Foothills Golf Club

From the parking lot it was easy to notice the lack of care on the course and the community. Driving range and turning holes were burnt out pretty good. Upon starting our round there was trash all over. I don't mean trash from golfers but cut chunks of drainage tiles, irrigation boxes and tops, irrigation heads. There was an exposed trench left open where the irrigation main was repaired. Irrigation running during play without supervision. We couldn't play out on green due to the surrounding zone one. Then on the following tee box the zone changed and we got hosed along with our carts. If I had to guess, 70-80% of the homeowners property walls are dilapidated and in need of desperate up keep and painting.

From the moment checking in at the driving range shack I could tell the sense of urgency with pace of play was not of concern. We were held up by a 2 some and 3 some in front of us. No marshal seen all day. Expressed these items at the end of the round and got the 'is what it is' response. The course has potential. I speak as previous GSCAA member.

I used to love this course and wanted to love it again. It has a nice layout with many tee options and great views. Many holes need some tic though. From dried out fairways to random unfinished maintenance projects, the course does not feel near as premium as the rates were for this time of year. 5 minutes from my home, and yet I will continue to travel 30 minutes every Sunday morning to courses in much better condition at much better rates. I hope they can bring it back. I'll take another look in the fall.

The fairways are in horrible condition each green was different as far as speed and condition...it was a holiday I guess that can leave an excuse on the pace of play and at least the cart Marshall was very helpful in trying to speed up the pace of play. aside from the beautiful views I would not recommend this course if you want to play..

the course was in bad shape, the tee boxes and fairway were burnt. not much green grass. the sand traps were in good shape, the greens were fair. it's way over priced should be $15 or $20 to play there

While turf conditions were typical but tolerable thin fairways in June in the desert, the greens were solid with quick speed, great course design and reasonable green fees with good customer service will make us return and should attract more golfers from Phoenix.

How can people say this course is average . !st hole fairway flooded with water around the green allowing no shots to make it to the green . The other 17 fairways are water starved . Hitting fairway shots off dirt. The fairways are BROWN. It is like they scalped the fairways and are ready to over seed for the winter grass and it is only JUNE . Moving onto to the greens they are green but need cutting because they are so slow . Really have to wack your ball to get it moving toward the cup. . Tee boxes are so uneven . Need leveling . No cart person 105 degrees outside . The clubhouse and bar is closed Mon - Thurs . After playing this course you need a good stiff drink and the bar is closed . The person taking the bags and the starter were exceptional in their job. Overall I would not recommend this course till winter arrives and hopefully you can afford to play it .

Course in good condition but greens are punched. Should be good in mid June.

It’s just in bad shape. I know it’s summer but wow this was bad. Pace of play was awful, 5 hours on a dirt patch isn’t great.

I couldn't believe that they had 1/2 of the course closed without having informed us of this fact when we booked the round.

We played on a moderately (Arizona/May) day and were expecting to move around the course quickly. We had a double and a single ahead of us (and believe it or not) they slowed down our foursome (ALL DAY LONG) It took us more than four hours to play the round with nary a course ranger in sight.

I do appreciate that it was a GREAT RATE and that it was summer and that you need to maintain the course; but, a little heads up would have been nice. In fact, a little heads up would have been expected.

Concrete path was in such poor condition they should remove the rest of the concrete & make a nice gravel path or get UTV’s for their carts.

Course was in terrible shape and definitely NOT worth the $75 we paid for it. Great layout and views of the mountains, but fairways and greens were terrible and course is worth about $45. I would not play it again.

While it's easy to pick a course apart, I.E course conditions, slow play, sand traps, Staff Friendliness,, etc.

Foothills, is a perfect course at any price!! Especially, if you cannot break 80.....You will get your monies worth. There are ample pristine courses, it that's what you're looking for.... Foothills isn't it, but above average playing conditions, for a desert course.

With summer on it's way, you cannot beat their under $40 rates, during the week..

Good price thru Under Par, course good condition for May, some greens have issues but ok. Biggest complaint is the surroundings around the course, some beautiful homes and other junky with clothes handing outside on rope, xmas lights till up but the worst is the block wall around the course need to be stripped and repainted HOA is def lacking and the course could use some dead bush cleanup.. HOA or course should address the ugly block fence.
