About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business in 2019.
The Club West Golf Club offers 18 holes on a Brian Whitcomb-designed golf course that was originally built in 1993 and measures 7,142 yards from the championship tees on a par-72 golf course.
Club West Golf Club claims the 17th as its signature hole. It features double-greens, tees elevated 100 feet above the course and vistas of South Mountain and of the Estrella Mountain Range; players ought to pick the green they desire and then check the yardage. If the wind isn't blowing you back, pick one less club than usual, aim right and swing smoothly.
After the round, head over to the Club West Golf Club's clubhouse, which is the gorgeous home of the Lakeside Grille, which serves breakfast and lunch inside the stunning dining room or on a spacious patio featuring a fireplace and lake view.

great value.Good cource
Of the 4 courses under the FOOTHILLS ownership I think this is the better one for condition and price
Nice day
I've played many times out here. Greens were hard and fast and play was slow. But overall we had a good time.
fairways a bit hard
Tough to get a divot. But nice course and good condition. Pace of play was slow, no and shall in sight.
Great value for the price
Really enjoyed playing this course, first time playing there and would go back. Greens were in pretty good shape and rolled true. Started off as a single and played the first 5 holes in a half hour, then got behind a few groups and ending up joining another single which made the wait a little more bearable. Overall this is a great course to play for the money you pay.
deferred maintenance is the word of the day.
This course has tons of potential but apparently no money by the looks of it. The areas of play have been maintained and that's why it gets 3 stars. But is obvious that maintenance of the facilities is not a priority. For examples... The water cooler containers are literally rusting away. The once used halfway house lies in disrepair. The on course bathrooms have stucco falling off the walls. There are retaining walls falling apart and water features with nothing in them. ...completely dry. The range balls are worn out from hitting them onto a dirt surface . the grass is OK but thin on the range. Its greens are its strong point. They are interesting and good to putt. The fairways are in good shape
for April but I don't think they over seeded the rough areas. Its a good value for the money but I would like to see it cared for a little better.
No ranger
No ranger on the course all day. It was mid day on a Saturday. There needs to be someone out there moving people along. Other than that, the course is beautiful, challenging, and in great condition.
Overall solid course
Beautiful surroundings and challenging holes. Pace of play could have been way better but besides that very nice overall.
Course good - Driving range poor
Course staff were friendly and accommodating. Driving range is basically a gravel pit, making it difficult to assess distance and practice balls were extremely worn. Course was in good shape and has several interesting holes. Unfortunately, the group behind us consisted of club members that were extremely rude, even hitting into us twice. As noted, we played in four hours. On completion of the round, we spoke to the pro shop staff about the member foursome and they said they would address our complaint to the membership. It would be difficult to recommend this course to out of towners on the weekend.
We Come Every Year!
From the minute we arrived and checked in at the pro shop to our lunch before we golfed, we experienced friendly and knowledgeable staff which we appreciated. The course was in very good shape and for our foursome it was a fantastic day out on the course.. We make sure we golf at Club West every time we come to Phoenix. It is one of our favorites. Thank you Club West.
Great layout, great condition
Well laid out, great condition, fast greens, great value for the price
Club West
Gre at track, condition is not bad, seem to be making a good effort lately
Club West
The course was very interesting and fun to play. Most of the lies were very tight because the grass is short and looks starved for fertilizer. Due to this condition drives and fairway metal shots went 10 to 30 yards farther than normal for me. There is deferred maintenance on the course and the driving range should be an embarrassment for the owners.
Picturesque
I am new to the area and have played at 5 or 6 courses. So far this is my favorite course
A real nice change.
Allowed for some elevation holes which is not common on many courses around Phoenix. We all enjoyed it.
Bon rapport qualite\prix
Terrain agréable à jouer. Quelques trous assez difficiles, mais bon terrain pour débuter sa saison. Les allées et verts étaient en très bonne condition.
Slow, Slow, Slow
We were 30 min. late teeing, off, waited on every tee. Should have had time to play 16 holes at least quite after 9. I've played this coarse a few times and always find it slow, they pack way to many people on the coarse and frustrates everyone. Coarse was in good condition, such a shame they ruin it but putting to many people out there.
Bob
Enjoyed the golf course. Certainly not the best maintained course but very adequate. Scenery was excellent. greens were fair although did not hold as well as expected.
Good experience. Would come back but would search for a minus $70 price.
Driving range was poor.
Great Views
We have played here a number of times and generally enjoyed each round. However, this time we found the fairways quite thin. In fact many times it seemed as if the ball was sitting on no grass at all but rather on mud or dirt. We thought the tee boxes and greens were in good shape but not the fairways. For the money there are other places with better conditions but not the views. Take your pick.
Great Layout, Condition was not great
This was my first time playing Club West which is a travesty since I live literally across the street. I have played sister courses Foothills and Ahwatukee Country Club and Club West is comparable to those courses.
The clubhouse and practice facilities appeared to be in good repair though I admit I only had time to hit the putting green (there is a pitching area and a driving range as well).
Once our foursome got out on the course we noticed two things right away. That the pace of play was going to be slow and that the tee box was majorly chewed up. Unfortunately this was par for the course as we noticed an impressive number of divots in the fairways and tons of fresh and healing ball marks on the greens. We had plenty of time to observe as we waited for every shot.
On a positive note, the course layout is pretty cool. Much like Foothills, Club West uses the topography of the hilly terrain to good effect, particularly holes 15, 16, and 17. There are also lots of areas that require a shot to clear desert and/or water to reach the safety of the fairway. Overall, the course was a good challenge (in particular for my mid-20s handicap) and a lot of fun. I really wish that the course had been in better shape.
Just as an FYI, because Club West is partially built into the foothills of South Mountain, there are some very steep grades and switchbacks on the cart paths. There are also some areas that look like they could easily flood during a shower. Please be aware of your surroundings and drive carefully!
