About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business in 2019.
The Club West Golf Club offers 18 holes on a Brian Whitcomb-designed golf course that was originally built in 1993 and measures 7,142 yards from the championship tees on a par-72 golf course.
Club West Golf Club claims the 17th as its signature hole. It features double-greens, tees elevated 100 feet above the course and vistas of South Mountain and of the Estrella Mountain Range; players ought to pick the green they desire and then check the yardage. If the wind isn't blowing you back, pick one less club than usual, aim right and swing smoothly.
After the round, head over to the Club West Golf Club's clubhouse, which is the gorgeous home of the Lakeside Grille, which serves breakfast and lunch inside the stunning dining room or on a spacious patio featuring a fireplace and lake view.

great course but....
Course is nice. Play went at a great pace. We had played in brutal Arizona heat and the golf employee never informed us that there would be no beverage cart during play. This is very important when trying to stay hydrated.
Now they do have water buckets on the course with very small cups that would, in my opinion cause delayed play because you need to take several cup fills to satisfy your thirst.
Overall a nice place to play. Next time I will ask if the beverage cart is available or not. This way I could purchase bottles of water before leaving for the 1st hole.
Nice layout
This is nice course with several interesting holes. Condition was ok, given that it was in the middle of summer and a heat wave. Fairways were thin, and greens were a little slow, but it was a great day. Teed off at 5:30 to beat the heat and finished at 8:30 as a threesome.
Dried out but for $15...I guess okay
Course was SEVERELY dried out and the flags were not in a predefined position and there was not indication of front, middle or back. This was frustrating. Several greens appeared damaged and had many dead/brown spots. I am sure this course is beautiful in the fall/winter months when the rates are $$$$ but for $15 it was "okay" but I would not say worth the hour drive it took for me to get there.
Nice layout
The greens were terrible. The fairway were burnt and not taken care off. The cart girl we only saw 1 time on hole 3. The water station had no water in the container. We were backed up on every hole. If took 5 hrs and we never finished the last 3 holes.
Better in winter
Played here several times and usually have only good things to say. This time was different, teed off early. It was hot out. First several greens were in bad shape. But the real issue was we found no drinking water on the course up through 14. There was no cart service available. So at 14 we called the clubhouse for water and they reluctantly brought out two bottles each, as we requested, and still charged us for the water. Although they offered it at a discounted rate! Make sure you ask the basic questions for your own personal safety...is there drinking water out on the course or, at least, is there beverage cart service?
Great scenery and challenging course but greens were bad
For summer golf, was a great deal for the money. My only complaint was the greens were bare dirt in some sections and this was the case for virtually every hole. Great golf outing for summer deal$. Was our first time and we had to pay extra $2 for detailed map of each hole, maybe they should throw that in with your green fees. You need this map if a first-timer because there's a gulley that impacts your second shot adversely if you dont know its there. Very challenging desert course and different elevations made it interesting golf outing for us.
not bad
The course was not in bad shape. could be better but one cannot expect too much in AZ in the summer.
5 somes- please water the greens and fairways
The pace of play was quite slow. There were many five-somes ahead of us. I understand wanting load up with Zplayers, but five-somes? Really? At the least let me know
Greens in bad shape. Fairways need water. Barely worth the $22 I paid.
Great layout, poor conditions
Staff was very friendly and helpful. The conditions of the entire course aside from the tee boxes were horrible. In some cases the greens were worse than the edges of the fairway. I know it's summer but this course needs better irrigation over all.
Very Disappointing
I have played here 6 times in the past and the course has always been in great shape. Not today. Fairways were sparse and burned out. Greens were terrible and place of play was pathetic. Walked off the course after 3 hours and 11 holes. Such a shame to see such a once great course in this condition. Save your money.
Greens were like putting in a tile floor
The course was parched for water. Yes it's summer and yes it was over 105 but that is summer golf in Phoenix. I've played Club West in the summer many many times and it's not been in this bad a shape. The greens were the worst part. Hardly any grass at all and what there was, was so dry. Fairways were dried out as well.
This used to be the go to course in Ahwatukee but it feels like the current owners are just letting it run into the ground. PLEASE pick up on maintenance, bring this great course back.
reconsider if the weather is too hot
It was 105, when I was playing. The course itself was not bad. But I could not find a shade due to Nat many trees. Not good in hot summer day. Everything else was good.
Great course
The golf course is one of the best I have played in Arizona. Coming from San Diego, I always seek to play a new course when I visit. The course layout is fantastic and one that should be experienced. Unfortunately the experience was not that great because we were waiting most of the day. Phone calls were made to the pro shop, that still didn't have any effect on pace of play. People were playing on blue tees and are horrible golfers.
Mid-week
This is the third time I have played the course. The greens are fast, but fair. The traps are in generally good condition. I would like to see a beverage cart - but there was no cart, presumably due to lower volume of play.
Worth playing
We are staying in Scottsdale so it was a 45 minute trip to the course, but it was a price performer. Great pace of play. Last 3 holes were picturesque....
Sanding the greens on the back nine didn't effect the putts much...... Overall interesting course
Proshop staff verry unfriendly
Proshop staff verry unfriendly.
all staff very friendly and helpful
Moderate to challenging
Fun course. Elevated par 3s give a nice view to the foothill area Fairways could be watered more cutting down on the very tight lies. Overall a fun course to play
beautiful and challanging with no food cart
Everything was great but no food cart person. Course is beautiful and challenging.because of narroow fair ways and slopes are rarely on a level lie .I would play this course againt for the price. $15
Very Dry and Hard
If you like to hit off good grass choose some place else
The rough is barren in many places the fairways are hard and so are the greens. They have dirt traps and not sand trips
