Future
Not an easy course. Price substantially discounted due to reseeding of the greens. Fairways are excellent. When Foothills completes their updates, get ready for a price increase. It will compare to many of the better clubs in the west valley.
Waiting on new greens
Im a snowbird and this was my favorite course in the area. Troon took over and made improvements. Tees and most fairways are much better, but greens are very slowwww. Three are temp. They are waiting on grass to root deeper so they can mow shorter??
Still like the course and employees are nice and trying to make the best of the situation. Overall enjoyed round and price was good even considering the issues.
Too many bunkers and 2 greens were not available love the setting
With the exception of the 3 holes with the temporary greens (11-13) the course was in very good shape and pace of play excellent.
Marshal did a great job
From #2 tee box, everything was backed up. Marshall came around at hole #4, and by hole #10, it started to move again. Had to be one group holding everyone back. Nice to have it fixed. Good job.
Public Relation
Let's start out this is not entirely about the golf course which I will address later. As most people know the course is having issues with their greens and not being up to Troon Standards so they are offering a deal for 49 dollars for 18 holes and breakfast or lunch and range balls . the 49 dollars has gone to 59 dollars now. So the issue I have is I booked my tee time on TeeOff Hot Deal for 49 dollars same price as the course because the booking website is a lot easier. About 5 days before my tee time I thought maybe the Foothills would not offer the deal because I booked on Tee Off so I called the course and talked to Jeff and he reassured me the deal is good no matter where I booked . Show up at the course on Monday a hour half early with 3 of 4 people playing because the 4th did not want to eat and he would arrive for our tee time and was told the deal did not apply because I booked a Hot Deal . Tried to explain that I called last week and was told by Jeff the deal was good but to no avail . Bad PR over a lunch when their employee assured me it was good no matter where I booked . They were nice enough to say they could get us out earlier than our scheduled tee time but the issue we were missing our 4th person . Had to call him and tell him the situation and he was 35 minutes away at home. We did get out about half hour early with no lunch and they let us have range balls while we waited .If you have a employee representing your company on the phone give him the information needed to make the correct decision or forward the call to someone with direct knowledge of the situation rather than aggravate your paying customer who was given false information and wasting his time arriving early. Now as far as the course is concerned Fairways are good , bunkers are good , Tee boxes are good . Greens are slow. There are 3 temporary green 11, 12, and 13 . They are small and dried out grass you are putting on . Bad PR on the food issue but would come back and play for their 59 dollar rate by booking on their website which is a pain in the butt trying to get you to buy a Troon card . Did not get name of person at desk rejecting our lunch .
Pleasantly Surprised
The course was in excellent condition from tee to green, 3 temporary greens which I was advised about prior to start and even those were not bad.
Will definitely play this course many more times before we head back north.
Foothills GC is really trying to improve their situation
With the realization that their greens had been severely damaged due to salt contamination from a new water source, Foothills GC made the hard decision to close in December to reseed their greens; noting they were closed for 10 months previously for major maintenance. Reopening again in late January, they have made their challenges public and are offering a wonderful promotion package to bring golfers back while green conditions are still improving — heavily discounted green fees (only 80 players a day, with 20 minute intervals between groups), free breakfast or lunch (8am - 3pm), free range balls. Take advantage of this deal, but remember why this is being offered: all greens are very, very slow, some with sparse growth yet to fill-in, and (3) temporary greens. As long as you have a positive attitude going in, with the proper expectations, you will have a great time in a beautiful setting at a great value…. Enjoy!!! I did.
Scenic course
Enjoyable course. Greens under repair didn’t prevent from having a good time.
Greens
Sad about the greens. The course layout is good once the get the greens fixed up, it will be a good bourse again.
Stunner
Course layout was phenomenal. Nice scenery, fairways and tee boxes pretty nice, and a superb course layout. Temporary greens were tiny. Will definitely be back.
