though not long, this course forces you to control every shot
First time I ever played this course, and it is very pretty and well maintained. I see a huge potential for a lot of wind though because of the fairly open layout and lack of mature trees.
I am not a fan of car path only courses.
I played the Zinfindel and Merlot courses. A lot of sand traps and water that come into play regularly.
For a sunny Tuesday, the pace was great, 3 hours, but as usual, a lot of players started bouncing around holes towards the end which throws off the flow
Great Test
Great overall experience. Poppy ridge offers all the challenge any golfer could want. The Kobe beef burger and fries were terrific. I walked the front nine and thankfully took a cart on the back.
This is a great course, layout, condition, playability
This is a really great course, I had played it many times over the years, good value and great track.
Great views!
course was in excellent condition. Greens were fast and true. Staff in pro shop very friendly. weather perfect. Truly a wonderful Valentine's Day!!
Would play again!
It had been a while since I played Poppy Ridge. The course was in great shape and played at a good pace. With the NCGA rate it is a very good value.
Great value / fun course!
This was my first round at Poppy Ridge. I had heard good things and it was better than I expected. The course was well maintained and provided a good challenge. It is a beautiful setting with lots of elevation changes. Hitting fairways is a must if you want to have a good round. It was a great value since I booked it on GolfNow and paid $54 for a Saturday early afternoon tee time. The only negative was the pace of play which was the result of one of the players in our foursome walking the course. If you plan to walk this course, do everyone in your group a favor and wear your running shoes, otherwise you will hold them up.
Greens were true
Really enjoyed the course...it's a fun course, but there were not a lot of differences between the holes. I felt like I was play holes over again. Unless you are an NCGA member and can take advantage of the discounts, not worth the green fees.
Nice layout
The biggest disappointment was that there were barely any yardage markers. For an NCGA course it should have GPS in the carts or more yardage markers.
Great course to play
I've played a lot of course in bay area, poppy ridge is one of my favorite. The course design is not too tough for me to play.
Fairway and green are well maintained. The staffs are very friendly too. The only problem for me is that we should drive almost 1 hr. to get to the course, but it's worth!
Good views, challenging but fair
Good view of Livermore valley, challenging course, but fair test of one's skills
Nice course
Lovley course with a good mix between challenging and enjoying holes.
Due to heavy rain some days before the course (bunkers, some fairways) were not in the best shape. Greens excellent!
Great layout on this course good drainage for a rain course.
Course was empty so play was very fast. Fairways were a little fuzzy from not yet being mowed. Course was a little on the expensive side for the condition.
excellent fairway condition and putting green. challenging course
great quality and great design course, just a bit far . hopefully they adjust green fee with todays economy. It cost golfer to drive longer distance now with the cost of gas and wear and tear on their cars. It will be wise for Golf courses to adjust fee they charges to increase more rounds of golf per year.
overall excellent golf course
Poppy is great
It's always a pleasure playing here. This time, I played days after the greens were aerifyed and it took away some of the fun. That said, Poppy Ridge was as always a nice challenge, especially when the breeze picked up in the afternoon. This is a fun and challenging course.
Nice course
Course was in good shape. Greens had just been punched, but overall everything looked (and played) good. Will be back. Wait staff in the bar is clueless.
Tight Fairways, fast greens and friendly staff
First time I have played here. I was fortunate enough to get it for $55 on golfnow. Played Chardonnay and Zinfandel course and it was picturesque. Carved through the hills, the layout was fun and challenging. I was able to keep it out of the rough for most of the day but when I was in there was trouble. Lots of fairway and green side bunkers. But the sand was fluffy and was hardly an issue. Greens were fast but receptive. Staff was sincere, friendly and very helpful. I would definitely play here again.
This course has a beautiful scenery
This course is very challenging from the tips! It's kept in very good shape from tee to green!
Excellent , links style course, surrounded by vineyards and hills.
My favorite course in the Bay Area. Always well maintained with excellent range and practice facilities. Three 9's allow variations of play and help with pace. Usually very fast greens that will hold an approach shot. Wind can be very tough, pace of play can be five hours if you have medium to high handicap players playing from inappropriate tees. Excellent, tournament -level course. Chris B. does a terrific job club fitting and recommending as well.
Note: This is not a course for players with a handicap greater than 20. It will bite you badly...
Beautiful course with consistent greens. Recently added additional yardage markers.
This course has 3, 9 hole link style courses, all of which are consistent. On this outing I played the Chardonnay and Zinfandel courses. Both courses we well maintained. The wind will pick up before noon and can play havoc on some of your tee shots if you have any action on your ball. The sand on the Chardonnay course was very firm which didnt provide much penalty to shots hit in bunkers. The service at the bar at the end of the round was exceptional. I enjoyed this outing and will definitely be back.
