Editor's Note: Course closed for business in 2019.
The Club West Golf Club offers 18 holes on a Brian Whitcomb-designed golf course that was originally built in 1993 and measures 7,142 yards from the championship tees on a par-72 golf course.
Club West Golf Club claims the 17th as its signature hole. It features double-greens, tees elevated 100 feet above the course and vistas of South Mountain and of the Estrella Mountain Range; players ought to pick the green they desire and then check the yardage. If the wind isn't blowing you back, pick one less club than usual, aim right and swing smoothly.
After the round, head over to the Club West Golf Club's clubhouse, which is the gorgeous home of the Lakeside Grille, which serves breakfast and lunch inside the stunning dining room or on a spacious patio featuring a fireplace and lake view.

Great greens, interesting scenery
We enjoyed Club West and really liked the well maintained greens and interesting surroundings. The tee boxes were a bit rugged and the lateral rough areas were sparse but overall it is a bargain for the fees involved.
Okay course at a good value.
We play this when we visit as it is close to another favorite. Some great holes, some average, some so-so. Grass a bit patchy, coming out of winter mode. Greens good, run true. Have to hit a number of different shots to score well. Greens appears to have just been aerated.
Generally A Good Experience
We have played Club West 4 times this year and many times in the past. For the most part the course offers an enjoyable 18 at a reasonable price and within a reasonable time, 4-4 1/2 hours. Just occasionally is the pace slow and a marshall's appearance would help. The condition of the course is usually good, although the hotter temps of late have begun to cause some stress. Certainly, the views of the two Par 3's make for nice memories. Though part of the Ahwatukee group, CW seems to be better run with tee times adhered to and pace better than at Foothills and Ahwatukee. We got a great rate via GN, the standard rate in Feb. and Mar. is a little too high for the overall calibre.
Fair condition but slow play
Course was in fair condition considering the changing weather. However we teed off shortly after noon and did not finish till six.
The course is always enjoyable!
Always looking forward to play at Club West when in town. The foothills landscape and views are spectacular while enjoying a challenging round on well kept greens.
A wonderful golfing experience.
My wife, some friends and I played this course for the first time yesterday. We like to try different courses around the Phoenix area. I can't think of a enough nice things to say about Club West. From the staff in the club house to the golf cart attendants everyone was professional and friendly. The course was in excellent shape and the pace of play was perfect. I'm still marveling at some of the views we had from the tee boxes of South mountain and the surrounding area. After our round we were planning to go straight home until we went into the restaurant. The live music was great, the food was wonderful and reasonably priced. I know this is a course we will be playing often in the future. Thanks for the great day Club West!
Course conditioning requires attention.
We had a lot of fun playing this course from the blue tees. We found the overall condition to be that of an inexpensive muni course. With a little attention this course could be easily improved, tees and greens.
Affordable quality course...
Surprised by the over all value.
Got more than expected.
Well maintained, challenging, great views.
Will be back here for sure.
Not in the premium courses, but fair deal...
Great for the price.
Played early morning for really cheap. Played as a single and didn't encounter another group until 8th hole. Staff was the best part about course, super polite and cordial.
Great pace, good shape.
Enjoyed playing the course as it was in good condition. As it was early we were able to complete the round in 3 1/2 hours. Planned to have lunch afterwards but no one came to wait on us so we left.
good course, the back nine is quite tricky with elevations. Good pace of play!
Starts out quite ho-hum, but really escalates as you play. Pretty challenging back nine. It was enjoyable to play. Would certainly go back.
Great staff / interesting layout / horrible condition / filthy carts
Great staff and a very interesting lay-out, with several options as to how you want to play a hole.
That being said, the course conditions were horrible. The riding cart was filthy dirty, had cracked seats and a broken windshield. Worst cart I've ever rented, which is too bad because Club West used to have great carts with GPS. The tees were in very poor shape and the fairways and greens need some attention to say the least.
The course was a good value compared to others
The course is never in great shape as anyone who has played here knows. The front 9 is in worse shape than the back, especially the greens. The back has some more interesting holes however be prepared for some blind shots. When booking they don't indicate that play will go off 1 and 10 making the back 9 play over 21/2 hours.
top 5 course in the valley.
great course, friendly staff, I love it. will come back as often as possible.
Great course
arrived early and the friendly staff worked to get me out quickly. The course was at the end stages of overseading but was still in great shape. Fun yet challenging. Worth the price. Would definately return.
Totally enjoyable
Not enough birdies...had a great time...definitely will return
Nice layout in good shape.
Tees and fairways are in great shape, greens a very pot marked from players not repairing ball marks. Fixed several ball marks on every green. Greens rolled nice, if you avoided the ball marks, and were receptive to shots. This is the first time that I played #17 to the back green, 206 yards. Overall nice experience and I will be back.
prepare to 3 putt on crazy greens
We drove 50 miles to get to a great course for the money. Very enjoyable but the pin placements were possible to score on.
Bad greens people don't know how to repair pitch marks
Challenging big greens but 50 old dried pitch marks per hole. Too bad because big rolling fast greens
Great course
Golfed 3 courses during my vacation, Lookout Mountain, Western Skies and Club West, although all 3 courses were very nice golf courses, Club West was definitely the best of the 3. Challenging yet not extremely difficult, well maintained with some very nice high elevated scenic tee boxes. Staff very friendly and helpful. Definitely the best course I 've golfed in Phoenix out of the 5 total I 've golfed either this trip or in the past.
