About
Foothills Golf Club offers 18 holes of golf on a golf course designed by Jay Morrish and Tom Weiskopf and built in 1988. The par-72 golf course measures 6,901 yards. Foothills Golf Club sits among the South Mountains, and features a contrast of challenge and forgiveness on a links-style course that allows golfers to play a target layout that has more than 65 bunkers that daunt, fairways that roll and desert that has a lot of rocks. The fabulous championship golf course provides the locale for all levels of golfer to shoot a memorable day of golf.
After taking in the views of the South Mountains on the Foothills Golf Club's golf course, head back to the clubhouse, for wonderful vistas of the course and the Estrella Mountain Range.

Half course
Only the back 9 was playable and this was not indicated on the Teed time registration.
The pro shop was closed but the starter was great and since we were only able to play 1/2 the course twice, he gave us a rain check for a replay!! Great staff.
The Bar was nice if not a little spendy!!

Needs help
I have played the Foothills many times but this is the worst condition have seen it in. The fairways are terrible. The course has so much potential- really sad to see it go down!

Course was in decent shape for late July. Greens were a little slow but consistent.
Tee boxes can use some work, unable to find a level lie on many of them.

Rainy Day but course and service was great!
Thunder storms throughout the Phoenix area during the week. Hoped we would get in a round of golf between storms. Not so lucky and the during the first nine we got very wet. Stopped before back nine and was very comfortable the rest of the round.
In spite of the rain, we had a great round. The course is so much better than the last time we played here! The staff at the entrance where you get your cart, and at the first tee where you check in, are very friendly.
We are looking forward to our next round here and will try to plan better for the weather. ;-)

Not now
Don’t play here for 3-4 months…. Needs a lot of work. Greens are terrible. Fairways are worse.. bunkers are the best place to be. I’ve played here this year and have had some good times but this was a poop show. Hope it comes to for this fall. Too pricey for that quality in the summer.

Good value
The course is great shape, the greens are slow but are being maintained very well. It’s hot out and the prices reflect that. Pace of play was great

First time playing here. Summer golf is always the best for price but I definitely wouldn’t mind playing here year round. Staff was super friendly and helpful.

Dilapidated would be a compliment
The pictures on Golf now of Foothills Golf Course are an absolute lie. The course looked like it was victim to a flood or something. The fairways reminded me of a balding person. Very thin grass, not manicured at all. Overrated, not just from the rain the night before. Many bare and dead spots in the fairways. The greens were furry and pretty slow. It did make chipping onto the green easier. It looks like the course has been neglected. The cart paths were missing asphalt on most holes. Lastly, the gas powered carts were pretty annoying. I'd be embarrassed to present this Golf course to guests if I were a member. Foothills located in a nice neighborhood too. Its a shame because the layout is fair and receptive to good Golf play. Id strongly hesitate to play this course again. Luckily I got a hot deal price as that took off some of the sting of overpaying for this run down course. I know my wife won't go back there again.

Maintenance crews need training - Course has potential
From the parking lot it was easy to notice the lack of care on the course and the community. Driving range and turning holes were burnt out pretty good. Upon starting our round there was trash all over. I don't mean trash from golfers but cut chunks of drainage tiles, irrigation boxes and tops, irrigation heads. There was an exposed trench left open where the irrigation main was repaired. Irrigation running during play without supervision. We couldn't play out on green due to the surrounding zone one. Then on the following tee box the zone changed and we got hosed along with our carts. If I had to guess, 70-80% of the homeowners property walls are dilapidated and in need of desperate up keep and painting.
From the moment checking in at the driving range shack I could tell the sense of urgency with pace of play was not of concern. We were held up by a 2 some and 3 some in front of us. No marshal seen all day. Expressed these items at the end of the round and got the 'is what it is' response. The course has potential. I speak as previous GSCAA member.

I would be nice if you guys put a warning that the greens are sanded. I like the course but not when it is in such poor condition. Should have offered deeply discounted rate.
