Western Skies Golf Club
About
The golf course at the Western Skies Golf Club has a traditional layout with many different challenges and beautiful views. Surrounded by picturesque mountains and valleys, the course offers a taste of the countryside, which is further enhanced by the many aged Mesquite and Pinon trees sprinkled throughout. It features tree-lined fairways with generous landing areas and tricky water hazards. Two notable holes are the 4th and 7th holes, both par 3s. Although it is a modest 186 yards, the 4th hole requires a carry over water to a heavily bunkered green. Western Skies Golf Club's 18th hole is a drivable par four with water along the right side, making this an exciting finishing hole.

Good shape, fair price.
Western Skies is a decent course that I have played over the years. It had a spell of a few years where it dropped into a bit of a funk (dry, poor fairways etc.), but it has come back nicely in the past 4 or 5 years. This isn't some plush Scottsdale resort, but it is a nice little track that has some fun holes. Course was in good shape, faiways, greens and teeboxes were good. The rough was cut close and it was dry, so it was easy to play from too. Staff has always been friendly and upbeat. No stuffiness, just play and have fun!
Small customer service problems
It would be nice to have bag boys greet you as you pull up and take your clubs to a cart, as you have to walk a distance from the parking lot to the carts.
Also we saw a beverage cart only twice and then she never checked with us to see if we wanted anything, she just kept on driving. We certainly would have liked to purchase something. Other than that the course was in good shape and challenging and we would definitely play again.
Western Skies good value in the East Valley
Beautiful weather, course in good shape. Tee boxes could use some work.
Great for the money
Hard to find anything decent for under $100 around here this time of year, but this place was very nice. The fairways and greens were all in good shape. Pace of play was good. It’s not a very memorable or challenging course, though.
Nice Course
The course is in great shape, although some of the tea boxes are getting a little rough- not surprisi g with the volume of golfers. Everyone of the staff are friendly and helpful. The pace of play was great...finished 18 in 3 1/2 hrs!
HS Reunion
The course was pretty much the same as last year. Greens rolled good with average speed.
Great condition
Haven’t played for a couple of years. Course is in best condition I can remember it ever being in. Teed off at noon. 3 1/2 hours awesome pace.
Western Skies
Course was in good shape...pace of play was good...staff was friendly...
In Great Shape
Course was in fine shape esp the greens. Receptive, true, best I have ever seen in several years. No marshal on the course to hustle the slow Groupon front of us along and the restaurant didn’t answer their phone so that slowed us down at the turn. Otherwise, quite a fun day!
Best Value in the Valley
A morning tee time in spring at any full length par 72 18 hole course in the valley is probably ~$130 or more on average - so getting on here at 8:30 AM for 100 dollars is already a huge win. The course is simple straighforward, with out and backs for each 9 between endless suburban track homes, just like 70% of the golf courses here. Not really any grass in the rough and bare dirt up to the home fences, but fairways were perfect, and the greens were every bit as good as any you'd find on a troon managed course. The course is pretty easy, plenty or room to the right side if you tend slice the driver as a right hander. (I do.) You just can't beat this course for the valve in the prime season. If I lived a little closer I'd play it every weekend.
Western Skies
I am a bogey golfer. The course is very forgiving with decent fairways and fairly easy approaches. The greens roll fairly true and are mostly straight. In comparison to other courses I have golfed in the area it is a decent value. The club house staff was friendly and helpful. The only drawback was the beverage cart driver that just kept going even after we waved to them and yelled for them to stop.
Good Value for the Price
Although not as scenic as other Valley courses, Western is in very good shape and a lot of fun to play. The greens were outstanding. The pace of play was great.
Nice course for the everyday golfer
Really liked the course! Layout is forgiving with nicely kept sand bunkers. Fairway in good condition. Greens very nice and semi-fast. All in all a very good value. We started right on time and finished in four hours with only a. Little waiting on the back nine. Price is higher than it used to be, but so are the prices anywhere in the valley these days. Staff were super nice too. Will definitely be back.
