirt.
You should not charge a golfer full price for a golf course that is under repair several holes had no sand in the bunkers and ground and repair was everywhere I will not be back
Kokopelli night mare
This course was in pathetic condition , I would not suggest playing without substantial alcohol. I have no idea what they spend there revenue on. I would not recommend this course to anyone.
Bunkers were a disgrace. Either fix them or turn them into grass. Bunkers were so bad I will not play again regardless of price. To bad as this could be a very good golf course.
Burn your money
As I said burn your money, you will enjoy it more than a round of the Ko,
Course condition fair
It appears they are working on the sand traps. Greens were in good condition. It would be a major improvement if they would plant some grass in the bare dirt areas!
Schrom1
Course was good value. The only real deterrent was that the bunkers were not all that great. As few had no sand at all
Mediocre
To start, not enough carts and had to wait for them to come in; bunkers were horrible. Weeds growing in them and no sand. Fairways were thin and a lot of dirt on the sides. $65 this time of year for the area I guess is a good price, but I won’t return to play this one again
DONT BELIEVE ALL THE REVIEWS
honestly the course isn’t that bad, ppl r saying a lot of dirt, bc they didn’t hit the fairway. sure the bunkers r bad but that’s about it. greens were fine, nothing to complain about. i swear all these 1 stars are just old ppl that need to head back to idaho! guys it’s not a troon course but it’s not horrible!
A lot of dirt
I rated this 3 stars because of all of the dirt. The cart was filthy even before I used it. And to make matters worse it was windy and by time my round was done my light blue jacket was filthy. At this course if you can't keep your ball on the fairway you're in trouble because you're hitting your next shot from the desert floor and it's like hitting off of cement. I actually marked up my pitching wedge doing so. Also, the range is not in good shape. The grass tees were mostly dirt and no markers on the range to help determine distance. On the positive side the tee boxes and fairways were in good condition and the course is well marked. The staff was excellent especially the starter Charlie. Overall I had to rate this 3 stars. Not sure that I can recommend it in its current condition.
KOKOPELLI = LAME!!!
I have played Kokopelli probably 15 times over the last 10 years. But About three years ago, I took my uncle and father to play there. Everything was looking good as we were hitting balls off of the mats at the range. Well their mats do not accept tees, so when I was ready to hit my driver, I stepped 2 feet ahead of the mat, to tee up a few balls to hit my driver. Obviously not damaging any grass with a driver. Well, right when I was about ready to hit my first driver, the guy in the pro shop decided to get on the loudspeaker and scold me! I was about ready to go get my money back at that point, but my dad and uncle wanted to play. So we did play, and we had a pretty good time. I did say to myself I would never play here again. But yesterday, I was looking for somewhere to play to take my mother and sister to play. The only available decent tee time was at Kokopelli on golf now. So I decided why not, and booked it. $73 each. Got there to hit balls early, and fortunately, they weren’t using their lame mats this time. But the range was completely dirt, and had no aiming yardages or flags! But They did have a little sign on the Range telling us how far each flag was! Lol! But no flags! Plus the range balls were probably 5 to 6 years old….most with no more dimples!! Ha Ha! . Also just so you know, as you drive down Guadalupe, the course looks pretty nice. But don’t let that fool you, as that’s probably the only few holes that they put water on. It was very difficult to find a decent lie, because there was literally Hardly any grass even on the fairways! It was literally a dirt track! The only good thing about that place were the putting greens. They were actually pretty nice. But, to screw that up, literally 16 out of the 18 holes, the pins were set ……and I’m not exaggerating, 5 to 6 feet, not yards, off the edge of the greens! We couldn’t believe it. People are out there to enjoy themselves! It’s not the US open! Also, I forgot to mention that when I arrived an hour before our tee time, I got to the pro shop, and the one guy that was working there was on the telephone explaining to someone about a 3:15 PM tee time and the cost. I figured that would take about three minutes, but 12 minutes later after he sold the tee time and took the guys credit card numbers two times, I was finally able to check in and buy some range balls. Unbelievable. After nine holes, my mother wanted some chips from the snack shop, but they only had two bags of Sun chips. Lol! Not the end of the world, but go to Costco and stock your shelf! Finally when the round was over, and we were completely disappointed, My sister went to use the women’s restroom, and the toilet wouldn’t flush! So in conclusion, do not waste your money people! You’d have better luck going to play the dirt track in Arizona city for $40! No joke! Guarantee you I will never play Kokopelli again and will tell all of my friends. Its Really too bad, as it’s a cool challenging layout. Over & out….
Needsgrass
The course needs grass on every hole. Good golf shots go astray because the course is mainly hardpan. Sand traps lack sand and maintenance. This course is not worth the money they charge for 18 holes. It is no longer on our list of courses to play.
It was OK
Fairways were OK, but anything off the fairways on the back nine was awful. Many sand bunkers on back were dried mud with weeds.
