Greens are in poor condition.
Staff are excellent. Unfortunately course conditions are not good. Greens are virtually unplayable. Unfortunate as this was a course fun to play last year. Hope things improve.
Horrible greens
Cant believe there was no warning concerning unplayable greens. Especially in prime season.
Forget putting
If you feel green play is an important aspect of your experience, you will likely be disappointed in this course. If you like greens that are pocked, sandy, and do not roll well at all, then you will be fine. This course has had a lot of build up after closing for the summer to redo greens and tee boxes, so very confused that this Troon course reopened for play after such poor outcomes. They could shave fairway areas and have temporary greens that are better than what they offer. It’s sad.
The greens are in horrible condition. Would have been nice if Golfnow would have a disclaimer about the greens
We have played this course in the past and it was great. This round however was not great. The greens were in terrible condition. They put in new greens over the summer and they were ruined due to weather and water. Won’t play here again until next winter.
Greens
Understand you're having green issues. Need to remedy them. Putting is not enjoyable.
Greens under repair
All 18 greens were under repair, rough with patches of dirt coloured green. No mention of this when booking the round or at check in. Very disappointing, no fun at all.
Greens work and recovery in progress we were warn before heading to tee off, hopefully soon will get better,
Greens are rough but hopefully the bare spots will heal n a couple of weeks. Great course and greens are usually excellent. One of the best values out there
Green condition are a real problem.
Every green on the course is basically under repair. Played better kept greens around the valley for less.
On the right track
We have played Foothills in the past - but were looking forward to playing since Troon took over. I will say the staff was awesome, the food was great too, the fairways were green and well groomed, but the greens left something to be desired. They were very splotchy and hard to play. The pace of play was also less than ideal and we didnt see any Marshalls out keeping things moving. We think Troon is on the right track to get the course to a prime establishment, just needs a bit more time and management.
Greens need more time
Overall the course is looking better after the work completed over the summer. The greens are rough and need more time.. Hopefully with the cooler weather they will be back in shape in a month or so.
Great course but terrible greens
This is a nice course with friendly people working (and playing there) but, oh my, the greens were in horrible shape.
Unplayable Greens
This course could be a gem, the layout and length makes it challenging, but the greens are more like hazards. They are in the worst shape I've ever played and on 50-60% on the greens you're trying to put over complete bare spots, so good luck with speed control or direction as your ball bumps, jumps and kicks size to size. TROON should be ashamed for charging normal rates.
So much potential….place is a dump
Been giving foothills a chance for a couple of years now. Was excited to play it after being closed for months. To invest 4 million into the course and have it still be a dump is incredible. The greens were the worst I’ve ever seen and disgraceful. See photos. They are well aware of it and is a shame. They should be paying people to play this course rather than charging 80+ dollars. They are saying it’s “city waters” fault which is what it is. Need to advertise that the course is in terrible condition. Won’t be back.
Golf course
Views around course were great. Fairways were good. Greens because of some issues were not good.
Green Trouble
Poor condition of greens and poor conditions of the fairways ruins an otherwise beautiful course. Love the layout but feel cheated by greens that were virtually unplayable. Staff was great everywhere.
Disappointed
Greens are in terrible condition with only about 50% of the green surface with any grass. Staff indicated greens were renovated last summer with drought and water issues impacting vegetation establishment. Over seed apparently failed also.
Have always enjoyed the layout and course condition has traditionally been very good. Hopefully course management will bring the course back over the next few months.
