About
Located a short distance from Sky Harbor Airport in Phoenix and Arizona State University, Kokopelli Golf Course is a championship length course that offers many interesting challenges. The rolling terrain creates sloping greens and undulating fairways. A majority of the teeboxes and greens are elevated as well. The course also has large multiple island tees and water hazards in the form of meandering lakes that come into play on several holes. The signature hole of Kokopelli Golf Course is the par-5 18th hole. The dramatic finishing hole calls for a shot off an elevated too followed by an approach shot past water to an elevated green.

Golfer Reviews
Hot day in the sun , but inexpensive golf
Staff were pleasant and pro shop was well organized.
Course conditions were accent considering it was over 100.
Even the geese had a hard time keeping cool on the course.
3rd Time Playing
The course layout was great, offered its own unique challenge with the hills and long fairways. Pace of play was a big issue, didn’t see any rangers going around to enforce it. At least 3 times in the 18 holes, we had 6 carts at the tee box.
It surprises me every time I’ve played here but there is a real mosquito problem with a lot of small standing bodies of water.
Thanks for your feedback, mmoore6! We're thrilled you enjoyed the unique challenges of our course! We're sorry to hear about the pace of play and the uninvited mosquito guests. Your insights help us improve, and we appreciate you sharing your experience!
Review
This course is in terrible condition. Track is fun but the greens are atrocious.
Thanks for your feedback! We’re working on getting our greens into shape—think of it as a golf course glow-up. Stay tuned for some major improvements. In the meantime, we appreciate your honesty and hope you’ll give us another swing in the future!
HA HA HA HA !!!
It amazes me this course has had horrible reviews for the last 3 years and people still play and then they complain about it obviously after playing this course one time you will read the other reviews on courses before you play any of them it's amazing after 3 years why and how this course is still up and running......
Thanks for your feedback! It honestly amazes us people's expectations with affordable golf. Kokopelli is in a transition stage, and our pricing reflects that. So sorry it wasn't up to your expectations.
Irrigation problems
Areas either too wet or too dry. About half the holes cart path only.
Hi swishera,
Thanks for noticing our cutting-edge strategy — we like to keep parts of the course dry enough to roll fast and others damp enough to practice splash shots. It’s not chaos… it’s intentional turf artistry. 🎨⛳️
In all seriousness, our grounds crew works hard to balance playability with Mother Nature’s moods (even when she’s not participating). But if we ever figure out how to customize every square foot to everyone’s liking, we’ll be sure to patent it.!
Horrible condition
They have holes closed and don't tell you when booking. Greens are extremely inconsistent, rough and seems like they were aerated but not recovered. Mud, dirt, and clover weeds throughout the fairways. No distance markers throughout the course. For what golf prices used to be before courses started fully taking advantage of COVID prices. This is sub par. Crazy they are charging what they are for the condition it's in.
Thanks for the feedback! We’re currently working a few holes and aerating the fairways was a part of the process of bringing the grass back. In regard to the distance marker, it is something is being worked on with the maintenance team. We hope to see you again one day down the road.
Gawgeous Golf
I in joy this course for several reasons. It’s just minutes away from my condo. Has a great layout. The staff is always friendly and it’s always at a good price.
Thanks for the feedback, LADIVELVETSWING! We’re thrilled you enjoy the course, proximity, and our friendly staff. We aim for a hole-in-one experience, not just par, so let us know what we can do to bump that rating up! Just kidding (kind of). Your input helps us improve, so keep swinging and we’ll keep working on the course!
Kokopelli is still something to avoid
I go out and play this every year or so to see if it's still a mess. The answer in short - yes. Sadly they made a course that was very decent 30 years ago and made it into a goat track.
Thanks for your feedback, cmount3665! We appreciate your dedication to checking in. We're working hard to bring it back to its former glory, so maybe next year you'll find a golf course instead of a goat track. Fingers crossed!
U000004978185, we appreciate you taking the time to rate us. However, a rating without any context makes it challenging for us to understand your experience and improve. Your input is important to us and helps us enhance our services for everyone.
Old friend
This was the first golf course I played in the Phoenix area some 40 years ago. Probably had not played in the last 25 years. Very good layout with lots of moguls and some unique features. The playing areas, greens, fairways and tee boxes are in very good shape. Desert and areas outside the rough were in bad condition. On course amenities were not real great. Fun course with a very friendly pro shop attendant that was outstanding. I really enjoyed and had a very good round.
GolfWarsII, thanks for sharing your experience! We're glad you enjoyed the layout and had a great round. We're continuously working to improve all aspects of our course, and your insights help us focus our efforts. We appreciate your support and hope to see you back on the course soon for another round!
Great little course!
First time playing and it was pretty challenging. I will definitely be back!
Thanks for the great feedback! We're glad to hear you found it challenging and enjoyed your first experience. We strive to create engaging and rewarding challenges for all our visitors. Looking forward to seeing you back for another round soon!
Needs improvement
It was clear that they need to work on the course conditions. They've lost a ton of grass which leaves bare dirt. The bare dirt doesn't absorb water, so you have puddles all over the course. Some of the "lakes" have no water. In their defense, management was out on the course and to me it was obvious that they were identifying the problems and working on improvements. Many holes had no yardage markers at all. Multiple times I drove the ball right in the middle of the fairway and had to guess what I had left to the green. Hard to enjoy your round that way. No ball washers on the course, so make sure you wet a towel. It could be a nice track if they get things fixed, but I'll wait for that to happen before I play there again regardless of the price.
Hi u314164738759, we appreciate your feedback and understand your frustrations regarding the course conditions and amenities. As you saw, the team is addressing these issues head on and not shying away from the problems that we currently have. Kokopelli is dedicated to make the course the best we can and will keep working on it. Your insights on the yardage markers is something the team has discussed and will be brought up with the Maintenace team here shortly. Thank you for your insights and again, you concerns will be addressed with the team. We hope to see you again sometime soon!
Thanks, pokester11! We're thrilled to hear you had a great experience, even in the sweltering heat! If the geese are struggling, we must be doing something right! Our team is dedicated to keeping everything in tip-top shape, so your kind words mean a lot. Next time, we'll make sure to have a fan ready for those feathered friends!
