About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business in 2019.
The Club West Golf Club offers 18 holes on a Brian Whitcomb-designed golf course that was originally built in 1993 and measures 7,142 yards from the championship tees on a par-72 golf course.
Club West Golf Club claims the 17th as its signature hole. It features double-greens, tees elevated 100 feet above the course and vistas of South Mountain and of the Estrella Mountain Range; players ought to pick the green they desire and then check the yardage. If the wind isn't blowing you back, pick one less club than usual, aim right and swing smoothly.
After the round, head over to the Club West Golf Club's clubhouse, which is the gorgeous home of the Lakeside Grille, which serves breakfast and lunch inside the stunning dining room or on a spacious patio featuring a fireplace and lake view.

Fun course.
The course is well-laid out with a good variety of holes - requiring you to shape shots both ways. You have to think your way around the course (e.g. where to lay up, where not to miss, and especially staying below the hole on several sloping greens). The greens were fast but true giving the chance to hole putts (which I finally did after vacationing in AZ for 2 weeks resulting in my best score even though I hit fewer fairways and greens). Played the blue tees and the course did not move several tees forward as seems to be the habit of many other courses in the Phoenix area (that was my experience anyways and is a pet peeve of mine).
Finally gor to play the back green on 17. That's daunting at 210.
Really nice layout but don't roll off the fairways into the hardpan. Didn't see any maintenance people on the course but it was certainly in much better condition than when we played it back in December.
Club West excellent Value
Different style of course. Winds through the hills. Have several elevated tees. Spectacular views. Fun to play.
Course was fun to play. Excellent layout for par 3 holes. Great value
The course is well taken care of but had a small concern about how hard parts of the fairways were when trying to take a divot. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I would recommend this course
Nice course in a beautiful setting....tee boxes need some attention.
Have played Club West three times in the last month. I like the layout, cost, clubhouse, driving range, greens, and so on. Many of the tee boxes are in poor condition. The tee off markers need to be replaced or at least painted....real shabby cow pasture feel to some of the tee box areas. The noisy, backfiring gas powered carts should be getting close to the end of the line...hopefully.
All in all, I have enjoyed playing Club West.
Great desert course
Nice course with position play. Ladies friendly tees
Club West great course at a decent price
Club West is a great course that utilizes the natural foothills of South Mountain to create a wonderfully challenging course with a amazing views. The course is well maintained, the staff exceptionally friendly, and the overall atmosphere makes playing a round here a real joy. The only negative is the rate of play. With the weather as it is now, the number of snow-bird visitors to Arizona this time of year, and the large population of those non-native visitors being of the slower variety, the rate of play can frustrate even the most patient golfers. Twilight tee times in most cases are unplayable as it would be impossible this time of year to get through all 18 holes while waiting an average of 10 minutes at each hole for the party ahead of you and the party ahead of the party ahead of you to finish the hole.
I will be waiting to play here again after the snow-birds have left and the warmer temperatures leave only those of us committed golfers out on the fairways.
Pleasant surprise. Great views on the back side
Had not heard a lot about his course. Was pleasantly surprised with the lay-out, especially on the back nine. A lot of elevation changes makes it interesting. Pace of play was extremely slow on the front nine, didn't see a marshal.
Several gorgeous holes!
We had 7 players and pace was excellent, course was in great shape, greens were very fast and the Agave restaurant/bar made for an excellent finish!
Great value for the price
Green roll pure but dry and to firm to hold any ball other than pro v
Great course in southern Phoenix
Great course. I really enjoyed playing this course.
The only thing I didn't care for were the houses being too close to the fairways. It made it difficult to concentrate when dogs are barking and you can hear people talking in their backyards.
Over all I liked the course and it's lay out.
greens did not hold wedge shots
greens were fast but did not hold wedge shots, they told us a playback was 15$ but when we tried to book it we were told they were full
course needs attention
beautiful views
we were 1st off in the morning so pace of play was fantastic
Great course
This is the first time I have played Club West since the renovation. I got a Hot Time deal and only payed $40 for an 0815 tee time. This is one of my favorite courses and it was a great time. We were one of the first groups out and flew around the course in around 4 hours. The condition of the course was decent, $40-$50 good, not $75 great. The course itself is a great layout with a good mix of holes. I will definitely be back to play again.
A terrific value
Our foursome played Club West on Saturday, 2/2 as part of a 4 day annual golf trip. We also played it last year and found it to have everything we want in a course. The course is challenging but doesn't squeeze the fairways like some developments do. Others have noted that the whites are a bit short but for our first day of golf in 4 months we didn't mind. The staff has been terrific on both our visits and great rates & tee times were easily found on Golf Now. We'll be back.
Good conditions and great weather.
We played early and finished in 3 hours. Greens and fairways were in very good condition. It is a fun layout.
Fun course, interesting holes.
Played in a twosome, went out early, played Championship Tees (6,500 yds) only took 2-1/2 hours. Course in good condition, fast greens. Local knowledge needed on some holes (Course tips booklet could be purchased for $2.00), since you might not be able to see the green or dogleg from the tee.
Excellent shape and a great lunch to boot!
Greens were pretty fast but true. We had a frost delay, but the staff got us all off in good order and the pace of play was excellent. Nice selection of tee boxes.
This couse has greeat features
Very friendly staff and super views of the surrounding mountains. Course was moderately difficult and well groomed. Rack rates are too high but online booking and a search for 'sales' produces very acceptable value for the money.
Worth the trip.
We enjoy playing Club West for the awesome scenery and unique holes. As well, the staff are very helpful and friendly.
Course should have been closed down for over seeding
Course was in terrible condition. we should have been notified that they were scraping and over seeding while we were playing. Fairways were torn up and dust was everywhere from trucks scraping and over seeding in front of us. for the price we paid for the round we would not have played if we were notified of their conditions.
