About
The golf course at the Western Skies Golf Club has a traditional layout with many different challenges and beautiful views. Surrounded by picturesque mountains and valleys, the course offers a taste of the countryside, which is further enhanced by the many aged Mesquite and Pinon trees sprinkled throughout. It features tree-lined fairways with generous landing areas and tricky water hazards. Two notable holes are the 4th and 7th holes, both par 3s. Although it is a modest 186 yards, the 4th hole requires a carry over water to a heavily bunkered green. Western Skies Golf Club's 18th hole is a drivable par four with water along the right side, making this an exciting finishing hole.

Good course for the price
Course was in good condition, greens included. Pace of play was slow, but it had just rained the day before so it was carts on cart path only. Staff was helpful and friendly. Driving Range in ok shape. Overall a good value for the money.

Western Skies GC is in good shape
Enjoyed a pleasant round in just under 4 hours. The driving range grass was very poor. Tee boxes were in fairly good condition; fairways were a bit sparse in places; rough was dormant Bermuda grass or dirt, sand traps were full (though some were wet), with greens being smooth and running true. Pace was great for the front 9, with the back 9 slowed by the group ahead, who was lagging behind the group in front of them by upwards of a hole (no ranger/marshal was seen). Value was good.
Running out of water?
Pretty rough shape especially this time of year. Greens were dry and very hard, fairways were marginal. If they are this condition now, I can only imagine what it will be like as we near summer.
Pretty good for the price
Courses you can play for under $100 around here at this time of year are often pretty bad. Against that group of choices, this is pretty nice. The fairways and greens were in good shape. Some of the tee boxes were a little uneven. Decent bunkers. GPS on the carts. The only downside is it's not that interesting of a layout. I would definitely play it again when looking for a round under $100.
