About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business in 2019.
The Club West Golf Club offers 18 holes on a Brian Whitcomb-designed golf course that was originally built in 1993 and measures 7,142 yards from the championship tees on a par-72 golf course.
Club West Golf Club claims the 17th as its signature hole. It features double-greens, tees elevated 100 feet above the course and vistas of South Mountain and of the Estrella Mountain Range; players ought to pick the green they desire and then check the yardage. If the wind isn't blowing you back, pick one less club than usual, aim right and swing smoothly.
After the round, head over to the Club West Golf Club's clubhouse, which is the gorgeous home of the Lakeside Grille, which serves breakfast and lunch inside the stunning dining room or on a spacious patio featuring a fireplace and lake view.

Club West
Love this course especially the elevated greens. The view alone is worth the price of a round.
Unsightly trash
This course has some really great scenery from some of the tee boxes, always enjoy playing here. There are a lot plastic water bottles and beer cans in the desert and wash areas.
Get to know this course
First time here with my bud. Great deal on GN. Greeted by friendly staff in and out. Course was in good shape... though my game was not...lol. That being said, ...would've appreciated a more convenient "layout description" ....none on score card and what was etched on hole land marks wasn't as helpful as I would've liked.
Overall a very decent course with it's challenges but enjoyable. Views were incredible, especially on the back nine. Definitely worth the effort to get here from central Phoenix. Will get to know this course better.... hopely from the fairway a bit more....
Great layout
challenging and very pretty course. once they get past the overseeding curse, it will be even better.
Worst course ever
They have stopped watering the course, it's completly trashed and unplayable. Not even sure if it's open anymore.
Club West
The course has been in better shape.
Very Enjoyable!
Had a great time at this course. Played very fast and the views of surrounding mountains was amazing. Had breakfast at the turn for $5. Not the hardest course but I'm just getting back at it. Highly recommend. Staff was super friendly. Will play again soon!
NEVER AGAIN
FIRST TIME PLAYED....NEVER AGAIN.....LOOKED ON LINE OF PICTURES OF THE COURSE....I DONT KNOW WHERE THEY GOT THOSE PRETTY PICTURES BECAUSE THAT IS NOT WHAT THE COURSE LOOKED LIKE.....THANKS GOODNESS WE DID NOT PAY ALOT TO PLAY. GOT HOT DEAL ON GOLFNOW....
Good design, poor grooming and upkeep'
This course was my favorite course years ago but now the course is lacking water, grooming and TLC. It is too bad as the location is perfect. i was considering moving to that area but not now as I need good golf courses close by. They still have gas carts there which is unusual but suits the pattern.
Goat Track
Try adding some water to the fairways. Middle of the fairway on hole #9 and my ball was sitting in dead grass.
Current conditions are a shame
I have enjoyed this course in the past and played here when the conditions were reasonable as recently as last year, but the condition we found the course in yesterday was more than disappointing. The course is not firm so much as its dry and hard. There's very little grass growing and what grass exists is thin. We weren't taking divots here, just making little puffs of dust--it reminded me of Tiger at Holyoke in 2007, except that's a links course and somewhat intended to play that way. Greens are awful. Not enough grass growing to mow, it seems, so you have rock hard greens where a ball won't stop until it reaches the fringe and then putts that could either be lightning fast or very slow, depending on whether you were in a bare hard patch or an area where some scruff was struggling to live. There was little hope of a ball rolling true anywhere on these greens. The other amenities are showing the rough edges as well. Both carts for our group (and several others I saw around the clubhouse) had major damage to the seats, big rips in the vinyl. The cart paths are badly damaged, cracked and lifting.
When in good condition, this is somewhat of a hidden gem in Phoenix. A fun course with a lot of enjoyable holes, playable by most levels of golfer. But what's there now is far from that. I currently couldn't recommend Club West to anyone, no matter the price.
Good Bargain
Course was good condition with quick greens. Good pace of play with not too much waiting between holes. Very pleasant round of golf.
Friday mayhem
Apparently there is a member shotgun on Fridays. The course was stacked. After 5 hours and 16 holes, we quit. Not unusual to have two foursomes at the tee when we pulled up. 15 minute wait minimum on every hole. Unacceptable.
Great course
First time playing this one and found it to be great.
Pace of play was the usual 4 hours as we ran into some slow groups.
Greens and fairways were very good and the scenery was a nice change from the flat desert courses.
Dools at Club West
Enjoyed. The variety of holes on this course. Love the elivation changes. Only criticism is the traps are not consistent and some are in poor shape. Will look forward to my next round there.
Love Club West!
This was the fifth time playing Club West. Had a brother in town who's a caddie at Pinehurst, and he LOVED Club West! Complimented the layout, the conditioning and the Clubhouse and course staff. We'll be back!
Bad Golf Course
This course used to be a good one. It is currently for sale and is deteriorating badly. Maintenance is terrible! The range balls look like they came from the ten cent bucket at Goodwill!. All the carts had torn upholstery with foam sticking out. The cart paths had 4-6 inch ledges and drop offs where they have cracked. They should pay you to play! Off the course the staff was rude and uncaring. I highly recommend that you stay away from this course.
Golf Sunday
Pace of round excellent, course okay for this time of year.
Greatly Disappointed
The course has gone down hill. At one time when you played in March, the course was pristine. Friday the greens barely had any grass, the surface was rock hard, and the approach shots would not hold. Fairways were summer dry, with many brown, dead, and bare spots. Pace of play was miserable, 5+ hours. The group behind us was continually hitting into us or near us. On the short par 4 10th, while standing two or three yards in front of the green I was hit by the group's tee shot. I put the ball on a tee and waved back to be respectful. Instead of receiving an apology, I was confronted by the group for touching the golf ball. We did not see a on-course Ambassador until the 14th green. His excuse for the slow play was the first two groups had taken over 5 hours to play. Why did the course allow this. I would not suggest anyone play this course until the pace of play is improved, a golfer's safety is assured, and the cart girl does not serve golfers who are intoxicated beer.
