About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business in 2019.
The Club West Golf Club offers 18 holes on a Brian Whitcomb-designed golf course that was originally built in 1993 and measures 7,142 yards from the championship tees on a par-72 golf course.
Club West Golf Club claims the 17th as its signature hole. It features double-greens, tees elevated 100 feet above the course and vistas of South Mountain and of the Estrella Mountain Range; players ought to pick the green they desire and then check the yardage. If the wind isn't blowing you back, pick one less club than usual, aim right and swing smoothly.
After the round, head over to the Club West Golf Club's clubhouse, which is the gorgeous home of the Lakeside Grille, which serves breakfast and lunch inside the stunning dining room or on a spacious patio featuring a fireplace and lake view.

Still in Good Condition
Course in good condition. Fairways were maintained. Greens were ok, but should be great in a week or so. Great value for this time of year.
love this course more every time i play it
club west is in great condition , for being closed in 2 weeks. love the seperated tee boxes. not too long, but tight fairways and smaller greens keep the challenge factor high. great rates and friendly staff make the experience fabulous. cant wait to go back after overseeding in late october.
Had a good time!
Decided last minute to head over to Club West. Had the place to ourselves, and was able to finish in 3 hours. Loved the pace. Maintenance was good for a being just prior to overseeding.
Check this out
Fairways are in great shape, unlike some of the other courses around the ball sits up nicely. The greens are smooth and true. too bad over seeding is coming upon us right now. But, for the value you can't beat it...
The fairways need some attentiion, but is a great place to play.
I have played this course a few times lately! I am sure the hot/dry weather in Arizona makes it a challenge to keep the fairways is great condition, so there are some bare spots. Overall the entire course is in good shape!
The staff is great and friendly, but I wish they would have a marshal that kept the groups moving! Pace of play is very slow and makes what could be a great golf day, a long and somewhat frustrating day of golf!
Good Day.
The price was real good and the course was in good shape. I had fun.
staff friendly--two groups let me play thru---nice views
I had a good time. Even got to play thru two groups as a single.
I would recommend Whirlwind, Superstition Mt., and the Legacy.
Wish it were always $22 with cart
Course is in very good shape for mid August. If you can stand the heat, tee off at 1:00 or 2:00 and it's easy to do 9 in an hour or so.
Course conditions have gone downhill.
A couple of years ago, the course was shut down in summer (off-peak) season for what was rumored to be $2,000,000 in renovations. At that time, those renovations were much needed. Upon reopening the course, other than some remodeling in the clubhouse, no renovations were accomplished. The tee boxes have been in need of renovation for as long as I can remember (out-of-level, crowned, etc.). The course has a lot of grassed areas where it appears as though the course operators have simply given up. Sand traps need work. Instead of proper reworking of sand traps, more sand was piled on top, resulting in many traps with too much sand (overly deep). Layout has always been its salvation, but if the course conditions don't improve, I'll have to start referring to this course as one that used to be a favorite, but I don't play there anymore.
Decent for the price
Played here at 10:00am on a Saturday for $13. Great deal for less than $30 on a weekend. Course in ok shape for this time of year. Pace of play was poor due to drunk hacks in front of us. Greens were bad, fairways good and tee boxes good. Course is not worth more than $30 on any day at anytime. Play this course as a last resort.
Really good conditions for summer
This is the first time that I have played Club West and I was very pleased with the course. There are numerous elevation changes that provide excellent views of South Mountain. The course is in excellent condition for this time of year. As Arnold would say, "I'll be back."
Course & management need work.
Arrived an hour before tee time. Staff was very nice. Told us there wouldn't be any carts available for a time. Went to the driving range. Were told the greens were slow - didn't tell us that they had been plugged (which they should have). They were actually fast having been baked in the sun. Didn't see the "beer babe" until the 12th hole - not acceptable when the temp is 100 degrees. Saw her again twice between hole 16 & hole 18. Some very scenic holes, but probably won't be going back without a great deal from GolfNow.
Pleasantly Surprised
I didn't expect the course to be in nice shape because they closed it last summer due to watering issues, but overall the fairways and especially the greens were all in great condition. I was hesitant to play here but was "pleasantly surprised". I will definitely look to play here again soon.
GREAT value for the price
I played this course after 3:00, so the price was $15 ($13 for Gold card holders). It is definitely HOT out at this time, so wear a large hat, and pour some cold water on your shorts, drink plenty of water, and you're good to go.
The course played easy, with lots of roll on the fairways, due to dried out conditions. They are still watering around the course to keep things relatively green, but its basically impossible with the blazing sun every day. I actually thought the course was in better condition than I expected given the 110-115 degree days we have had in the early summer. The greens were very green, but played slow and somewhat rough from all the unrepaired ball marks. Bunkers were in good shape. Tee boxes were a little rough in places...not always level everywhere. All in all, I would certainly come back and play this course again (and I have since then).
Fun golf course
The course was a little dried out with the record high temperatures in Phoenix ... thus the requires attention.
Having said that it was super inexpensive and fun track! Staff were very friendly and helpful. We will go back.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!
I first played Club West in 1994. At that time, it was the first time that I had played a round of golf in Arizona. I was so impressed that words could not describe the joy that I had experienced. It was,by far my favorite course in Arizona. Actually, it was my favorite course that I had ever played. Unfortunately, time rolls on and Club West, like the U.S. economy has fallen on hard times. The last time I had played CW was in 2001.At that time the course was still pristine.Fast forward 12 years. The wonderful memories I had of CW were shattered after playing the second hole. The course had fallen into total disarray. I couldn't wait to get off the property and never return again. I am still deeply saddened by my experience at CW. Hopefully, some investment group can purchase this once, phenomenal course and breathe some life into this delapidated goat track..The only word that comes to mind describing my experience at CW is TRAGIC!!! Avoid this place like the PLAGUE!!!
Solid price
Solid price for $17 on golfnow for Sunday mid morning.
More brown than green
I've played Club West many times in years past. I returned in May 2013 and found that the course was already baked out by the sun. The fairways (not the rough) were littered with huge brown patches of dead / dormant grass. The greens overall were ok, hard, fast but thin on grass as well - but better than the fairways. The range was basically dirt. I was disappointed as the course has declined in condition a great deal over the years.
Summertime golf in Arizona
The greens were superfast and the fairways were hard and not very green.
