About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business in 2019.
The Club West Golf Club offers 18 holes on a Brian Whitcomb-designed golf course that was originally built in 1993 and measures 7,142 yards from the championship tees on a par-72 golf course.
Club West Golf Club claims the 17th as its signature hole. It features double-greens, tees elevated 100 feet above the course and vistas of South Mountain and of the Estrella Mountain Range; players ought to pick the green they desire and then check the yardage. If the wind isn't blowing you back, pick one less club than usual, aim right and swing smoothly.
After the round, head over to the Club West Golf Club's clubhouse, which is the gorgeous home of the Lakeside Grille, which serves breakfast and lunch inside the stunning dining room or on a spacious patio featuring a fireplace and lake view.

Course Underwatered
They are underwatering the course, fairway shots typically had dead grass and hard ground. Its a shame for a course with a good layout and challening holes.
A good "all level of play" layout
I played this course twice now, and I'll surely play it again.
I teed off mid-morning and thought the greens were rolling
a little slow for the time of day. But, sure enough, they all break
toward the mountain. I had an awesome time!
Most tee boxes and fairways are dead and greens were rock hard. Must be going out of business soon.
Beautiful pictures on website must be from long ago. Tee boxes and fairways are dead, greens are rock hard. My guess is this place is going out of business. Grill closes at two, no on course service. Must have been great in it's day, particularly the back nine that has two par threes that feature mountain top tees. What a shame to see it in such bad shape.
like the high tees very hard to know which club, makes it challenging
the fairways are narrow making me concentrate on my tee shots, a few went awry but most were good
This course has scenic holes and a nice layout !
Club West golf course is quite unique.
The layout is great and most of the holes are very interesting.
There are a few water holes but in general they won't get many of your balls. The course is mainly a desert course that winds through hilly undulating areas and flanked by residential homes. You can lose a lot of balls if you don't hit your shot where you are aiming.
Several holes are very scenic.
I would have rated the course much higher if the fairways were greener and thicker, and if the greens weren't so thin and close cut. When putting downhill he ball will really roll out past the hole so you have to lag to two putt.
It is priced very moderately and a good place to work on your game.

Course used to be in much better shape. Seems new ownership is far more concerned about decreasing costs rather than improving customer experience. 1st tee time of the day, so can't speak to pace of play, but course condition was very disappointing of $60 at the start of May, typically the time when rates lower for hot temperatures. Will not play again.
Layout is great but....
The course itself is great. Nice desert foothills course. Variety of elevation and greens are designed great.
The course was dry but tis the season...
The staff didnt even take our bags and there was 3 starters.
The main guy was trying but a tourney earlier messed up tee times.
We started over 15 minutes late. Group ahead was not playing ready golf.
Course great, tee times where delayed big time.
pace of play inexcusable
3 hr front 9 inexcusable. Get a ranger out there. How can you send out 5 two some and allow a 5 some to proceed them?
Below average at best right now
Day started out nicely with pro shop attendant very cordial. But went down hill from there. We warmed up with a bucket of balls and then went to the putting green. The starter comes up to us (2golfers) and tells us we can go whenever we are ready. So we take off immediately. On the first tee box, not 1, not 2 but 3 single guys race up to the box. 2 of them had no problem joining us but the 3rd single wants to play through even though we all see there is a foursome on the 1st green. So now im a little annoyed bc why would the starter tell us to go tee off and then send 3 singles up to the tee box. Common sense would have said to pair the 3 singles up right? Well obviously the young starter could care less. The course was in as poor of shape as the starter had common sense. Greens were fast and decent but for the most part the course was in rough shape considering it was the first week of May, not mid to late summer. Couple tee boxes were mostly sand with very litttle grass if any at all. Tried to talk to the starter and he apologized but I could tell wasnt real sincere. When we finished the round the outside staff asked how things were and I told them less than average and told them why. Might as well saved my breath bc his attitude was as disconcerning as the common sense of the starter. Only saw the beverage cart once. Christine in the bar was the saving grace of the day. Very personable and pleasant. Probably wont return to Club West anytime soon after our experience yesterday
Greens as good as I have ever played them.
The best I have ever played the front nine, shot 35, missed shooting my age by two shots, have 40 on the back.
Played on Tuesday wide open and we took our time.
The course plays tru a housing development but with room for all shots. Quick greens keep your attention for pitching and putting. The course has 2 par threes played from high tee boxes. I enjoyed this round with my brother in law Mark who agrees this course was fun to play.
Very scenic, great course for all ability levels.
This is one of my favorite courses in the valley, it is fair and a good challenge. It doesn't make you hit over water and if you get out of the fairway you can usually find your ball. The greens and fairways have been in excellent condition. It has great views especially on the back nine.,
Course needs water-Greens OK-Staff real friendly
Enjoyed playing, but the fairway are in real need of water. Super friendly staff and was good value. This course just lacks some care and work, Still enjoyed playing
Decent course, good value, no problems with checkin or pace of play
Decent course, good value, no problems with checkin or pace of play
Good Value in the afternoon
It's only $25 after 2:00 right now which is a good price for this time of year. $60 in the morning is overpriced but a little cooler.
Nice mid-range course
Club West is set in the middle of a residential neighborhood but it has been designed well enough that it doesn't feel that way. It is a friendly layout. The undulation is not too severe and usually helps brings the ball back into play. The tees and fairways were in great condition. It's desert golf so there are no areas with heavy rough. The bunkers are few and not too imposing. The greens were a bit brown but the ball rolled well and true, without too many tricky surfaces. Most holes are fairly standard desert design but CW does have a few signature holes that make the round a little interesting, including two high elevation par 3 holes that have you hitting from the hillside to the green down below. I had to wait for a coyote to walk through the green on one of the holes. The late April conditions (with hard surfaces) were good for my game and helped make for a fast-paced very enjoyable outing.
Water the course!
Not the course it once was - appears to be on the same track as the Lakes which they haven't watered in years. Many areas where the grass has given up and dirt patches are on hills and various areas. Greens are very hard with many ball marks as if the turf doesn't have enough water to recover. T boxes not flat and its a challenge to find a spot without a divot to tee up. Too bad, this used to be a really nice course.
Great course.
Great day on a great course, greens were real fast, sand in bunkers was nice to play out of.scenery was great.Highly enjoyed my day and can't wait to play it again
Gem of a course
Had a great day on a great course.Staff was awesome and welcoming. The greens were real fast and sand was real nice when in a bunker.
Nice layout with a variety of challenges. Fun but not overwhelming.
I booked this course the night before I played. I liked what I saw on the website and it seemed like a good value. The course isn't extremely long or tight but there were plenty of opportunities for hitting good shots and playing from postion. Greens were in great shape and rolled very true. Fairways were well kept and a very playable length. No real rough to speak of but their are hazards and OB on a few holes. Houses do creep on a few holes, but generally are not in play. My favorite part of the course were the 2 par threes that require steep down tee shots. The final par 3 has 2 greens which I hadn't seen before. Had a great time and would recommend for the value.
