About
Foothills Golf Club offers 18 holes of golf on a golf course designed by Jay Morrish and Tom Weiskopf and built in 1988. The par-72 golf course measures 6,901 yards. Foothills Golf Club sits among the South Mountains, and features a contrast of challenge and forgiveness on a links-style course that allows golfers to play a target layout that has more than 65 bunkers that daunt, fairways that roll and desert that has a lot of rocks. The fabulous championship golf course provides the locale for all levels of golfer to shoot a memorable day of golf.
After taking in the views of the South Mountains on the Foothills Golf Club's golf course, head back to the clubhouse, for wonderful vistas of the course and the Estrella Mountain Range.

So much potential….place is a dump
Been giving foothills a chance for a couple of years now. Was excited to play it after being closed for months. To invest 4 million into the course and have it still be a dump is incredible. The greens were the worst I’ve ever seen and disgraceful. See photos. They are well aware of it and is a shame. They should be paying people to play this course rather than charging 80+ dollars. They are saying it’s “city waters” fault which is what it is. Need to advertise that the course is in terrible condition. Won’t be back.
Golf course
Views around course were great. Fairways were good. Greens because of some issues were not good.
Green Trouble
Poor condition of greens and poor conditions of the fairways ruins an otherwise beautiful course. Love the layout but feel cheated by greens that were virtually unplayable. Staff was great everywhere.
Disappointed
Greens are in terrible condition with only about 50% of the green surface with any grass. Staff indicated greens were renovated last summer with drought and water issues impacting vegetation establishment. Over seed apparently failed also.
Have always enjoyed the layout and course condition has traditionally been very good. Hopefully course management will bring the course back over the next few months.
Bad greens
The greens are sooo bad on this course it should be shut down.they should be ashamed of themselves for taking your money.
All great till…….
Initially, arriving the attendant outside when I was walking up, took my clubs and put them on a cart. Inside, checking in the staff inside was also great. Starter when I got down to the range area was great as well. Everything looked great, until I got to the course from the range area everything looked fine fairways look good, rough looked lush and thick, and the two greens I saw looked good. But I was warned about the greens even before I teed off, but I did not expect them to be this bad. He explained to me that they were having a problem with their well water and the high salt content. They redid all the greens, not too long ago, and I guess this well water completely destroyed them. They were almost unputtable. Basically, if I hit the green, it was an automatic two putt unless I had a chance at a birdie or an eagle. Hope they get that green situation fixed but until then I won’t be back. I mean, I appreciate the first attendant. I saw warning me about the greens, but they need to really lower their rates until they get it figured out. That was almost just too much to pay for even everything else looking good.
Sand Greens
Half the greens are awful and the other half are terrible. Other than that the course would be great.
Definitely will play again.
Staff - fabulous. Layout excellent. Greens recently sanded along with some parts of the fairways so conditions weren’t ideal (hence the lower rating on this question) but we worked on a 2-putt rule and everything went well.
We played a year ago, and will play again next time we are visiting the area.
It's just sad.
Terrible greens. Half of the greens are dirt with green paint on them. The other ones are a shaggy mess. Too bad this used to be a good course.
Greens were not in playable condition
The Greens had a major problem, virtually unplayable. Apparently, their water supply from their well has too much salt and it is killing the grass on the Greens. They have started to use city water and hopefully they can save their Greens. If they can, this would really improved the course
Greens were worse than putting in my backyard.......I like the course but they should make people aware that the greens are lost!
Terrible greens
The fairways were in great shape, however the greens, OMG they were bad, lots of dead spots, lots of sand. Forget about trying to putt straight they were so rough. They should have made temporary greens in the fairway so they could fix the "real " greens would have been better.. Wont be going back, they charge a premium for a sub par course.
Horrible
I have played this course a few dozen times in the last thirty years but I will not return to it again. When I checked in I overheard the employee telling another golfer that the greens were in bad shape. I soon found that this was a huge understatement. Every green had huge areas of missing grass painted over with green paint to camouflage the sand. My partner that I was paired with said he was a member at this club and that the owners had replaced all the greens over the summer. Sure wish they had let me know this before paying my $75 green fee. I would’ve never wasted my money and encourage you not to waste your money by playing this course.
Where have the Greens gone!
I guess I should have read the reviews before booking - oops! I’ve never seen anything like this, there is very little grass on any of the greens. Sad to see such a nice track in such horrible shape. I thought Troon was supposed to improve this place?? If there is a silver lining we played in just under 4 hours which is hard to do in AZ during the Winter on a holiday weekend. Do Better Troon!

Horrible Greens
After being closed to repair greens for 5 months. Greens were more dirt than grass. Actually painted dirt green

Very disappointed
Greens were terrible.
Can’t judge your play or score with such bad conditions as the greens were. Knock it close on your approach shot and then have to deal with no grass, painted surfaces and sand on the putting surface. Can’t judge or count on the roll of a putt or a chip shot.

Horrible Condition For a Troon
This is a horrible course ran by troon. Conditions were so rough.
Don’t play this course. This course troon needs to close and do a full renovation on.

They would be better off with 18 temps, the greens are so bad. The rest of the course is awesome.
