Golf Club of Estrella is the very first golf course on a daily-fee basis to be designed by Jack Nicklaus II in Phoenix, where it makes its home in the master-planned community Estrella, and offers 18 holes of par-72 championship golf over 7,102 unique yards. The many tests of the golf course will impress every level of golfer - though a choice of tee sets ensures no one will get in over his or her head. Desert and wash spaces require golfers to vary their shots while they take in vistas from the fairways shaped to the contour of the land and framed in the Sierra Estrella Mountains.

A round of golf at the Golf Club Estrella kicks off on Morning Star, a par 4 that measures 359 yards from the black tees. If you stick to the black tees, you'll need to conserve your energy for The Arroyo, the 16th hole, a par 5 that measures 605 yards. After that, Evening Star, the 18th hole, will be a relative breeze, at par 4 and just 437 yards from the black teees.

Once the round of golf at the Golf Club of Estrella is over, head back to the Player's Grill Restaurant for American pub fare and Southwestern snacks.

Poor consideration to players

The washrooms were closed before 5 on hole 15. Once we got to the Clubhouse all facilities were also closed. Very disappointing considering this is a Troon course. Had voiced my concern about this a few games ago, unfortunately nothing has changed. It would be so easy to send someone around and first close the washroom after everyone is past the 15 hole. After all, we are paying for you to have your job…

Nice course

Beautiful sprawling course in the Estrella mountains. Complimentary driving range with tee time, carts had club cleaners and came with tees and ice in coolers. Overall wonderful time would play again!

It's a great course. Layout is easy enough to figure out and play. Greens are in great shape and easy enough to read. Will definitely play again.

Real nice layout and course was in good shape. Could have a little better markings placed for next hole location closer to finished up holes.

Excellent.

Unfortunately didn’t get to finish course due to slow play ahead of our group.

Nice course

Greens rolled well, fairways in good shape, tee boxes in great shape. The only knock on this course would be the bunkers (hard pan). Good thing I grew up playing in west Texas because most of the courses here have hard pan bunkers!

Great layout and views

Visually fun and challenging course—lots to look at, and beautiful views especially the last few holes. Variety of hole types. Not too much hidden, so while course knowledge is always helpful it can be enjoyable the first time (it was for us). Would have expected a little better conditions…some greens were in rough shape, and some bunkers were dirt as much as sand.

Like the course very much. Two items need attention: 1) the greens were very slow 2) sand was almost non existent in green side traps.

Bunkers and Greens Need Work

I love playing this track, but was very disappointed in the bunkers and greens. The bunkers are obviously not maintained and are full of stones and rocks. The greens could use some work - about 5 greens had a large patch of sand where the grass had died and old holes were not replaced well. The layout is great and the fairways were in fantastic shape. I’ll continue to return to Estrella, but definitely think the $140 green fee is overpriced for the current condition of the golf course

Disappointed

I have been coming to the valley for 10 years and have looked forward to playing Estrella the greens are always smooth and fast and bunkers always a challenge. But this year was a disappointment. The fairways were excellent condition, the greens a little bumpy but still ok however I was in 3 bunkers and everyone had almost no sand in the bottom. Got a deal to play but with bunkers in this shape not worth the price unless it’s a great deal. The prices have doubled thru covid and conditions deteriorated not good.

Course condition does not match price

The bunkers and green are in rough condition, but the fairways are in good shape. Approx 5 greens had a large patch of sand on them and the bunkers are full of stones and are not well kept. Certainly not worth the $140 we paid to play here. I like this course, but I’d much rather spend my money elsewhere unless they make a better effort in taking care of the course.

Needs some TLC

Played this course many times and have to say that the conditions for a troon course are slipping. Sand traps are concrete and the greens are in rough shape even for this time of year. Needs to be brought back to better conditions for the money they are asking

Worth it

Great views and nice layout.

We played later in the day, course was in great condition. Only negative would be that some of the greens were slow and had a lot of pitch marks, again, we were a late tee time.

Would definitely recommend and play again.

Great vistas on a challenging course

The course starts out fairly easy but within a few holes, it snaps that idea out of your head. The speed of the greens are more challenging to read because of the grain. Their are some really wonderful, difficult holes. It was well worth the play.
