About
The golf course at the Western Skies Golf Club has a traditional layout with many different challenges and beautiful views. Surrounded by picturesque mountains and valleys, the course offers a taste of the countryside, which is further enhanced by the many aged Mesquite and Pinon trees sprinkled throughout. It features tree-lined fairways with generous landing areas and tricky water hazards. Two notable holes are the 4th and 7th holes, both par 3s. Although it is a modest 186 yards, the 4th hole requires a carry over water to a heavily bunkered green. Western Skies Golf Club's 18th hole is a drivable par four with water along the right side, making this an exciting finishing hole.

Pleasant day, got matched with a couple nice guys, little slower getting around today about 4.5 hours. Grass as in most valley courses could use some sunny warmer weather to help growth fill in and help the seed sprout. Greens need help from the golfing public. Come on guys, FIX YOUR BALL MARKS. I could have spent fifteen minutes on every green repairing holes.
Course shape
I have been playing Western Skies since I moved to Az in 1988. It used to be plush and gorgeous . Now not so much! Now where there is supposed to be grass there is no grass. That wouldn’t be so bad if the fairways were overseeded with a little more grass. Plus the greens hadn’t been mowed in who knows how long. If I was the head golf pro and the golf course superintendent I wouldn’t be too happy. It’s not like it used to be! It’s gone from a 10 to a 5.
Greens in bad shape
It is unfortunate that the greens are in such bad condition. Due to others not correctly or even at all repairing their ball marks the greens are challenging enough. They are super long and slow as well, seems like they don't keep it very short like most courses.
Career Best Round
Shot 74, lowest round ever. Course is really flat, pretty playable, not much trouble. Will come back and see if this score can be beaten! I got nervous looking at card and needlessly bogies 16/17

Good not great
Overall solid value for being one of the cheaper courses in Phoenix right now. Solid pace. No complaints.

Great course for the price
I joined up with three others had a great day got a great deal in golf now. Greens were nice fairly quick tees and fairways were also in good condition. Well worth playing I'll be back to try it out again for sure.
